MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Deborah Lynn Smart, 28, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born Nov. 10, 1971, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Charles Keener and Ruth Way.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Martinsburg Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Keith Allen Smart; two sisters, Marsha Keener of Petersburg, W.Va., and Carol McGorgas of Baltimore; three brothers, Rick Keener of Baltimore, Daniel Keener and Chuck Keener; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Keener.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale Road, Martinsburg. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Walter L. McGowan
INWOOD, W.Va. - Walter L. McGowan, 59, of Inwood, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born April 9, 1940, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Guy and Eva Snyder McGowan.
He retired from the West Virginia State Roads Department.
He was an Army veteran.
He was a member of Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by three daughters, Melody L. Miller, Melissa M. Jackson and Theresa A. McGowan, all of Martinsburg; four sons, Jody L. Bennett of Inwood, Walter K. McGowan, Glenn R. McGowan and Mark A. McGowan, all of Martinsburg; one sister, Peggy Barber of Martinsburg; two brothers, Guy McGowan and Thomas McGowan, both of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his fiance, Wendy Bennett of Inwood; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell McGowan.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Jerry Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery with military services by Newton D. Baker Post 896 V.F.W. and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Frances L. Doleman
SUMMIT POINT, W.Va. - Frances Leslie Doleman, 89, of Summit Point, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, in Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Home, Charles Town, W.Va.
Born Nov. 24, 1910, in Middleway, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Israel and Alice Esquire Russ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Vernon Doleman.
She was a member of Ebenezer Mount Calvary Holy Church. She served as treasurer and trustee of the church, communion stewart, deaconess, director of the youth choir, founder of Little Sprouts Children choir, and the Sunbeams. She was a member of the senior choir and a missionary. She was the oldest member of the church and was the church mother.
She is survived by a sister, Jeanette White of Summit Point; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mollie Rector, Alice Dotson and Dorothy Rollins; and four brothers, Samuel Russ, Nathan Russ, Thomas Russ and Delmas Russ.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Mount Calvary Holy Church, Summit Point. The Revs. Charles W. Hunter Sr. and Alice B. Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery, Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va.
John Franklin Berridge III
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - John Franklin Berridge III, 46, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Sportsman Paradise in Berkeley County, W.Va.
Born Feb. 2, 1953, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John Franklin Berridge Jr. and Loretta Mary Sanders Berridge.
He attended St. Michael's Elementary School in Overlea, Md. He graduated from high school in Pompano Beach, Fla.
He worked as a truck driver.
He was a Catholic.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1483 in Berkeley Springs.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Faye Secrest Berridge; two daughters, Kelly Berridge of Salemburg, N.C., and Jessica Mae Berridge of Berkeley Springs; a son, Josh Jon Berridge of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Lynn A. Jump of St. Michaels, Md., and Beverly B. Doyle of Baltimore; his stepmother, June F. Berridge of McMinville, Tenn.; a stepsister, M. Terry Dodson of McMinville; a granddaughter; a grandson; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. Pastor John W. Stevens Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

William C. Poston
BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - William C. Poston, 62, of Route 1, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at his home.
Born Oct. 28, 1937, in Clarke County, Va., he was the son of the late Clifton C. and Lucy Royston Poston.
He was a carpenter and farmer.
He was a member of Fellowship Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ours Crim Poston; a daughter, Brenda Susan Quaglio of Bunker Hill; three sons, Stephen Lynn Crim of Owosso, Mich., Thomas Lee Crim of Martinsburg and Jeffrey Todd Crim of Bunker Hill; a sister, Betty Jean Grim of Annandale, Va.; two brothers, Harold Eugene Poston and Richard B. Poston, both of Middleway, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Alton Crim.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. John Mowen will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

Lorene T. Shewbridge
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lorene T. Shewbridge, 81, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born June 5, 1918, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Beulah Unger Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bruce Shewbridge.
She was a graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She was a retired office assistant for East Coast Flying Service.
She attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Carney of Sacramento, Calif., and Lorna Walker of Woodbridge, Va.; a son, Dean Shewbridge of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Shewbridge.
Services will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. William E. Merki will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
