CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Frances Irene Cosens, 90, of 60 Currie Road, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 23, 1909, in Breathedsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Lula K. Ruth Barnhart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Irvin Cosens, in 1975; and by her former husband, Gerald D. Bast Sr., in 1987.
She was a homemaker. She had been employed by Basch Cold Storage Co. in Ranson, W.Va.
She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lappans, Md.
She is survived by a son, Gerald D. Bast Jr. of Charles Town; a stepson, Douglas G. Bast of Boonsboro; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Rev. Anne O. Weatherhold will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Annie L. Mills
SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Annie Lee Mills, 83, of Shenandoah Junction, and formerly of Monroe, N.C., died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born Feb. 2, 1916, in Monroe, she was the daughter of the late Augustus Massey and Lessie Victoria Garland Horton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Francis Mills, in 1990.
She was a graduate of Monroe High School in Monroe; and Wingate University in Wingate, N.C.
She was a homemaker.
She was a former member of Central United Methodist Church in Monroe.
She is survived by two daughters, Ida Frances Berg of Dayton, Md., and Carolyn Victoria Whetstone of Shenandoah Junction; three sons, Harvey A. Mills of Anderson, S.C., William M. Mills of Denton, Texas and Lewis F. Mills Jr. of Summerville, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Augustus M. Horton Jr.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lakeland Memorial Park cemetery in Monroe.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ellen Elizabeth McMeans, 37, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at her mother's home in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 10, 1962, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of Patricia Johnson Goddard of Hagerstown and the late Moses Norris Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Ben McMeans; two daughters, Syrita Johnson and Tyshee Johnson, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Travis McMeans and Robert Walker Jr., both of Martinsburg; seven sisters, Rose Lynn Redman of Hagerstown, Patricia Johnson of Martinsburg, Joyce Norris of Hagerstown, Judy Norris of Ohio, Betty Norris, Geneva Davis and Linda Norris, all of Keyser, W.Va.; four brothers, Moses Norris Jr. of Hagerstown, James W. Johnson and Dave L. Johnson, both of Virginia, and Lawrence Redman of West Virginia; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church. The Rev. Alfred E. Statesman will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg; visitation also will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the church.
William E. Huffins
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - William E. Huffins, 75, of Charles Town, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 10, 1924, in Bluefield, W.Va., he was the son of the late Augustus and Marie Moore Huffins.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a member of Sleepy Hollow Golf Course in Charles Town.
He is survived by one sister, Rosemary Hodson of Branford, Conn.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Guy Huffins.
A service of remembrance will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course. Burial will be in Monte Vista cemetery in Bluefield.
There will be no visitation.

Robert S. Stiles
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Robert S. "Bob" Stiles, 82, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born March 13, 1917, in Selmer, Tenn., he was the son of the late James Earl and Ollie Williams Stiles Burns.
He was a graduate of Florence (Ala.) High School; and Florence Teachers College. He attended law school at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
He and his wife owned and operated Robelei Estates, and Tri-State Mobile Homes, both in Charles Town. He had owned Chyrsler-Plymouth Automobile Dealerships in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Moorefield, W.Va. and Hancock. He was an attache to General Hershey in Washington, D.C., and was with the U.S. Government Selective Service Printing Office in Washington.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a Protestant.
He was former president of Alabama Society Club; a member of Jefferson County Taxpayers Association; and member and former president of Blinded Veteran's Association.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elise M. Mitchell Stiles; three daughters, Alice S. Jensen of Denville, N.J., Barbara A. Kretzer of Sharpsburg and Dena S. Hussar of Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Catherine Nix of Starke, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Stiles.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Old Post Chapel at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg. The Rev. Dwayne Casteel will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery in Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd. in Charles Town; and Saturday at 1 p.m. at the chapel.

Benjamin F. Walker
HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Benjamin "Ben" Franklin Walker, 67, of Harpers Ferry, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born Dec. 22, 1932, in Charles Town, W.Va., he was the son of the late John William and Brucie Ellen Henry Walker.
He was a carpenter and construction worker.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948 in Charles Town.
He is survived by one daughter, Jean Ellen Mullen of Edgewater, Md.; four sons, Lonnie Ray Walker of Manassas, Va., Dale Alan Walker of Kearneysville, W.Va., Tracy Jay Walker of Annapolis, and Clint Douglas Walker of Reston, Va.; six sisters, Betty Jenkins and Frances Custer, both of Charles Town, Nancy Libby of Arlington, Va., Sara Southard of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., Barbara Ann Alger of Ranson, W.Va., and Agnes Cleo Mahoney of Kearneysville; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Reichenbaker and Peggy Ann Walker; and one brother, Junie Walker.
