MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Audrey E. Myers, 83, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Heartland of Martinsburg.
Born Aug. 4, 1916, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Vincent and Louise White Myers and the stepdaughter of the late Ella May Myers.
She was a 1934 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
She retired from Corning Glass.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of Corning Retirees.
She is survived by four nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Cline, Myrtle Myers and Mildred Myers; and a brother, Joseph Vincent Myers.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. Robert S. Hill Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Friends may call today after noon.
Ottillia King
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ottillia King, 82, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Feb. 11, 1917, in South Dakota, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Eva Fix Mertz.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley J. Forgason of Oklahoma City; a son, Vernon L. Clevenger of Martinsburg; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr. will officiate.
GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Thomas Harden Osborne Sr., 78, of Great Cacapon, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 10, 1921, in Lee County, Va., he was the son of the late John Garrett and Nellie Jane Matlock Osborne.
He attended public schools in Lee County, Va.
He had worked as a laborer in the asphalt paving industry.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a Protestant.
He is survived by two daughters, Wilma Lee Brown and Anna Mae Osborne, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; five sons, Thomas Harden Osborne II of Myersville, Md., Douglas Bruce Osborne Sr. and James Earl Osborne, both of Great Cacapon, David Michael Osborne of Hagerstown and Wayne Allen Osborne of Walkersville, Md.; two sisters, Addie Unger of Westminster, Md., and Lula Ward of Hampstead, Md.; 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Eliza Ingle, Margaret Osborne, Vera Osborne and Nancy Lawrence; and seven brothers, Dee Henderson Osborne, Roosevelt Osborne, William Osborne, Robert Osborne, Gibb Morgan Osborne, Marion Osborne and Lawrence Osborne.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Steve Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Nebo cemetery, Great Cacapon, with military services by Tri-State Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 10 a.m.
Mildred I. Starliper
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mildred Irene Starliper, 80, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Homewood Retirement Home in Williamsport.
Born Sept. 4, 1919, in McConnellsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edmund C. and Lois G. Cutchall Seiders.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon P. Starliper.
She retired from Fairchild Aircraft.
She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary; Chapter 738 Women of the Moose, and Chapter 69 Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sisters, Thelma Grissinger and Betty Jane Sheffield, both of McConnellsburg; four brothers, Merrill Seiders of Fayetteville, Pa., Carl Seiders of McConnellsburg, Edmund Seiders Jr. of Everett, Pa., and Robert Seiders of Erin, Tenn.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ella Mae Hann and Bertha Strait.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Burial will be in Falling Waters Presbyterian Church cemetery at Spring Mills.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Edna L. Wills
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Edna L. "Nettie" Wills, 77, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at City Hospital.
Born July 22, 1922, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Elsie Reed Leonard.
She was a member of Berkeley Place United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ernest F. "John" Wills Sr.; a daughter, Janet Maphis of Martinsburg; two sons, Vernon Boys and Ernest F. Wills Jr., both of Martinsburg; three brothers, Harry Leonard and Benjamin Leonard, both of Hedgesville, W.Va., and David L. Leonard of Martinsburg; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon K. Wills; and two sisters, Jane Shifflett and Neil Sue Taylor.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Berkeley Place United Methodist Church, Berkeley Place, Martinsburg. The Revs. Harvey Bane and Louise Barrett will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.
The casket will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
Bruce C. Grove
SILVER GROVE, W.Va. - Bruce Craig Grove, 38, of Silver Grove, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 10, 1961, in Ranson, W.Va., he was the son of Sherman and Dorothy Howell Grove of Silver Grove.
He was a former student at the Center for Exceptional Children in Charles Town, W.Va.
He was a member of Silver Grove United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Sharon Ott of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; three brothers, Brian Grove and Keith Grove, both of Harpers Ferry, and Chris Grove of Charles Town; an aunt; an uncle; nine nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Silver Grove United Methodist Church. The Rev. Basil Day will officiate. Burial will be in Silver Grove cemetery.
The family will receive friends today and Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry.
