MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles W. "Whitey" "Buss" Miller, 87, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at his home.
Born June 2, 1912, in Camp Hill, Pa., he was the son of the late John H. Miller and Mary K. Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel F. Miller, in 1995.
He retired from E.I. Dupont Inc. as a machinist.
He served in the National Guard.
He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Civitan Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Anne Miller of Denver and Mary Jane Brannon of Martinsburg; a son, Robert V. Miller of Lexington Park, Md.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret V. Crummett; and a brother, John H. Miller III.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. Arlene R. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Shepherdstown, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Willard G. Barnhart
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Willard Grant Barnhart, 56, of Route 4, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at his home.
Born Aug. 15, 1943, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Sherman G. and Trefa T. Snyder Barnhart.
He was a 1962 graduate of Hedgesville High School.
He retired from Imation Co., formerly 3M Corp., in Middleway, W.Va., in December 1998. He worked briefly as a security guard for Central Security Bureau of Winchester, Va.
He was a member of Providence Bible Church.
He was a member of Back Creek Valley Council 15, Jr. O.U.A.M. and Loyal Order of Moose, Martinsburg Lodge 120.
He is survived by his companion, Linda Rudy Smith at home; three daughters, Lisa Quesada of Tampa, Fla., Kim Barnhart of Martinsburg and Susan Arroyo of Sebring, Fla.; a son, Michael W. Barnhart of Hedgesville; a stepdaughter, Tina Noll of Tomahawk, W.Va.; a stepson, Gary Payton of Martinsburg; two sisters, Donna Frye and Nancy Bartgis, both of Hedgesville; a brother, Bruce R. Barnhart of Inwood, W.Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James R. Barnhart and Richard W. Barnhart.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Gregory S. Frye will officiate. Burial will be in Providence Bible Church cemetery, Butts Mill Road, west of Hedgesville.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Jr. O.U.A.M. will conduct a memorial service Sunday at 7 p.m.

Nancy J. Furioso
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Nancy Jane "Nan" Furioso, 64, of Old Cave Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born April 10, 1935, in Highland Park, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Fletcher and Elizabeth Judd Lewis.
She was a 1953 graduate of Shattuck-St. Mary's High School; and a 1957 graduate of Albion (Mich.) College with a degree in psychology and sociology. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority; Sociology Club; Psychology Club; and the college choir.
She operated Courtesy Carriage Service for Newcomers to Jefferson County, W.Va. Earlier, she owned and operated National Association for Employer Resources in Riverdale, Md.
She was a Protestant.
She organized tours of the Jefferson County Court House in Charles Town; and conducted mystery tours of Charles Town.
She was a member of Jefferson County Historical Society.
The City of Charles Town and the Jefferson Commission recognized her for service to the community. Jefferson County Convention and Visitors Bureau named her a Community Citizen of the Year for her work in tourism. Gov. Cecil Underwood honored her as a Distinguished West Virginian. She received the Judge's Award at the 57th Annual Charles Town and Ranson Christmas Parade in 1999.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Fletcher Lewis of Lanham, Md., Anthony Phillip Furioso of Charles Town and Samuel Furioso; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two children, Sissy Lewis and Jeffrey Lewis; and a sister, Elizabeth Frey.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at noon at Zion Episcopal Church, 300 E. Congress St. in Charles Town. The Rev. Jack Weise will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Episcopal Church Columbarium in Charles Town.
There will be no visitation.

James C. Gosnell
BAKER HEIGHTS, W.Va. - James C. Gosnell, 75, of Baker Heights, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Nov. 5, 1924, in White Pine, Tenn., he was the son of the late Phillip and Louise French Gosnell.
He retired from Schmidt's Baking Co. as a trailer driver.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was a 32nd degree Mason; a member of Equality Lodge 44 AF & AM; Martinsburg Lodge 120 Loyal Order of the Moose; Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW; and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Dailey Gosnell; a daughter, Tina Hess of Gerrardstown, W.Va.; four sisters, Helen Caldwell of Philadelphia, Florence Lord, Doris Gosnell and Marian Farling, all of Martinsburg; two brothers, William Gosnell of Charleston, W.Va., and Dale Gosnell of Martinsburg; a granddaughter; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Bill Youtz and Daniel Youtz.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. Dennis E. Jackman will officiate. Burial will be in Johnsontown Church of the Brethren cemetery, west of Hedgesville, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Beatrice C. Rankin
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Beatrice Catherine "Dottie" Sheppard Rankin, 84, of Hedgesville, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1915, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Flora Johnson Sheppard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Rankin, in 1960.
She attended Morgan County schools.
She attended Snyders Bible Church.
She is survived by five daughters, Ruby P. Mathews of Fredericksburg, Va., Dolly Rudy of Hedgesville, Rosalie Files of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Judy Hardee of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Mary Riner of Hedgesville, with whom she lived; three sons, Paul Rankin Sr., Richard Rankin and Roger Rankin, all of Hedgesville; two sisters, Peggy Huffman and Vietta Weigle, both of Hedgesville; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Sheppard, James Sheppard and Morgan Sheppard.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Snyders Bible Church. The Revs. Joseph Mercer and Kenneth Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Snyders cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Visitation also will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the church.
