MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - G. Lloyd Knestrick, 74, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his home.
Born April 7, 1925, in Washington, Pa., he was the son of the late Gleason and Alice Gertrude McDonough Knestrick.
He received a bachelor's degree in physics from Washington and Jefferson College.
He was an optical physicist with the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1980.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Ambulance Co. in the European Theatre and the Philippines.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Local DAV Chapter 8; and Chapter 34 in Morgan County, W.Va. He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW; and Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60 of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife, Rita West Knestrick; a daughter, Linda Lee Knestrick; a stepdaughter, Julie Trainor Sampras; a stepson, Maurice Talbot Trainor; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews; and caretakers, Brenda Morrison, Hope Roberts, Amy Long and Marite Pelverts.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate.
Graveside services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Mount Pleasant cemetery in Morgan County, with military services by Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60 of Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - E. Kathryn Mellow, 95, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.
Born June 2, 1904, in Pensacola, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert and Esther K. Homrickhaus Slater.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Mellow.
She is survived by a daughter, Rheta R. Kerns of Hedgesville, W.Va.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Calvary Bible Church in Berkeley Springs. Pastor Jim Downey will officiate.
A private burial will be Friday, March 3, at Fairmount cemetery in Denver.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Michael Scott Feltner, 5, son of John Duwel and Mary Jean Feltner of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at City Hospital.
He was born Oct. 15, 1994, in Jefferson County, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Deshawn Tyler Cook of Martinsburg; grandparents, Amy Lynn Johnson of Hagerstown and Joseph R. Feltner Sr. of Florida; and a great-grandmother, Imogene Fowler of Martinsburg.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Douglas J. Hollida will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
John W. Frick
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - John William "Bill" Frick, 85, of Charles Town, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Shenandoah Health Village Center in Charles Town.
Born Dec. 22, 1914, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late John and Anna Hillard Frick.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Catherine Swope Fraley Frick.
He retired from Twin Ridge Orchards in Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.
He was a member of Church of God in Bakerton, W.Va.
He is survived by four stepchildren, Lester Fraley of Brunswick, Md., James Fraley of Martinsburg, W.Va., Willis Fraley of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Iona C. Haines of Ranson, W.Va.; 29 stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six stepchildren, Henry Fraley, Charles Fraley, Archie Fraley, LeRoy Fraley, Elizabeth Eaton and Nellie Oden; five sisters, Buelah Plotner, Florence Baker, Edith Baker, Edith Fisher and Bertha Cain; and four brothers, Lester Frick, Ernest Frick, Lee Frick and Lewis Frick.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg. Lay Minister William Custer will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town.
Esta M. Rickard
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Esta Mae Rickard, 91, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Shenandoah Health Village Center in Charles Town.
Born Oct. 8, 1908, in Stanley, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Elizabeth Stoneberger Taylor.
She is survived by a daughter, Lenis M. Martin of Charles Town; two sons, Charles Junior Rickard of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Daniel E. Rickard of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a half sister, Daisy Meadows of Luray; 24 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 45 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Elva Jackson and Helen V. Harder; a sister, Ethel Weakley; and two brothers, Lloyd Taylor and Glenn Taylor.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. Steve Marshall and Mark Peters will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg.
Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Yvonne N. Drewry
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Yvonne Nell Batty Drewry, 91, of Charles Town, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Santa Rita Care Center in Green Valley, Ariz.
Born June 27, 1908, in Luray, Va., she was the daughter of the late Hubert A. and Lora Burner Alger.
She is survived by two sons, Merle Batty of Green Valley and R. Glenn Beatty of Silver Spring, Md.; a sister, Anice M. Darrock of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a brother, Leslie C. Alger of Charles Town; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Lee Fowler, Mabel Kehl and LaVeta A. Jensen; and eight brothers, Jesse Alger, Everett Alger, Fred Alger, Clifton Alger, Wilbur Alger, Francis Alger, Shirley Alger and Merle Alger.
Services will be Tuesday, Feb. 29, at 1 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery.
