Mary Louise Carr
Mary Louise Carr, 89, of Gassaway, died April 14, 2009 at Cedar Ridge Center, Sissonville.
She was born February 12, 1920 in Braxton County a daughter of the late Walker and Maggie Oldaker Wood.
She was a homemaker, an excellent seamstress and a member of the Gassaway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Carr; one grandchild; two sisters and one brother.
Surviving are son, Donald C. Carr and wife, Connie of Charleston; daughters, Karen Wethern and husband, David of Sykesville, MD and Marsha Downs and husband, Chuck of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Service was 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Mark Stump officiating. Entombment was in the Sugar Creek Cemetery mausoleum.
Friends called two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Wanetia Nadine Butcher
Wanetia Nadine Butcher, 70, of Birch River, WV died April 10, 2009 at Nicholas Co. Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Richwood, WV after a long illness. She was born November 2, 1938 in Nicholas Co., West Virginia.
She was a Christian and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Brooks and Lola A. Harrouff, Sons, Mitchell and Michael Butcher and her brother, Denzil Brooks Harrouff.
She is survived by granddaughter, Renee’ Butcher of Wellston, Oh, her caregiver and thought of as her daughter-in-law Lexie Cutlip and her daughter, Mary Pulliam.
Funeral service was held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home with Rev. Bobbie Harper officiating. Burial was in the Birch River Cemetery, Birch River, WV. Friends called from 6-8pm Monday evening April 13, 2009 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.

John Stephen Przychodzien
John Stephen Przychodzien Jr., 79, of Parkesburg, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 19, 2009.
He was the husband of Dolores R. Cole Przychodzien, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Jan S. and Jozefa Kempisty Przychodzien. John was an area resident all his life and a 1948 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville. He was employed by the Lukens Steel Co., retiring with 34 years of service. Before and after his retirement, John continued to work as a self-employed plumber, electrician and heating technician.
John was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, the Lukens Veterans Guild, life member of the West End Fire Company, past president and trustee of the Polish American Citizens Club in Coatesville, and he was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.
John also served his community on the Chester County and Coatesville redevelopment authorities and the Coatesville Sewer Authority.
However, John will best be remembered for always being willing to help others.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three children, Michele Buffington of Pomeroy, Pamela Przychodzien of Coatesville and John S. Przychodzien III and wife, Lisa, of Gap; two grandchildren, Jarrett Buffington and Megan Przychodzien; nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces.
The last o f his immediate family, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Stanley and Frank Przychodzien; and five sisters, Stella Oleszek, Anna Griffaton, Mary DeAbreu, Jennie Esworthy and Lottie Hook.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, April 24, at 11 am at St. Stanislaus Kostka church, 209 W. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, followed by interment in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery.
Family and friends were also invited to attend the viewing on Thursday, April 23, from 5 to 8 pm at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, and also Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the funeral home.
Terry James “T.J.” Carr II
Terry James “T.J.” Carr II, 33, of Gassaway died September 17, 2009.
He was born June 19, 1976 in Upshur County the son of Terry James Carr of Gassaway and Roxanna Coleman Carr of Herold Road, Sutton.
T.J. was a heavy equipment mechanic for Mountaineer Grading, Elkview and a member of the Flatwoods Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents he is also survived by wife, Cheryl Eddy Carr; children, Halie, Kalyn and Joshua; sister Amber Hoard and husband, Harold of Little Burch; maternal grandmother, Della Mae Coleman of Clay; aunts, Nancy Carr of Gassaway, Mary Bowyer of Jane Lew, Barbara Coleman of Steilacoom, WA and Emma Keener of Clarksburg; uncles, Patrick Carr and wife, Mary Jo of Exchange, and Rick Coleman of Huntington; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by uncle, Larry Coleman.
Graveside service was 1pm Tuesday, September 22 at the James M. Carr Cemetery, Belfont with Rick Hart officiating. The Flatwoods Volunteer Fire Department served as pallbearers.

Richard Leon Green
Richard Leon Green, 87, of Heaters died September 23, 2009 at his home. He was born June 24, 1922 in Sutton, WV, a son of the late Percy L. & Lovie Prunty Green. Also preceding him death were his sister Melba L. Kitts; brother Olen Green; and niece Gloria J. Gum.
He was a Christian by faith and a retired diesel mechanic. Mr. Green was a World War II veteran, having received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland Ardennes & Central Europe. He was a member of the American Legion Post #33 Honor Guard in Braxton County
He is survived by his wife Allie Elizabeth Wyatt Green; and daughter Kathleen Holcomb & husband Ken of Heaters.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Rich Demastus officiating. Burial was in the Skidmore Cemetery, Sutton with military Graveside Rites by American Legion Post #33. Friends called Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bertha Wallace
Bertha Wallace, 82, of Belfont, WV went to be with her Lord September 23, 2009 at Ansted Nursing Home, Ansted, WV where she had been residing since October 2007.
She was born July 21, 1927 on Rich Creek in Wayne County a daughter of the late John H. and Nancy E. Gilkerson Wallace.
She worked several years at Precision Services, Sutton and competed in the Special Olympics. She was a member of the Simpson Methodist Church, Belfont.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Ada Johnson, Dorothy Ramey and Victoria Adkins; brothers, Ernie, Bud and Millard Wallace.
Surviving: sisters, nor Skidmore of Newville, WV; Freda Polter of Bryan, OH; and Barbara Frame and husband, Norman of Frametown, WV; brother, William Wallace and wife, Cherie of Sierra Vista, AZ; many nieces and nephews.
Service was 2 pm Monday, Sept. 28 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rich Demastus officiating.
Friends called from 12:30 till time of service at the funeral home.
Burial was 11 am Tuesday, Sept. 29 at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Wayne County.
Olda Mae Burns
Olda Mae Burns, 91, of Frametown, WV passed away Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at home after a long illness.
She was born on May 13, 1918 at Crooked Fork, WV, a daughter of the late Jim and Effie Dobbins Duley. Olda was a homemaker, mother and a member of the Rosedale Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by General Industries in Elyria, OH.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jack C. Burns. Also preceding her in death was a daughter (infant) and one brother Paul “Todd” Duley and two sisters Vace Long and Beva Rexroad.
She is survived by daughters, Margaret Dobbins of Frametown, Betty Cox of Frametown, Burnice Hall of Frametown, Bonnie Jarvis of Frametown, Dolletta Duffield of Bedford, KY, Janice Frame of Elyria, OH, Kimberley Frame of Rosedale; Sons, Jack O. Burns of Frametown and Richard L. Burns of Grantsville; two step children, William “Bill” Burns of LaGrange, OH and Norma Ruth Boone of Tanner, WV; and one sister Mrs. Ethel Morrison of Revena, OH; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009 at Stockert-Gibson-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV, with Rev. George Rose officiating. Burial was in Burns Cemetery near O’Brien, WV. Friends called from 6-9:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home.
Lewis Wade Riffle, Sr.
Lewis Wade Riffle, Sr., 87, passed away August 11, 2009 at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon, WV after a long illness.
He was born February 9, 1922 at Burnsville, the son of Oscar Wade Riffle and Clarissa Butcher Riffle. He lived most of his life in Houston, TX and was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by 2 sons, Lewis Wade Riffle, Jr. and Ralph Harding Riffle, both of California; and many nieces and nephews.
His body was cremated and his cremains will be buried at Quickle Cemetery, near Burnsville at a later date.
