MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Annie Madeline Beavers, 93, of Martinsburg, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at City Hospital.
Born June 4, 1907, at Antietam, she was the daughter of the late Josephus and May Baker Marshall.
She was employed by Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission for 14 years.
She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by one sister, Ethel Dunham, of Berkeley Station, W.Va.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Beavers; four brothers, Frank Marshall, Ernest Marshall, Gardner Marshall and William Ray Marshall; a sister, Helen I. Myers; and a grandson.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Revs. William C. Crowe and Arnold F. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Isaac D. VanMetre Jr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Isaac D. "Ike" VanMetre Jr., 85, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Old Stone House Farm.
Born March 16, 1915, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late I.D. VanMetre, Sr. and Daisy Butler VanMetre.
He was a 1932 graduate of Martinsburg High School.
He ran the family dairy and country ham businesses.
He was a member of National Dairy Judging teams in his youth; his team ranked ninth in the nation. He was a member of the 1928 state Champion 4-H Team and the state Vocational Agricultural Dairy Judging Team in 1931.
He was past president of West Virginia Dairy Association. In 1948, he won the B&O Award for "Outstanding Farm Conservation." He was a member of Kiwanis and Berkeley County Farm Bureau; was a member and president of West Virginia Draft Appeal Board and received an award for more than 25 years of service. He was a member of Berkeley County Tax Revaluation Board; vice president and member of the Board of Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Association from 1942-1960. He served on the board of F&M Bank.
He was an honorary trustee of Mt. Zion Baptist Church; a member of Berkeley County Historical Landmark Commission; a member and past president of Adam Stephen Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution; president and member of Berkeley County Board of Education; and a member of the Harpers Ferry Cooking Club.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vesta Butler VanMetre; a sister, Katherine B. VanMetre of Outlook Pointe, Martinsburg; five nieces; a nephew; and a caregiver, Hallie Esther Johnson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James M. VanMetre; and a sister, Bessie Bergdoll Diffenderfer.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Douglas J. Hollida will officiate. Burial will be in the VanMetre Family cemetery at Old Stone House Farm.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Gloria J. Ebberts, 65, of Martinsburg, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at the home of her brother, Chester Scott in Ridgeway, W.Va.
Born March 3, 1935, in Braxton County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Chester and Elsie Lewis Scott.
She was employed by Wal-Mart in Hagerstown.
She is survived by two sisters, Betty Wilson of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Cathy Chamberlain of Greenwood, Del.; four brothers, Chester Scott of Ridgeway, W.Va., Eddie Cummings of Cleveland, Ohio, Freddie Cummings of Petersburg, W.Va., and Teddie Cummings of Wardensville, W.Va.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald Lewis, Billy Scott and Larry Cummings.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate. Burial will be in Central Chapel cemetery in Ganotown, W.Va.

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. A. Pauline "Peenie" Crone, 97, of Hedgesville, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at the home of her great-nephew, James A. Shirley, with whom she resided.
Born July 28, 1902, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Emma Rooney Stuckey.
She was a 1920 graduate of Hedgesville High School.
She was a member of Tomahawk Christian Church and served as church pianist, janitor, Sunday School teacher and made Communion.
In addition to her great-nephew, she is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces; great-nephews and her caregivers, Debbie Napier and Kathy Collis. She was the last of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Watson and Edith Shipper; four brothers, Lynn Stuckey, Harry Stuckey, Arthur Stuckey and Bernie Stuckey.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Tomahawk Christian Church. The Rev. Lee Ashley will officiate. Burial will be in Tomahawk cemetery.

Ernest L. Weidman Sr.
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ernest Lee Weidman Sr., 87, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at City Hospital.
Born April 26, 1912, in Pikeside, Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Solomon Frederick and Samantha Florence Kisner Weidman.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Florence Virginia Weidman and Beulah Dale Weidman.
He retired from Allegheny Power System in 1974, where he had worked as a line foreman.
He was a member of Moler Avenue Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by four sons, Ernest L. Weidman Jr., Terrence F. Weidman, and Roger G. Weidman, all of Martinsburg, and Dwight D. Weidman of Chambersburg, Pa.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Cora B. Mason and Mary B. Carper; six brothers, Stewart F. Weidman, Harlen H. Weidman, Charles B. Weidman, Thomas A. Weidman, Lemuel M. Weidman and John W. Weidman.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale cemetery. The Rev. Eddie Edmonds will officiate.

CHESTNUT HILL, W.Va. - Junyaetta Rae Jackson, 60, of Chestnut Hill, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Oct. 30, 1939, in Plaska, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Willie Faulkner Boswell.
She was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter 1028 of Charles Town, W.Va.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Donald L. Jackson; two daughters, Treasa Y. Ruffner and Darla L. Jackson, both of Chestnut Hill; five sisters, Delta Atterberry, Myrna Blalock, Maxine Parnell and Kathleen Henderson, all of Texas, and Alveretta Schroeder of Arkansas; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lee Jackson, and two brothers, Clint Boswell and Thomas Boswell.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, Chest Hill. The Rev. Basil Day will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill cemetery.
