MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Thelma V. Brown, 84, of 700 Stonewall Drive, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John W. Sr. and Cora Breeden Cave.
She had been employed by Julius Restaurant.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by two daughters, Angela Walter of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Barbara Brown of Martinsburg; two sons, Bill Long of Hedgesville and Wayne Long of Inwood, W.Va.; a brother, Pete Cave of Martinsburg; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marva Catrow; three sisters, three brothers and two grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Malcolm L. Cadd will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at noon at the funeral chapel.
Earl L. Collis
INWOOD, W.Va. - Earl L. "Buck" Collis, 73, of Inwood, and formerly of Baltimore, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Dec. 28, 1926, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Cyrus and Nannie Bailey Collis.
His wife, Daisy E. Butts Collis, died Jan. 10, 1999.
He retired from Bethlehem Steel.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a member of Edgemere Baptist Church in Baltimore.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna Hall of Inwood; two stepdaughters, Mary Lindensmith of Tennessee and Frances West of California; a sister, Mabel Myers of Martinsburg; two brothers, Raymond Collis of Martinsburg and Carlton Collis of Ocala, Fla.; two grandchildren, and 12 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Collis and Fern Jones; three brothers, Albert Collis, John Collis and Vernon Collis; and a stepdaughter, Shelby Jean Meyers.
Services will be Monday, May 15, at 10 a.m. at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave., Dundalk, Md. The Rev. Erik Garthe will officiate. Burial will be in Crest Lawn cemetery, Mount Airy, Md.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, and on Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.

Richard D. Haines
PIKESIDE, W.Va. - Richard D. "Rick" Haines, 43, of Pikeside, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 29, 1956, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was he son of Eugene D. Haines and Clara Ceravalo Haines of Pikeside.
He had been a carpenter in the Berkeley County area.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Linda Wayson of Stephens City, Va., and Donna Gamble of Falling Waters, W.Va.; paternal grandmother, Velma Haines of Pikeside; and three nieces.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Revs. Daniel Montague and Fred Hudson will officiate. Burial will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Loyd C. Chapman
HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Loyd Clifford "Pedro" Chapman, 44, of Hedgesville, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Oct. 7, 1955, in Lehigh, Pa., he was the son of Margaret A. Kaczmarek Chapman of Shickshinny, Pa. and the late Elias I. Chapman.
He was employed by Virginia Maryland Tree in Hamilton, Va.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Eli Chapman of Virginia and William Chapman of Hedgesville; two sisters, Grace Olenick of Berwick, Pa. and Rose Flores of Wapwallopen, Pa.; a brother, John Chapman of New Jersey; and a close friend, Christine Courtney of Hedgesville.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. Pastor Jack Rudy will officiate. Burial will be in Tomahawk cemetery.

Martha L. Wilson
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Martha L. Wilson, 72, of Martinsburg, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born June 25, 1927, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Leonard C. and Geneva Clark White.
She retired from Berkeley County Schools, after cooking at Berkeley Heights Elementary School for 20 years.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Norman M. Wilson; two sisters, Naomi Arnold of Dalton, Ga. and Ruth Ann Lewis of Martinsburg; a granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas May; a sister, Juanita Ambrose; and two brothers, Edward C. White and Garland W. White.
Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

Charles Sowers
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Charles "Bill" Sowers, 63, of 626 S. George St., died Monday, May 8, 2000, at I. H. S. of Charles Town.
Born Dec. 24, 1936, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edward Davis and Patricia Armstrong Sowers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Robinson Sowers.
He retired as a cook from Johnsons Beef House in Leesburg, Va.
He is survived by a daughter, Ruth Sowers of Charles Town; a son, David A. Sowers of Harpers Ferry; a sister, Blanche LaRue of Charles Town; a brother, Thomas D. Sowers of Ranson, W.Va.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Sowers; and two brothers, Arthur Sowers and Edward Sowers.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Douglas Fraim will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran cemetery in Bolivar, W.Va.
