RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Katharina "Kitty" Lantz, 71, of Route 1, Ridgeley, W.Va. died Sunday, Aug. 24, 1997 at her home.
Born March 14, 1926 in Frankfort, Germany she was the daughter of the late Richard Hoffmann and the late Clara Hoffman.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are her husband, Harry D. Lantz, Ridgeley; a daughter, Lucinda L. Hillegas and her fiance Herbert Andy Witt, LaVale, Md.; and a granddaughter, Stephanie N. Hillegas.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St. Cumberland on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. George Loar and Dr. Thomas Gulbronson officiating.
SPRINGFIELD, W.Va. - Clyde "Eston" Landis, 77, of Springfield, died Saturday, March 1, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Sept. 6, 1919, at Landes, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Dellia Florence (Ayers) Landis.
He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Clarice Ellen (Shrout) Landis; two brothers, Virgil and John W. Landis; and two sisters, Alpha Carpenter and Julie Huffer.
Mr. Landis worked in the car department as a car inspector for the B & O Railroad, and retired with over 30 years of service.
He was a member of Davis Masonic Lodge 51 AF&AM;, Keyser, and Post 6667 VFW, Fort Ashby.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in both Germany and France.
Surviving are his wife, Mary C. (Dennison) Landis, Springfield; two sons, Gregory C. Landis, Fort Ashby, and Albert Richard Kenney, Cumberland, Md.; one daughter, Deborah C. Wallizer, Springfield, W.Va.; one stepson, William J. Kesner, Oldtown, Md.; two brothers, Martin Landis, Augusta, and Eugene C. Landis, Four Oaks, N.C.; four sisters, Verda Kelley, Cumberland, Md., Dorothy Shepert, Henderson, Nev., Nellie Helmick, Cumberland, Md., and Louella Robertson, Hedgesville; and five grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Monday, March 3, 1997, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James E. Blubaugh and the Rev. Bob D'Angelo officiating.
Graveside rites will be accorded by the Veterans Organizations of Hampshire County.
EDGAR H. LANDES
NEW CREEK, W.Va. - Edgar H. Landes, 86, of HC 75, Box 80, Antioch Route, New Creek, died Sunday, May 18, 1997, at Grant Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1911, at Grant County, he was a son of the late Albert and Stella (Lyons) Landes.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mae (Feaster) Landes, on March 18, 1997; two brothers, Herbert Landes and Harman Landes; and one sister, Goldie Taylor.
Mr. Landes was a retired school bus driver for the Mineral County Board of Education, and a farmer.
He also served as a deputy assessor for Mineral County. He was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and a Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are a son, Lyle W. Landes and wife Althea, Antioch; three sisters, Pearl Judy, Petersburg, Marie VanMeter, Cabins, and Gail Parker, Authur; three grandchildren, Teresa Delozier and husband Russell, and Lyla Whetzel and husband Ray, all of Antioch, and Lawayne Boyles and husband Mark, Basin, Wyo.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Antioch United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Anderson officiating.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services.

BESSIE M. LANDES
NEW CREEK, W.Va. - Bessie Mae (Feaster) Landes, 90, of HC 75, Box 80, Antioch Route, New Creek, died Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at her residence.
Born July 25, 1906, at Maysville, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Ellen (Puffenbarger) Feaster.
Mrs. Landes formerly taught in schools in Grant County and was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Edgar H. Landes; one son, Lyle W. Landes and wife Althea, Antioch; one sister, Lucy Shreve, New Creek; three grandchildren, Teresa Delozier, Antioch, Lyla Whetzel, Antioch, and Lawayne Boyles, Basin, Wyo.; and eight great-grandchildren.
