DORMAN O. COWGILL
PAW PAW, W.Va. - Dorman Osmond Cowgill, 75, of Paw Paw, died Saturday, June 7, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born September 16, 1921, at Neals Run, he was a son of the late Thomas Frederick Granville Cowgill and the late Ada (Abe) Cowgill. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Mr. Cowgill was a trustee of Bethel United Methodist Church. He worked for A.C. Moon Construction for 20 years and later operated a dozer for Carl O. Cowgill.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Oleda (Hockenberry) Cowgill; two sons, Albert L. Cowgill and Carl O. Cowgill, both of Paw Paw; one daughter, Juanita Norton, Fort Washington, Md.; two sisters, Thelma Shanholtz and Doris Allen, both of Hagerstown, Md.; three brothers, Leroy Cowgill, Paw Paw, Darwin Cowgill, Hagerstown, Md., and Edwin Cowgill, Inwood; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at 1 p.m. with Martin Rudolph, Minister, officiating.

Interment will be in Bethel cemetery, Paw Paw.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, Inc., 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401, or the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.

ROBERT N. LEWIS
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Robert Nay Lewis, 38, of Baltimore, Md., was murdered during a robbery in Baltimore on Tuesday, July 22, 1997.
Born December 28, 1958, in Cumberland, he was the son of Robert A. Lewis and Helen Shelley-Lewis, both of Ridgeley.

Mr. Lewis was a bartender at the Baltimore Engineers Club.

In addition to his parents, surviving are one brother, Anthony S. Lewis and wife Helen, Wrightsville, Pa.; one sister, Belinda A. Clark, Short Gap; paternal grandfather, Robert N. Lewis and wife Elsie, Spring Lake, Fla.; paternal grandmother, Orlena N. Tipton and husband George, Wiley Ford; several aunts and uncles; four nieces; two nephews; and many cousins.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Friday from noon to 1 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Calvin M. Roop officiating.

Interment will be in Fort Ashby cemetery.

BELLA H. FARRIS
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Bella Hope Farris, 69, of 41 1/2 Jones St., Piedmont, died Sunday, March 16, 1997, at Union City Hospital, Union City, Pa.
Born April 22, 1927, at Beryl, she was a daughter of Claude A. Wilt and Mary S. (Portizler) Wilt. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Farris, in 1994; and a son, Mike Junkins.

Mrs. Farris was a lab technician for Westvaco Corp. She retired after 41 years of service. She was a member of Kelly Mansfield Post 52 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and Piedmont Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Brenda Long and husband Bill, Union City, Pa.; one brother, Guthrie Wilt, New Jersey; one sister, Eugenia Hinebaugh, Piedmont; and three grandsons, William H. Long II, Christopher M. Long, and Sean M. Junkins.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be at the funeral home Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Nurnberger officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

CHARLOTTE M. LIGHT
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Charlotte M. Light, 72, of Ridgeley, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 21, 1997.
Born Feb. 10, 1925, in Salisbury, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Edith (Shrock) Livengood. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Light Sr.; an infant son; and two brothers, Edison and Robert Livengood.

Mrs. Light was a member of the Pinto Mennonite Church, where she was active with Hannah's Helpers and the World's Attic. She served her Lord with her life, and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and her church family. She always had a helping hand and a smile for all.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel W. Light Jr. and wife Ann, Pinto, and Douglas M. Light and wife Judith, Patterson Creek; two daughters, Deborah L. Hill and husband Robert, Hershey, Pa., and Cynthia L. Kenney and husband Douglas, Fort Ashby; two brothers, Ralph "Gene" Livengood and wife Helen, Alexandria, Va., and James Livengood and wife Judy, Martinsburg; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ernest and Mildred Light; two sisters, Pauline Ward, Ridgeley, and Miriam Llewellyn, Potomac Park; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the Pinto Mennonite Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sven Miller and the Rev. Lester Hershey officiating.

The body will be taken to church an hour prior to service time.

Interment will be in Pinto Mennonite cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Livengood, Eddie Livengood, James Livengood Jr., Rodney Livengood, Tim Llewellyn, and Dwight Llewellyn. Rick Livengood will be an honorary pallbearer.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hannah's Helpers, PO Box 44, Pinto, MD 21556.

ALMA B. COWHERD
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Alma Blandford Cowherd, 83, of Moorefield, died Monday, March 24, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Buckhannon.
Mrs. Cowherd had been in declining health. Her body was cremated.

Relatives and friends will be invited at a later date to celebrate both Mr. and Mrs. Cowherd's lives at their home in Moorefield.

Born April 21, 1913, in Morgantown, she was the daughter of the late James Benson Blandford and Josephine Jarboe Mudd Blandford. She was educated at the Washington School for Secretaries, the University of Maryland, College Park, and two years at the University of Maryland Medical School, Baltimore. In 1938 she married William Jerome Cowherd, of Cumberland, Md.

Surviving are two daughters, Josephine Blandford C. Link, Mount Sidney, Va., and Amy Perdew C. Williams, Buckhannon; one son, William Jerome Cowherd Jr., Parkersburg; three granddaughters and four grandsons; two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. Mr. Cowherd and one daughter, Mildred Luise Cowherd Carrette, preceded her in death.

For almost 40 years, she and Mr. Cowherd owned and operated the historic Hermitage Hotel and Motor Inn in Petersburg. The Inn's craft shop was the first place in the state where quality arts and crafts could be found. Many of the best artists and craftsmen were first promoted at her shop. For many years, she was a judge for the state at the annual Ripley Crafts Fair, and was extremely active in the early travel promotion in West Virginia. Along with Mr. Cowherd, she helped to organize and chair the West Virginia Whitewater Weekends.

Since their retirement in 1980, the Cowherds had made their home in Moorefield. Mrs. Cowherd was extremely proud of her family and loved her neighbors. She was an avid reader who never tired of learning. She collected small mechanical toys. She enjoyed young people, her gardens, bird and squirrel watching (as well as the occasional bear), playing bridge, and her group of friends, "the lunch bunch."

Memorials may be made to the Hardy County Public Library, Moorefield, WV 26836 or the Petersburg High School Scholarship Fund, Petersburg, WV 26847.

The Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, Buckhannon, is in charge of arrangements.

RHODA A. COX
KEYSER, W.Va. - Rhoda A. Cox, 92, of Route 2, Box 137D, Keyser, died Thursday, July 31, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born December 30, 1904, in Keyser, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Jacob and Rebecca (Kidwell) Green. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo M. Cox, on August 1, 1966, and one son, Larry Rudolph Cox.

Mrs. Cox was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Short Gap.

Surviving are one daughter, Imogene C. Dayton, Route 2, Keyser; one daughter-in- law, Betty Cox, Keyser; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday from 3 to 8 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Glessner and Mr. George Rosedale officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Missionary Services, Route 2, Box 421, Ridgeley, WV 26753.
