JEAN BRAY BROZ
LAKEWORTH, Fla. - Jean Bray Broz, 63, of Lakeworth, formerly of Blaine, W.Va., died Thursday, July 17, 1997, at Lakeworth. Born in Shaw, W.Va. she was a daughter of Ina (Simon) Bray, Blaine, and the late George Bray. She also was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul, Larry, Jimmy, Ellsworth "Bing," and Martin.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, John Broz; seven children; and nine grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Grimes, Philadelphia, Pa., and Christina Hilbert, Buffalo, N.Y.; two brothers, Ronald Bray, Haines, Fla., and Kenneth Bray, Gulfport, Fla. Funeral services and interment was held in Lakeworth, Fla.
FRANCES M. BRUMAGE
KEYSER, W.Va. - Frances M. Brumage, 73, of HC 84, Box 35, Keyser, died Saturday, April 5, 1997, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born May 2, 1923, at Green Mountain, she was a daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Barrick) Green. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Brumage, on Feb. 23, 1992; and two sons, Kenneth Brumage and Lawrence "Buck" Brumage Sr.
Mrs. Brumage was a member of the Harvest Time Pentecostal Church, Keyser.
Surviving are three daughters, Betty Jean Braithwaite and husband Donnie, Sandy Whetzel and husband Larry, and Beverly Jordan and husband Keith, all of Keyser; one son, Donald Mongold and wife Judy, Charleston; one sister, Virginia Shumaker, Keyser; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Shoemaker officiating.
JOHN L. BRUNK
CANTON, Ohio - John L. Brunk, 77, of 4003 30th St., NE, Canton, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Thursday, April 17, 1997, in Canton.
Born Feb. 20, 1920, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Welby Brunk and the late Mae (Fianagan) Brunk. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthelda (Sears) Brunk; and a brother, Roy Brunk.
Mr. Brunk was a retired employee of LTV. He was a member of Moose Lodge 233 and the LTV Retirees Club.
Surviving are a son, Craig Brunk and wife Phyllis, Canton; four grandchildren, Christinia Brunk, Amanda Brunk, Tiffany Brunk and Michael Brunk, all of Canton; a sister, Susan Gloyd, Barberton; two brothers-in-law, Arthur L. Sears, Everett, Pa., and Harold Sears, Cumberland; a sister-in-law, Rita Frisk, Woodbridge, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Turner officiating.
ELI JAMES BRUNO
KEYSER, W.Va. - Eli James Bruno, infant son of John E. Bruno, Jr., and Denise L. (Williamson) Bruno of Route 2, Box 20-A, Keyser, died at birth on Monday, Oct. 20, 1997 at the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are: two brothers, John David Bruno and Scott E. Bruno, both at home; maternal grandparents, the Rev. James and Edna Williamson; and paternal grandparents, John and Wanda Bruno, all of Keyser.
Private graveside services will be conducted at the Potomac Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Daniel Garlitz officiating. Interment will follow.
The Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, is in charge of arrangements.
RETHA J. BUCKLEY
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Retha Jean Buckley, 56, of Romney, died Tuesday, April 1, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born June 2, 1940, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Martha S. Martin, Romney. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Olen M. Buckley, on July 8, 1984.
Mrs. Buckley was president of Buckley's Distributing Co., Romney. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 1101, Romney; American Legion Auxiliary Post 91, Romney; and the Women of the Moose, Romney.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two sons, Gregg S. Buckley, Hobson, Mont., and Gary W. Buckley and wife Kim, Romney; one daughter, Brenda J. McBride and husband Mike, Romney; and one grandson, Matthew W. McBride.
At the request of the deceased, her body was cremated. There will be no visitation or funeral service.
Memorials may take the form of donations to the Hampshire County Helping Hands. The Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, is in charge of the arrangements.
LESTER W. FULTZ
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Lester Willard Fultz, 81, of Romney, beloved husband, father, grandfather, stepgrandfather, and great-grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at his residence.
Born April 21, 1915, at Higgensville, he was a son of the late Benjamin T. and Agnes (King) Fultz. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Wyona (Haines) Fultz, in 1957; and one brother, Edward M. Fultz, in 1980.
Mr. Fultz was a truck driver for Moran Trucking Co., Westernport, and a farmer. He was a member of Little Capon Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee; and the Farm Credit Bureau and Southern States.
Surviving are his wife, Viola R. (Pingley) Fultz, Romney; three daughters, Ruby M. Albright, Romney, Donna Jean Taylor and husband Roger, Purgitsville, and Leslie R. Ganoe and husband Jamie, Augusta; one stepson, Richard "Rick" Wilfong and wife Elayne, Stephens City, Va.; two stepdaughters, Pamela R. Haines and husband Bob, Romney, and Diana L. Saville and husband Donald "Duck," Carlisle, Pa.; two brothers, Wilco F. Fultz, Martinsburg, and Benjamin H. Fultz, Bunker Hill; three sisters, Margaret V. Grahn, Martinsburg, H. Pauline Fultz, Romney, and Helen F. Alexander, La Mirada, Calif.; three grandsons; nine stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the Little Capon Baptist Church in Three Churches, W.Va. on Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James M. Tyree officiating. Mr. Fultz's body will be taken to the church one hour before the service.
VIOLET D. BURKHART
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Violet D. Burkhart, 81, formerly of Ridgeley, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 1997, at the Westminster Nursing and Convalescent Center, Westminster.
Born Oct. 6, 1915, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Sarah (Bishop) Deneen.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wesley Burkhart, Sr., and his son, Charles Wesley Burkhart, Jr.
Mrs. Burkhart was retired from the Celanese Corporation with 35 years' service.
She had been a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 914.
Survivors include Mr. Burkhart's children, Jean Marie Hawse, Westminster, and Wesley Howard Burkhart, Fullerton, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home on Thursday from noon until 2 p.m.
The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Benny Brakeall officiating.
JAMES F. BOWERS JR.
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - James F. Bowers Jr., 76, of Fort Ashby, died Monday, March 3, 1997, in Memorial Hospital.
Born March 7, 1920, in Fort Ashby, he was the son of the late J. Floren Bowers Sr., and Carrie (Keister) Bowers. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Willa L. (Broome) Bowers on Jan. 10, 1997; one sister, Mabel Bowers; and two brothers Eldon Bowers, U.S. Navy killed in World War II, and Arnold C. Bowers.
Mr. Bowers was a graduate of Ridgeley High School. He was a retired bus driver for the Mineral County Board of Education, and served as leader/advisor for the Mineral County 4-H Club and the Future Farmers of America. He helped with the Mineral County Fair and Livestock Sale. In addition, he was known for barbequing beef at the Burlington Apple Festival. He was a member of Trucks Unlimited; the Upper Potomac Auto Club; and the West Virginia Farm Bureau. He was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are his son, James H. Bowers, Fort Ashby; one sister, Jean Emch and husband Joe, Morgantown; one brother, Herman M. Bowers, Morgantown; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 6, 1997, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard C. Broome Jr. officiating.
