ERNEST R. FISHER
MOUNT STORM, W.Va. - Ernest Randolph Fisher, 91, of Mount Storm, died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Heartland of Keyser, where he had resided the past month.
Born Jan. 17, 1906, in Mount Storm, he was a son of the late Charles M. and Delia E. (Hanlin) Fisher. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Dodd M. Fisher; three sisters, Mabel Arnold, Bertie Lynch, and an infant sister, Dorothy Fisher.
Mr. Fisher was a mechanic for the Bell Taxi Cab Company, Washington, D.C. for 30 years. Since 1972, he was an active member of the Mount Storm Volunteer Fire Company serving as fire chief for several years. He was a member of the Mount Storm United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy Jackson, Elk Garden; two sisters, Juanita Moreland, Mount Storm, and Odessa Kisner, Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Charles A. Fisher, Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, 11 North Main St., Petersburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at Mount Storm United Methodist Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Shelba Sisler officiating.
Memorials may be made to Mount Storm United Methodist Church or to Mount Storm Volunteer Fire Company.
BURBON B. CARPENTER
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Burbon Bernarr Carpenter, 88, of Romney, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at the Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney.
Born Feb. 4, 1909, in Lost City, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Brumbach) Carpenter. He also was preceded in death by his wife, M. Hildred (Wolford) Carpenter, on March 21, 1993; one brother, Ray Carpenter; and two sisters, Hallie Cian and Claudia Davis.
Mr. Carpenter owned and operated a Modern Woodman Insurance Agency for approximately 20 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Romney, and the Independent Order of Oddfellows, Petersburg. He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and fishing.
Surviving are one son, Max D. Carpenter, Romney; two sisters, Christine Steininger, Keyser, and Ethelyn Hess, Lebannon, Pa.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, March 23, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Frank Meadows officiating.
LOLA I. ARNOLD
SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Lola Imogene Arnold, 70, of Short Gap, died Saturday, May 10, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 12, 1926, in Mineral County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Blanche (Biser) Spencer. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Wayne Arnold; one brother, Arnold Spencer; and two sisters, Edna Wagoner, Helen Brown and Hazel Spencer.
Mrs. Arnold was retired from Sacred Heart Hospital, where she had worked in the housekeeping department. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women for more than 50 years, and was past president of the organization. She also was a member of the Short Gap Senior Citizens.
Surviving are five children, Kenneth Wayne Arnold and wife Sandy, Luling, La., Imogene F. Chaney and husband Ray, Short Gap, Leon Arnold and wife Shirley, Rawlings, Md., Shelia Houdersheldt and husband R. Wayne, Old Furnace Road, and Connie Grady and husband Dale, Fort Ashby; one brother, Ervin Spencer, Short Gap; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Fred Siple, Fort Ashby.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The service will be held at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Burke and the Rev. T. Gregory Lewis officiating.

BETTY LOU FLANAGAN
SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Betty Lou Flanagan, 57, of Short Gap, died Friday, June 6, 1997, in Oldtown, Md., as a result of a traffic accident.
Born August 11, 1939, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah (Rummer) Hull. She also was preceded in death by one son, Jason D. Flanagan; and one brother, Charles E. Hull.
Mrs. Flanagan was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Gerald L. Flanagan; one daughter, Kimberly Flanagan; two sons, Todd Flanagan and wife Kim, Vincent Flanagan and wife Angie, all of Short Gap; two sisters, Charlotte L. Ullery and husband David, Cumberland, Mary D. Field and friend Ron, Fergus Falls, Minn.; one brother, Joseph E. Hull and wife Shiela, Cresaptown; and three grandchildren, Taven Flanagan, Kyler Flanagan and Hunter Flanagan.

MAE B. HINES
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Mae B. Hines, 84, of the Dawn View Manor Nursing Home, Fort Ashby, formerly of Wiley Ford, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born May 16, 1913, in Delray, she was the daughter of the late Henry A. and Catherine (Baker) Carlile. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Beulah Sears.
Mrs. Hines was a former employee of the Crystal Laundry, and was a member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren. She attended the Springfield Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are one daughter, June A. Steward, Springfield; three brothers, Clinton Carlile, Wiley Ford, Joe Carlile, Ridgeley, and William "Shotgun" Carlile, Romney; two sisters, Mary Browning, Wiley Ford, and Minnie Vislocky, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Brenda Fields, Springfield, John Steward Jr., Short Gap, and Tammy Fields, Springfield; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

FALLING WATERS, W.Va. -James Calvin Griffey Jr., 44, of Falling Waters, formerly of Fort Ashby, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 1997, at his sister's residence.
Born Nov. 20, 1952, in Williamson, W.Va., he was the son of the late Rev. James Calvin Griffey Sr., and Chiquita (Chapman) Griffey.
Mr. Griffey graduated from Riddeford High School. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, where he had been a fireman. He was a surveyor having been employed by P.C. DiMagno Engineers & Surveyors in Martinsburg. Mr. Griffey belonged to the Emanuel House of Prayer, Springfield, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are three daughters, Jessica Griffey and Jennifer (Griffey) Andrews, both of Winchester, Va., and Sherri Clouting, London, England; one brother, Allen Griffey, Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Pamela Hahn, Falling Waters, and Evelyn Gayle Severin, Goose Creek, S.C.; and four grandchldren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 21, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Benjamin Smith officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the local combined military honor guard.
JOHN J. DUNN
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - John J. Dunn, 81, of Piedmont, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at his residence.
Born Jan. 27, 1916, in Lonaconing, Md., he was a son of the late John P. and Bessie (Johnston) Dunn. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Dunn retired from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office as a deputy. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of the Kelly-Mansfield Post No. 52, Piedmont, the Midland Sportsman's Club, and the Disabled American Veterans of Florida.
Surviving are his wife, Mary C. (McGoye) Dunn, Piedmont; one daughter, Margaret Ann Stacy and husband Ted; two grandchildren, Thomas and Heather, all of Florida.
