WALTER V. WILTROUT
SPRINGFIELD, W.Va. - Walter V. "Nip" Wiltrout, 67, of Bobtown, Pa., died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Feb. 26, 1930, in Bobtown, he was a son of the late Samuel E. and Florence (Hutchinson) Wiltrout. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Jean McClure.

Mr. Wiltrout resided in Bobtown all of his life and, for the past 10 years, he and his wife spent their summers in Springfield, W.Va. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany. Mr. Wiltrout retired as a mine foreman from the Shannopin Mine in Bobtown.

He was a member of the Bobtown United Methodist Church; VFW Post 5567, Bobtown; U.M.W.A. Bobtown Local 6159; the Bobtown Rod and Gun Club; Waynesburg Lodge No. 153, F.& A.M.; and the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection.

Mr. Wiltrout was an associate member of the Springfield, W.Va., United Methodist Church; the Gideons Hampshire Camp of Romney, W.Va; and the Springfield Ruritan. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving are his wife, Edith K. (McAndrews) Wiltrout, whom he married on Sept. 23, 1955; three daughters, Susan K. Wiltrout, Morgantown, W.Va., Cindy L. Wiltrout, Manhattan, Ill., and Mrs. Clint (Carole L.) Wade, Core, W.Va; three sisters, Irene Bailey, Sebring, Fla., Frances Kelly, Bobtown, and Shirley Toedter, Leavenworth, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine St., Route 88, Carmichaels, Pa., on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Waynesburg Lodge No. 163 will conduct Masonic services at the funeral home on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Services will be at the Bobtown United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 8, 1997, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Debra Shreve officiating. VFW Post 5567 and Cumberland American Legion Post 400 will conduct military services following the church service.

FRANK E. WINTERSTEIN
WILEY FORD, W.Va. - Frank Eldridge Winterstein, 72, of P.O. Box 70, Wiley Ford (Short Gap area), passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 24, 1925, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Frank E. and Theresa Bernadette (Rice) Winterstein. He also was preceded in death by a son, James F. Winterstein. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Winterstein was retired from the C&P; Telephone Company, where he worked as a transmission engineer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II and the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Esther Mae (Newlen) Winterstein, Short Gap; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Winterstein's wishes were that he be cremated. Services will be held at a later date.

The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.

MARCELLUS B. WOLFE
WILEY FORD, W.Va. - Marcellus Benadict Wolfe, 80, of Wiley Ford, died Thursday, May 22, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 15, 1916, in Ridgeley, he was the son of the late Marquard W. and Anna Mary (Miltenberger) Wolfe. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Wolfe; and four sisters, Dottie Sandy, Rosalia Welsh, Margaret Hudson and Clara Breighner.

Mr. Wolfe was a farmer. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cumberland, and the Wiley Ford Volunteer Fire Co.

Surviving are one brother, Richard W. Wolfe, Norfolk, Va.; three sisters, Elizabeth C. Breighner, Cumberland, Mary Frances Hill, Wiley Ford, and Virginia W. Boggs, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with Father Vance Pastorius, O.F.M., Cap., as celebrant.

Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery, Cumberland.

Pallbearers will be Tom Hudson, Jack Hudson, Jim Hudson, Lou Fabbri, Pete Wilhelm and Harold Hudson.

EDWARD "BUD" WOLFORD
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Edward Palmer "Bud" Wolford, 68, of 604 Forest Glenn Road, Silver Spring, died on Thursday, Nov. 6, 1997, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring.
He was born in Keyser, W.Va., on Feb. 5, 1929, and was the son of the late Edward H. and Bernice (Palmer) Wolford.

Mr. Wolford was a graduate of Piedmont High School, Piedmont, and Potomac State College, Keyser. He was Presbyterian by faith.

Mr. Wolford retired from the Bechtel Corporation with 24 years of service as a senior electrical designer. He spent many years coaching softball teams; he coached for Bechtel, Evergreen Liquors and his own softball team in the Frederick area.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Bosley) Wolford; one son, Edward P. Wolford, Jr., Silver Spring; one sister, Margaret (Wolford) Chaney; and a nephew, Richard B. Chaney, Jr., Silver Spring.

Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John Garrison, pastor of Piedmont Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Philos cemetery, Westernport.

HAZEL L. WOLFORD
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Hazel Lenore Wolford, 78, of Fort Ashby, went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born March 24, 1919, in Mullens, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Allen Massie and Ethel (Doyle) Massie Bone.

She also was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Joyce Ann Sampson; and three sisters, Agnes McCall, Virginia Decker and Mildred Ott.

Mrs. Wolford had worked at the Cumberland Celanese Plant.

She attended the First Wesleyan Church, Cresaptown.

Survivors include her husband, Earl B. Wolford; one son, E. Bernard Wolford and wife, Kathleen, Marietta, Ga.; one step-daughter, Mary Jo Baldwin and husband, Paul Richard, Fort Ashby; a step-son-in-law, Robert Sampson, Fort Ashby; one sister Lucille Carter, Eckhart; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Lowery officiating.

Interment will be in Fort Ashby cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesleyan Christian Academy, P.O. Box 5145, Cresaptown, MD 21505.

VELMA WOLFORD
NEW CREEK, W.Va. - Velma Wolford, 71, of HC 72, Box 62, New Creek, died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Sept. 28, 1925, at Dry Fork, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late John and Minnie (Flanagan) Wolford.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathryn Hottle, New Creek; one brother, Clarence Wolford, New Creek; one sister, Nettie Whetzel, Keyser; one grandson, Robert Dixon and wife Rose, Keyser; and one great-granddaughter, Jennifer Dixon.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Herman Baliles officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

WALTER E. WOODSON
SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Walter E. "Woody" Woodson, 77, of Short Gap, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at his residence.
Born July 24, 1919, in Springfield, he was the son of the late Walter E. Woodson Sr. and Margaret (Krause) Woodson.

Mr. Woodson was a retired employee of the Hercules Corp. in Cumberland, Md. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn A. (Kerns) Woodson; one son, John W. Woodson and wife Mary, Warren, Mich.; three daughters, Judy Woodson Bruhn and husband Greg, Raleigh, N.C., Diane L. Sinclair and husband John, Evan, Ga., and Sandra K. Woodson, Missoula, Mont.; two brothers, Frank E. Woodson and wife Janet, and J. Donald Woodson and wife Jerry, all of Springfield; four grandsons, John W. Woodson, Daniel A. Sinclair, Nathan K. Sinclair, and George W. Bruhn; and special nieces, Jennifer Biedka and Pamela Thomas.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Neumark officiating.

Interment will be in Springfield Hill cemetery.

Contributions can be made to the Potomac Valley Hospital Home Health/Hospice Unit, Keyser, W.Va.
