JESSIE A. THOMPSON
KEYSER, W.Va. - Jessie A. Thompson, 93, of Route 1, Box 172-C, Keyser, died Monday, Nov. 24, 1997, at the Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport.
Born on May 11, 1904, at Elk Garden, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Abraham and Josie Belle (Delawder) Aronhalt. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ocie Thompson, on Sept. 30, 1962; two sons, Tony and Lawrence Thompson; and one daughter, Darcie Lee Thompson.
Surviving are four sons, Delmar Thompson, New Creek, W.Va., Jason Thompson, Maysville, W.Va., Elmer Thompson, Keyser, and Marvin Thompson, New Creek; seven daughters, Vercie Gregory, Oakland, Mary Ross, Swanton, Freda Corwin, Westover, W.Va., Edith Haggerty, Burlington, W.Va., Ruby Moreland, Romney, W.Va., Rella Whetzel, Piedmont, W.Va., and Annie Westfall, Winchester, Va.; an adopted grandson whom she reared, Marvin Junior Thompson, Huttonsville, W.Va.; one sister, Mary Etta Aronhalt, New Creek; 51 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating.
RAY THOMPSON
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Ray Thompson, 88, of Route 1, Elk Garden, died Easter Sunday at his residence.
Born May 3, 1908, in Riverton, he was a son of the late Churchwill and Rebecca (Mallow) Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was retired from the B&O; Railroad, and was a lifelong farmer. He also was an avid hunter.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma Ellen (Durst) Thompson, with whom he celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary Thursday, March 27, 1997; one son, Ronnie Thompson and wife Diane, Keyser; four daughters, Ethel and husband Buddy Aronhalt, Baltimore; Violet Abernathy, New Creek, Thelma and husband John Hershberger, Kitzmiller, Md., and Dorothy and husband Jim Bonner, New Creek; one brother, Mark Thompson, Covington, Va.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiatng.
WILMA E. THOMPSON
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Wilma Ellen Thompson, 83, of Elk Garden, died Tuesday at the residence of her daughter.
Born Aug. 27, 1913, in Emoryville, she was a daughter of the late Meshic and Cora Mae Durst. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Ray Thompson, who died Easter Sunday, March 30, 1997.
Surviving are one son, Ronnie Thompson and wife Diane, Keyser; four daughters, Ethel Aronhalt and husband Buddy, Baltimore, Violet Abernathy, New Creek, Thelma Hershberger and husband John, Kitzmiller, and Dorotha Bonner and husband Jim, New Creek; one sister, Martha Louise Harvey, Akron, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

GLADYS E. TIBBETTS
FAIRVIEW, W.Va. - Gladys E. Tibbetts, 84, of Fairview, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at Fairmont General Hospital, Fairmont.
Born May 18, 1913, in Farmington, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Clarence J. and Mae E. (Williams) Morris. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Tibbetts, formerly of Piedmont, on Feb. 11, 1990; three brothers, Thomas, George, and Robert Morris; and two sisters, Charlotte Statler and Hazel Artman.
Mrs. Tibbetts was a retired waitress having worked at Chiam Restaurant, Cleveland, Ohio.
Surviving are a sister, Louise M. Ammons, Fairview; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.
RAYMOND C. TROWBRIDGE
KEYSER, W.Va. - Raymond Charles Trowbridge, 76, of 500 Carskadon Lane, Keyser, died Friday, July 25, 1997, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born May 4, 1921, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of the late Lewis C. and Helen (Warriner) Trowbridge.
Mr. Trowbridge was a Presbyterian by faith. He was a US Army veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. His military career spanned 17 years on active duty and two years in the reserves. He was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with the Bronze Campaign Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge with Silver Star. He also was a member of the Queens Point Memorial Post 6775, VFW, McCoole, Md.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane T. Warner, Cumberland, and Pamela T. Burgess, Sterling, Va.; he was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen P. Fritz officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, where graveside military honors will be accorded.
LEWIS C. TURNER, JR.
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Lewis C. "Blackie" Turner Jr., 69, of Moorefield, died Thursday, March 27, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Aug. 3, 1927, in Birmingham, Ala., he was the son of the late Lewis C. Turner Sr. and Magdalene (Craven) Turner. He also was preceded in death by two sisters.
Mr. Turner was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and an employee and manager of J&K; Pest Control for 24 years.
Surviving are his wife, Josephine (Bierkamp) Turner; two daughters, Nancy Dean, Romney, and Kay Shook, Baker; five brothers, Jimmy Turner, Florence, S.C., Raymond Turner, Carrollton, Ga., Jackie Turner, Florence, S.C., Truman Turner, Marion, Ind., and Gary Turner, Heflin, Ala.; one sister, Kathy Turner, Romney; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, March 29, 1997, at 2 p.m. with Gene Kessel officiating.
DOROTHY I. TWYMAN
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Dorothy I. Twyman, 58, of 46 E. Fairview St., Piedmont, died March 14, 1997, at her residence.
Born April 29, 1938, in Romney, she was the daughter of the late Ulysess G. Denmark and Helen E. Smith. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd M. Twyman Sr., on April 6, 1991; and a sister, Lina Peral.
Mrs. Twyman was a homemaker, and a faithful and active member of the Church of God in Christ. She was president of the senior choir and a past Sunday school teacher.
Surviving are two sons, Larry E. Denmark and fiancee Elvira, Piedmont, and Floyd M. Twyman Jr., Seattle, Wash.; three daughters, Brenda McKenzie, Cumberland, Deborah Sinclair, and Lanette Twyman and husband Gavin, Seattle, Wash.; four brothers, Junior Denmark and wife Diane, Joe Denmark and wife Lil, and William Denmark and wife Martha, all of Boston, Mass., and Lawrence "Buddy" Smith and wife Goldie, Romney; two sisters, Frances W. Woods and husband Raymond, Indianapolis, Ind., and Phyllis Barr and husband John, Baltimore, Md.; and 11 grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett, the Rev. Henderson Wheeler, the Rev. Lester Clifford, and Pastor Darin Allen officiating.

CHARLOTTE G. VANDEGRIFT
KEYSER, W.Va. - Charlotte G. Vandegrift, 88, of Route 4, Box 19, Keyser, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.
Born January 19, 1909, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Harry D. and Mae (Ruby) Grimes. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Vandegrift, on September 14, 1985; one sister, Margaret (Grimes) Everhart; and one brother, Harry G. Grimes.
Mrs. Vandegrift was retired from the federal government having been employed with the Veterans Administration for 23 years. She was a member of Rawlings United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one niece, Linda E. Wiley, Keyser; two nephews, Lysle R. Everhart, Glen Burnie, and Harry G. Grimes, Barnesville, Ohio; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
At Mrs. Vandegrift's request, there will be no public visitation or services.
Private interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery, Cumberland, at a later date.
