THELMA R. MCCARTY
BURLINGTON, W.Va. - This is an obituary of and tribute to Thelma Ruby Lambert McCarty, whose life was tragically ended at her home in Burlington. She will be sadly and deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Born Jan. 23, 1921, Thelma Ruby Lambert was the wife of the late Lester LeRoy McCarty. She was the mother of Raymond LeRoy McCarty, Keyser, Emma Marie Daniels, Petersburg, and the late Allen David McCarty and Frank Everett McCarty. Surviving, in addition to her son and daughter, are her five grandchildren, Patrick Wade McCarty, Josette Vania-Marie McCarty, Carrie Irene McCarty, all of Ridgeley, Donna McCarty, Baltimore, and Tammy Krystofiak, Winchester, Va. She is survived by other numerous family members and many, many dear friends.
Thelma was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. She devoted most of her time to helping others, not enjoying herself and, therefore, does not have a long list of organizations to place here; but, a very long list of friends and acquaintances that could go here instead. Thelma was a wonderful lady that helped anyone and everyone that needed her help. She never met a stranger and never refused to help anyone, treating them all as members of her family. Many people knew her as "Ma" or "Mom" McCarty. Children adopted her as "Grandma." She just had a way about her that made everyone want to know her better and deeper.
She was an avid lover of animals, especially birds. Her home would always resound with the lovely voices of her canaries singing and her parakeets. She was a simple woman that had simple ways, but enough love and friendship to give and spread around the world. The memories of this "lady" will continue on forever.
Anyone wishing to send us a letter about her to be read at the memorial service may send it to the address below. Her memorial is to be held along with that of her son, Frank Everett McCarty, at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at 1 p.m.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to Patrick McCarty, P.O. Box 404, Ridgeley, WV 26753, or c/o The Boal Funeral Home, 111 Church St., Westernport, MD 21562.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all who have kept us in their prayers and have helped in any way. We especially wish to thank the Boal Funeral Home for their help in our time of sorrow. We deeply appreciate all of you and may "God Richly Bless You All!"
