DR. FREDERICK MOOMAU
PETERSBURG, W.Va. - Dr. Frederick Moomau, 69, of Olney, Md. and formerly of Petersburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997 at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore.
Born April 23, 1928 in Petersburg, he was the son of the late William C. and Sara (Taylor) Moomau. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, William T. Moomau and Lewis S. Moomau; and one sister, Anne Katherine Thomas.
Dr. Moomau was a 1946 graduate of Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pa. After serving as a Navy Radar Technician, he attended West Virginia University, graduating in 1953. A 1957 graduate of the University of Maryland Medical School, Dr. Moomau interned first at the old Garfield Hospital in the District and later at Washington Hospital Center. He was a resident in Internal Medicine at George Washington University Hospital from 1960-1962.
After several years' practice in his hometown of Petersburg, Dr. Moomau returned to the Washington area in 1965 where he practiced Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Montgomery General Hospital. There he was instrumental in developing their coronary intensive care unit, and in 1970 he formed Montgomery Internal Medicine Associates, a group practice.
Dr. Moomau retired in 1987. He was an emeritus member of both the Montgomery County and Maryland Medical Societies.
He was an elder of The New Hope Presbyterian Church of Olney.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Moomau; a stepson, Stephen Knight, Charleston, S.C.; three children from his first marriage to Jennie (Johnson) Moomau, Glenn Moomau, Baltimore, Mary Anne Wells, Wilmington, Del., and John Frederick Moomau, Dallas, Texas; two brothers, George B. Moomau, Petersburg, and Henry F. Moomau, Oakland; three sisters, Mary N. Clark, and Margaret M. Coffman, both of Petersburg, and Sara M. King, Warsaw, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Donald G. Scofield and the Rev. Wally Harman officiating.
Family will receive friends on Friday at noon, one hour prior to the 1 p.m. service.

FRANK E. MORELAND SR.
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Frank Elwood Moreland Sr., 83, of Point Marion, Pa., formerly of Elk Garden, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born March 11, 1914, in Gleason, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ollie Mae (Eversole) Moreland. He also was preceded in death by one son, Samuel L. Moreland.
Mr. Moreland was a retired coal miner.
Surviving are his wife, Rena V. (Davis) Moreland, Elk Garden; eight sons, Edward and wife Ruth, Crystal, Pa., Harry K. and wife Mildred, Elk Garden, Phillip and wife Sandy, Reedsville, Frank and wife Linda, Elk Garden, Michael, Elk Garden, Charles and wife Yvonne, Dilliner, Pa., Elwood and wife Linda, Smithfield, Pa., Joseph and wife Kathleen, New Geneva, Pa.; four daughters, Icolene Shillingburg, Newport News, Va., Lyndol Shillingburg and husband Roy K., Elk Garden, Marcia Lucas and husband William, Kitzmiller, Md., and Lois Sadler, Gans, Pa.; one brother, Eugene Moreland, Mount Storm, who is the last surviving member of the immediate family; 42 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Elk Garden Church of God on Saturday at noon with the Rev. Byron Mayberry and the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating.
RAYMOND L. REDMAN
KEYSER, W.Va. - Raymond L. "Shorty" Redman, 65, of 42 Spring St., Keyser, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Nov. 22, 1931, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late John E. and Viola M. (George) Redman.
Mr. Redman was a retired head steward for VFW Post No. 6775, McCoole, Md., a former brakeman for the B&O; Railroad, and was an employee in the bobbin shop of the Celanese Corporation. He was a social member of VFW Post No. 6775, McCoole, and a former member of Moose Lodge No. 622, Keyser. He was Protestant by faith.
Surviving are his wife, Regina M. "Jean" Redman; one daughter, Debbra J. Spiker; one son, Gary L. Redman, both of Keyser; three grandchildren, Eric James Spiker, Jeffrey Todd Spiker, and Jessica Nichol Redman; six sisters, Frances Jones, Texas, Alma Nowobilski, Chicago, Anna Mae Kincaid, Cumberland, Shirley Carnes, Cumberland, Helen Edwards, Baltimore, and Carol Hall, Oldtown; four brothers, Robert Redman, Ridgeley, Jack Redman, Westernport, Donald Redman and Richard Redman, both of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Markwood McKenzie Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen P. Fritz officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
The family requests memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
JIMMY MORELAND, SR.
SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Jimmy Moreland, Sr., 58, of Short Gap, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1938, in Mineral County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Paul D. and Nona Mae (Shoemaker) Moreland. He also was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lee Moreland.
Mr. Moreland was a heavy equipment operator employed by Walter N. Yoder and Sons.
He was a member of the I.U.O.E. Local #37, Cumberland.
Mr. Moreland was a life-long resident of Mineral County.
Surviving are his wife, Anna (Miller) Moreland; a son, Jimmy Moreland, Jr., Short Gap; a daughter, Paula Mae (Moreland) Moomaw, Short Gap; step-children, Martha Turner, Burlington, N.C., Carol Canfield, Bradenton, Fla., Dale Canfield, Manassas, Va., Edward Canfield, LaVale, Paul Iski and Sandy Suter, both of Ridgeley; two brothers, Roy Moreland and Ronald Moreland, both of Short Gap; one sister, Ada (Moreland) Lewellen, Short Gap; one grandson, Dakota Jeffrey Moreland; ten step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation.
At Mr. Moreland's request, his body was cremated.
A memorial service will be held at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Daren L. Ritchey officiating.

PHILIP C. MORRIS
WILEY FORD, W.Va. - Philip C. Morris, 55, of Wiley Ford, died Sunday, June 1, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 10, 1941, in Wiley Ford, he was the son of the late Herman M. and Edith R. (Shrout) Morris. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Morris and Max Morris; and one sister, Louise Aldridge.
Mr. Morris was a member of the Church of Christ and the Local 37 Operating Engineers.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Carla R. (Skidmore) Morris; one daughter, Melinda Lovins and husband Gary, Cumberland; two sons, Philip Morris and Daniel Morris, both of Wiley Ford; two sisters, June Hutzell and husband Garland, Route 1, Ridgeley, and Evelyn Buser, Forest Acres, Ridgeley; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Funeral services and interment will be private.
The Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., is in charge of the arrangements.
ROBERT P. ROSS
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Robert Putnam Ross, 79, of Romney, died Friday, Aug. 22, 1997, at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 14, 1917, in Milwaukee, Wis., he was the son of the late Floyd Ross and Julia (Sawyer) Ross. He also was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Burns) Ross on June 30, 1986.
Mr. Ross was a board member of the Eastern Allegheny Council for Human Services, Inc. (Head Start), the Romney VFW Post No. 1101, and was a board member of Exodus House, Inc., which provided services for the homeless until 1991. He often volunteered as an advocate and sponsor of the disenfranchised of Hampshire County. He was a gentleman and good friend as well as a war hero of World War II.
Surviving are one daughter, Kathryn S. Ross, Lakewood, Colo.; one son, Stephen F. Ross and his wife Joan; and one granddaughter, Heather, all of South Bend, Ind.
Memorial services will be held at the Miller Funeral Home Chapel, 115 East Birch Lane, Romney, on Sunday, August 24, 1997, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Richard D. Reece, Assistant Pastor of the Metropolitan AME Church, Cumberland, officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date in the South Village cemetery, Dorset, Vt.
