KENNETH R. MILLER
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Kenneth R. Miller, 79, of Fort Ashby, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at his residence.
Born Nov. 15, 1918, in Everett, Pa., he was the son of the late Glenn and Judith (Howser) Miller. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth I. (Smith) Miller; one granddaughter, Katie Miller; three brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Miller was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was retired from Cumberland Electric, where he had done maintenance work.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; American Legion Post 41, Keyser; and Disabled American Veterans. He was a life member of the Purple Heart.
He organized the Fort Ashby Post 6667, V.F.W., and was a past commander. He had also served as Commander of the Fourth District. He also organized Fort Ashby Boy Scout Troop 69, where he served as a scout master for 30 years.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin Miller and wife Mary, Fort Ashby, and Terry Miller, Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Irene McGregor and husband Bill, and Carole Haines and husband Phillip, all of Fort Ashby; two brothers, Myron Miller and Orville Miller, both of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.
The service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Ashby cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be members of Scout Troop 69.
Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. by Troop 69, Boy Scouts of America.
Pallbearers will be Paul Douthitt, Scoutmaster, Rick Davis, Greg Pyles, Scott Turley, Kevin Turley and Tony Liller, all Eagle Scouts.
ALVIN E. PARSONS
CABINS, W.Va. - Alvin E. Parsons, 72, of Cabins, died Sunday, May 4, 1997, at his home.
Born April 26, 1925, at Dorcas, he was a son of the late Albert F. and Mary Susan (Reel) Parsons. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Roscoe, Harry, and Eston Parsons.
Alvin worked for Petersburg Exxon for several years, and attended Cabins Assembly of God Church. On Jan. 24, 1948, he married
Mary L. (Simpkins) Parsons.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Patricia A. Moyers and husband Donnie, and Diana L. Riggleman and husband Rick, all of Cabins; five grandchildren, Marcee and Tim Kesner, Chief of Police of Petersburg Butch Moyers and Rachel, Michael Moyers and Amy, Marisa Moyers, and Marenda Moyers; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Kesner; two sisters, Suella D. Crites, Moorefield, and Elizabeth Vance, Dorcas; one brother, Albert R. Parsons, Petersburg; two sisters-in-law, Arzella Parsons, Mountain Lake Park, Md., and Evelyn Parsons, Belleville, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be at the Cabins Assembly of God Church Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Landis and Pastor Calvin Redman officiating.
MAHLON S. MILLER SR.
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Mahlon S. Miller Sr., 85, of Sand Hill Road, Romney, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
Born March 10, 1912, in Needmore, he was the son of the late Martin H. and Lillian (Combs) Miller.
Mr. Miller was manager of Butler Orchards, and manager of Hepburn Orchards, both of Berkeley Springs. He retired from Ewers Orchards, Romney, in 1987.
Surviving are his companion, Madeline Cox, Romney; one son, Mahlon S. Miller Jr., Pompano, Fla.; three daughters, Shirley Bailey, Franklin, Sharon Barnes and Cora Price, Romney; two stepdaughters, Hilda Cox and Alice Colebank, Romney; two stepsons, Eugene Cox and Ronnie Cox, Berkeley Springs; six grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas W. Miller, Romney; three sisters, Nevada Taylor, Rawlings, Md., Wilma Nickleson, Hancock, and Beulah Grogg, Cumberland; two stepsisters, Ann Dyson, Baltimore, and Ann Haggai, Springfield; and two stepbrothers, Leroy Miller, Richmond, Va., and Robert Miller, Baltimore.
The family will receive friends at the Miller Funeral Home, 115 East Birch Lane, Romney, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. with his son-in-law Calvin Bailey and Joel Porter officiating.
ALICE B. RIGGLEMAN
RIG, W.Va. - Alice Belle Rumer Riggleman, 75, of Rig, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997, at Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
Mrs. Riggleman had been a resident of Hampshire Health Care Center since March 28, 1996.
Born July 4, 1922, in Rig, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Edward and Margaret Virginia (Crites) Rumer. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin W. Riggleman on April 15, 1996; two infant sisters; two sisters, Grace Hardy and Marietta Hinkle; and three brothers, Glenn, Wardney, and Edward Rumer.
Mrs. Riggleman was a member of Rig Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are one sister, Sarah Barr, Monrovia, Md.; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Merilyn Turner, Augusta.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Keegan Barr, a great-nephew, officiating.

MARY E. MONTOYA
KEYSER, W.Va. - Mary Elizabeth Montoya, 50, of 200 Argyle St., Keyser, formerly of Main Street, Westernport, Md., died Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 25, 1946, in Keyser, she was the daughter of Mary (Sirbaugh) Keyes, of Westernport, and the late Nelson Keyes.
Ms. Montoya was a nurses assistant at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two sons, Craig Montoya and wife Joan, and Mark Montoya and wife Belinda, all of Cumberland; two daughters, Beth Clark and friend Shane Rinker, and Reagan Montoya, both of Keyser; two brothers, John Keyes, Raleigh, N.C., and Jerry Keyes, Wynedot, Mich.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
At Ms. Montoya's request her body was cremated.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Jerry Schloe officiating.
ELEANORE C. MOOMAU
PETERSBURG, W.Va. - Eleanore Crippen Moomau, 88, of Petersburg, died Sunday, April 20, 1997, at the Grant County Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 5, 1909, at Roaring Branch, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Amos and Pearl (King) Crippen. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Moomau, on Feb. 9, 1980.
Mrs. Moomau attended Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music in Winchester, Va. She graduated from Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing, and did post graduate work at the Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital in New York City. She was Grant County Director of the Department of Health and Human Resources for 24 years. She was a member of the South Branch Valley DAR, and Past Matron and 50-year member of the Moorefield Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 102. She was an ordained elder of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are one brother, William Crippen, Holiday, Fla.; two foster children, Janet Barr, Petersburg, and Melvin Cullers, Aurora; four foster children; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Moorefield OES will conduct services at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donald G. Scofield and the Rev. Ray Rodeheaver officiating.
