BETTY L. WEBB
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Betty (Lancaster) Webb, 65, of Romney, formerly of Frostburg, Md., died Friday, July 24, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born June 24, 1933, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Argyle and Nellie M. (Airhart) Lancaster. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Kenney; twin sons; and two brothers, Donald and Melvin Lancaster.
She was retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md.
Surviving are her second husband, Paul W. Webb; three sisters, Linda K. Mannick, and husband, Robert, Frostburg, Sharon Buskirk, and husband, Charlie, Lonaconing, and Debra A. Murphy, and husband, Mike, Baltimore; four brothers, Leon Lancaster, and wife, Helen, Friendsville, James Lancaster, and wife, Mydell, Kensington, Md., Paul Lancaster, and wife, Judy, Beltsville, Md., and Argyle Lancaster Jr., Frostburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Private services will be conducted at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association.
MATTHEW H. WEBB
BURLINGTON, W.Va. - Matthew "Matt" Hamilton Staggers Webb, 15, of Route 1, Box 126 AA, Burlington, died Friday, May 15, 1998, at his residence.
Born Nov. 13, 1982, at Cumberland, Md., he was a son of David H. Webb and Mary Kaye Staggers. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harley O. Staggers Sr.; and his paternal grandfather, Kermit T. Webb.
Matthew was a ninth grade student at Keyser High School where he was an honor student and a member of the football, baseball and wrestling teams. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption, Keyser, and the Burlington Boy Scout Troop 83, Burlington. He participated in community theater and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his parents are one sister, Chloe Webb, at home; maternal grandmother, Mary C. Staggers, Keyser; and paternal grandmother, Inez Webb, Hurricane, W.Va.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption on Monday at 11 a.m. with Father James E. Casey as celebrant and Father Ivan Lebar, T.O.R., as concelebrant.
A Rosary/Wake Service will be conducted at the funeral home Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
MILDRED M. WELCH
KEYSER, W.Va. - Mildred Mae Welch, 91, of Keyser, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, Md.
Born Sept. 19, 1906, in Emoryville, she was the daughter of the late German V. and America (Rawlings) Murphy. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Clarence Welch.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth L. Welch, Keyser; one brother, Hubert L. Murphy Sr., New Creek; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, Md., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating.
WILLIAM W. WELKER
PETERSBURG, W.Va. - William Wallace Welker, 92, of Petersburg, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Grant County Nursing Home. Mr. Welker, a resident of 218 Pierpont St., Petersburg, since 1945, formerly resided in Keyser and Fort Ashby, W.Va.
Born June 10, 1906, at Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late William Wallace Welker and Blanche Kauffman Welker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Sandbower Welker. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Blanche Ridgway; and two brothers Richard Welker and Lloyd Welker.
Mr. Welker was a World War II veteran, a U.S. Navy Seabee. He was a retired employee of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service. He was a former member of the Mineral County Board of Education. In the early part of the 1970s, he was Mayor of Petersburg. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church; had been a member of the Administrative Board; Lay Speaker; Life Member of Burlington United Methodist Family Services Inc.
Surviving are one daughter, the Rev. Ann W. Harrison, and her husband, the Rev. Roger A. Harrison Sr., Oakland, Md.; three grandchildren, Kelley Jo Clarke, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Roger A. Harrison Jr., Morgantown, Elizabeth L. Harrison, Oakland; two great-granddaughters, Kylie Morgan Harrison and Ana Kose; several nieces and nephews; one brother, Harold L. Welker, Romney; and one sister, Mrs. Charles (Maxine) Smith, Short Gap.
Mr. Welker was an anatomical gift donor to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry. Memorial services will be held at Main Street United Methodist Church, Petersburg, on Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at 11 a.m. with Dr. John Wildman, the Rev. Richard Longbon and the Rev. Roger A. Harrison Sr., presiding.

HARVEY P. WELLER JR.
RICHMOND, Va. - Harvey Preston Weller Jr., 66, of Richmond, formerly of Paw Paw, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at his home.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Jan Rose Weller, and their five daughters, Katherine Rose Leme of Ashburn, Va., Barbara Jean Weller of Maidens, Va., Laura Jo Weller, Carla Elizabeth Haller and Judith Ann Weller, all of Richmond. He also is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Weller of Paw Paw; two sisters, Barbara Hanlin, Paw Paw, and Donna Robey, Martinsburg, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and three sons-in-law.
Mr. Weller graduated from Randolph Macon Military Academy in Front Royal in Virginia and Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1953 to 1956. In 1957, he was employed by Winthrop Laboratories in Nashville as a pharmaceutical sales representative. He was transferred to Richmond in 1965 as Sales Manager for Winthrop, where in 1994 he retired after 38 years of service.
Graveside services and interment will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Camp Hill cemetery, Paw Paw.
The Bliley Funeral Home, Staples Mill Chapel, Richmond, is in charge of arrangements.
BERNARD P. "SQUEAK" WELSH
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Bernard P. "Squeak" Welsh, 68, of Philos Avenue, died July 28, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, Md.
Born in 1929 in Westernport, Md., he was the son of the late John R. Welsh and Rose (Louth) Welsh. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Welsh, John Welsh and Edward Welsh; and one sister, Mary Ord.
Mr. Welsh retired in January 1992 as a roll wrapper for the Westvaco Corporation. He was a 1947 graduate of St. Peter's High School, a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Peter's Alumni Association, and the Piedmont Council #685 Knights of Columbus. Mr. Welsh served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a life member of the Victory Post #155, Westernport, Md., a member of the Black Hawk Tribe, and a social member of the Piedmont American Legion. Mr. Welsh was also a former member of the Blue Angels Drum and Bugle Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita (Clark) Welsh, Westernport; one brother, Charles Robert Welsh, Apopka, Fla.; and one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" McIntyre, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Father Jim Hannon officiating.
Christian Wake Services will be held at the Fredlock Funeral Home on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
Interment will be in the St. Peter's cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by various organizations.
GOLDIE C. WELSH
BURLINGTON, W.Va. - Goldie C. Welsh, 89, of Route 1, Box 121, Burlington, died Monday June 22, 1998, at the home of her daughter.
Born on Nov. 2, 1908, at Flats, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late William R. High and Nora C. (Liller) High Shoemaker. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Orin R. Welsh, in 1986; and a stepson, Charles Welsh.
Mrs. Welsh was formerly employed by the Celanese Amcelle Corporation and the Westvaco Luke Mill.
Surviving are one daughter, Laraine C. Michael, Burlington; two stepsons, Orin Welsh, Canton, Ohio, Arthur Welsh, Louisville, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Ann Stowell, Louisville, Ohio; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Welsh was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral chapel on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel Biser officiating.
