FREDA A. WILEY
WESTMINSTER, Calif. - Freda A. Wiley, 94, of Westminster, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, in Anaheim.
Born Sept. 17, 1904, in Douglas, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Jenetta (Painter) McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Robert Wiley, on Sept. 6, 1976.
She was a Lutheran by faith, a member of the Senior Citizens, and was a retired clerk for Sears. She is survived by two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn McKenzie, Eckhart, Md., and Edgar McKenzie, Lonaconing, Md.; five sisters, Agnes McKenzie and Beulah McKenzie, both of Akron, Ohio, Joy Perkins, Frostburg, Jenetta Yoder, Glen Burnie, Md., and Imogene Snyder, Export, Pa.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Grantsville cemetery, Grantsville, Md., with the Rev. David Fetter officiating.
Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, is in charge of arrangements.
KATHERINE WILKINS
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Katherine Hinkle Wilkins, age 80, of Moorefield, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Heartland of Keyser following a long illness.
She was born March 8, 1917, in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Jacob A. and Audrey Katherine (Walker) Miller. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel E. Hinkle, in January, 1997. Four sisters also preceded her in death.
Katherine had been a resident of Moorefield for over 60 years, a member of Duffey Memorial United Methodist Church, Mrs. Bean's Sunday School class, a member of Circle Two of the Church. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #102 of Moorefield, a member of the Riverside Homemakers Club, and a retired employee of Hester Industries of Moorefield.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Katherine Sherman, and husband, Glen, of Clendenin, W.Va.; son, Samuel L. Hinkle and wife, Yvonne, Moorefield; four grandchildren, Niel Sherman, Seoul, South Korea, Lisa Cantwell, Martinsburg, Kelly Jo Hinkle, Moorefield, and Wade Rohrbaugh, Dorcas, W.Va.; also surviving are four great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Cleal Wilkins, Moorefield.
Friends may call at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield on Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, from 6 to 9 p.m., at which time the family will receive friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Fraley Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Osgood officiating. Burial will follow in the Kline cemetery at Kline, W.Va.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
EVELYN H. WILLIAMS
KEYSER, W.Va. - Evelyn H. Williams, 91, of 1355 Lynmar St., Keyser, formerly of 8 Ormond St., Frostburg, Md., died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born May 28, 1907, in Midlothian, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Tippen) Higgins. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, Earl Weishaar and Daniel Williams; two sisters; and two brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Williams was retired from the Celanese Fibers Corp. where she was a lab technician. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption, Keyser, and was a graduate of the Frostburg Normal School.
Surviving are one niece, Mary Margaret Beck and husband Charlie; two great-nieces, Katie Kesner and husband Bob, and Melinda Riggleman and husband Walt and one great-nephew, Charlie Beck and wife Barbara, all of Keyser; 10 great-great-nieces and -nephews; and six great-great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William Moody officiating.
LUCILLE WILLIAMS
SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Lucille "Boots" (Hendricks) Williams, 75, of Short Gap, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice, Cumberland, Md.
Born Nov. 6, 1922, at Vivian, McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd B. and Onibet Hendricks. She also was preceded in death by one son, Henry R. "Hank" Williams II, in 1977.
Mrs. Williams was a long-time member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Short Gap, for which she served in various capacities over the years as a pianist, choir director, Sunday School Teacher and food pantry director.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph R. Williams; one son, Joseph R. William Jr., Lewistown, Pa.; two daughters, Mary Ellen Molly Hudkins and husband Jeffrey, Cowen, and Martha Jane Snyder, Short Gap; two grandsons, Paul Edward Snyder, Short Gap, Jordan Michael Hudkins, Cowen; two granddaughters, Shanon Renee Snyder and fiance William A. Smith, Short Gap, and Caitlin Elyse Hudkins, Cowen; one great-grandson, Eric William Smith, Short Gap; two brothers, Floyd B. "Cooney" Hendricks, and James L. Hendricks, Vivian; and five sisters, Mildred Hardee, Atwater, Calif., Phyllis "Crickett" Tibbs, Princeton, Patty Walker, Collinsville, Va., Florence Hendricks, Vivian, and Sibby Anne Turner, Collinsville.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Short Gap, on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William Kope and the Rev. John Glessner officiating.
There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Donald Sisk, Paul Snyder, Clyde Norris, James Elva, Dale Smith and Charles Gill.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
MELVIN "MEL" WILLIAMS
PROCTORVILLE, Ohio - Melvin "Mel" Williams, 66, of Proctorville, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, in St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, W.Va.
He was born June 15, 1932, in East St. Louis, Ill., the son of the late Fred and Lena Lutz Williams.
He was a retired General Plant Manager for CSX, Huntington Shops.
He is survived by his wife, Doris J. Hubbard Williams, Proctorville; three sons and daughter-in-law, Melvin Williams Jr. and Cheryl, Cumberland, Gary Williams, New York City, N.Y., and David Williams, Proctorville; one brother and sister-in-law James R. and Verna Williams, Oceanside, Calif.; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ron Rosson, Florrissant, Mo.; and one granddaughter, Megan Williams, Cumberland.
The Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Chesapeake, Ohio, with Father James Bryant officiating.
Friends may call on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Schneider-Slack Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
GRACE L. WILMOTH
KEYSER, W.Va. - Grace L. Wilmoth, 88, a resident of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, formerly of 98 James St., Keyser, died at the nursing home on Friday, Nov. 20, 1998.
Born on Jan. 11, 1910, in Elkins, she was the daughter of the late Jethro and Ella (Price) Canfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Wilmoth, on Jan. 18, 1986; and a son, Richard L. Wilmoth Sr.
Mrs. Wilmoth was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Keyser, the Harry Reese Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, Gracious Ladies, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Surviving are two grandsons, Richard L. Wilmoth Jr. and Thomas Wilmoth; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Wilmoth, Roanoke, Va.; and a niece, Delores I. Shumaker, Keyser. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren; and her great-nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Barbara S. Starling officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, 30 South Mineral St., Keyser, W.Va.
EARL B. WILSON
KEYSER, W.Va. - Earl Boyd Wilson, 84, formerly of Keyser, died Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland, Md.
Born March 13, 1913, at Rio, W.Va., he was a son of the late Robert Bell and R. Gertrude (Crites) Wilson. He also was preceded in death by one stepson, Kenneth B. Siever.
Mr. Wilson was a retired employee of the B&O; Railroad and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of The Baptist Church, Rio; Nancy Hanks Post 3518 VFW, Keyser; and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Evans) Wilson, a resident of the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland; one brother, Emory Wilson, Winchester, Va.; three sisters, Virginia Evans, Moorefield, W.Va., Naomi Hoover and Mary Webber, both of Winchester; and 19 nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday from noon to 2 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel Biser officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
