CARL SHANHOLTZ
MOUNT STORM, W.Va. - Carl William "Buck" Shanholtz, 77, passed away Thursday, April 16, 1998, in the Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 4, 1920, in Nethken, W.Va., he was a son of the late Carl William and Cora (Jones) Shanholtz.
Mr. Shanholtz was a retired coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances (Figg) Shanholtz; one daughter, Cora Lou Hanlin and husband, David, Mount Storm; two sisters, Mary Stillwell, Indianapolis, Ind., and Ardith A. Sell, Mount Home, Idaho; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating.
CHRISTOPHER LEE "BUCKSHOT" SHANHOLTZ
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Christopher Lee "Buckshot" Shanholtz, 50, of Route 2, Ridgeley, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born March 14, 1948, in Hampshire County, he was the son of the late Oma Shanholtz and Ruth (Kline) Shanholtz. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Shanholtz.
Mr. Shanholtz was a heavy equipment operator for the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was a member of the Fort Ashby VFW.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline S. (Border) Shanholtz, Ridgeley; three sisters, Gladys Crouse, and husband, Melvin, Winchester, Va., Dottie Hielman, and husband, Paul, Land of Lakes, Fla., and Linda Cunningham, and husband, Roger, Lascassas, Tenn.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Eisenhour officiating.
EDNA LEE SHANHOLTZ
GREEN SPRING, W.Va. - Edna Lee Shanholtz, 101, of Green Spring, died Monday, June 8, 1998, at the Long Term Care Center, Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
She was born July 15, 1896, in Fort Ashby, a daughter of the late Edward B. and Betty (Starnes) Wagoner. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Wilbur J. Shanholtz; two sons, Raymond and Earl Shanholtz; three brothers; and three sisters.
She was a member of Forest Glen United Methodist Church, Green Spring.
Surviving are three sons, Paul Shanholtz, Springfield, William Shanholtz, Oldtown, Md., Eugene Shanholtz, Green Spring; four daughters, Irene Deurr, Green Spring, Martha Merritt, Ridgeley, Isabelle Fields, Green Spring, Evelyn Wines, Green Spring; 27 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, June 11, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Deborah Shreve officiating.
LYLE A. SHANHOLTZ
AUGUSTA, W.Va. - Lyle Arnold Shanholtz, 76, of Augusta, died Sunday Nov. 29, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg.
He was born Oct. 22, 1922, at Augusta, a son of the late Virgil E. and Ada Flo (Haines) Shanholtz. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Shanholtz attended the Christ Community Church, Augusta. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a life member of the VFW Wappocoma Post #1101 and the American Legion Hampshire Post #91, both of Romney.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel R. (Everett) Shanholtz, Augusta; two daughters, Cornelia S. Brewer and husband, Frank, Weaverville, N.C., Vicki Shanholtz, at home; one grandson, Chad E. Brewer, Dillon, Col.; one granddaughter, Tammny M. Mason and husband, Stanley, Weaverville; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Mason, Weaverville; three brothers, William Shanholtz, Bayonet, Fla., Gay Shanholtz and Larry Shanholtz, both of Capon Bridge; and one sister, Adine Wolford, Augusta.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney.
Services will be conducted at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. with Evangelist Daniel K. Stiltner officiating.
Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Veterans' Organizations of Hampshire County.

RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Friends will be received for Dessel Virginia Shanholtzer at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m.

CLARICE G. SHANK
BURLINGTON, W.Va. - Clarice G. Shank, 95, of Patterson Creek Road, Burlington, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on March 22, 1903, at Keyser, she was a daughter of the late Aaron George and Lillian (McNemar) George Hood. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George Baker Shank, on Oct. 6, 1956; two sons, Robert D. Shank and William Eugene Shank; two sisters, Marguerite Shumaker and Thelma Stallings; and one brother, Paul B. Hood.
Mrs. Shank graduated from Potomac State Preparatory School and taught in Mineral County including one-room school service. She taught by the example of her life, the joy of living every day to the fullest through giving her wisdom, vitality and love to generations of family, friends and community. She was a member of the Burlington Union Church and the Burlington United Methodist Women.
Surviving are one daughter, Nancy Wilder and husband Jerry, Mineral, Va.; one daughter-in-law, Randy Shank, Keyser; one sister, Wilma Wells, Lantana, Fla.; four grandchildren, Bill Shank, Bob Shank, Bill Wilder and Roger Wilder; and five great-grandchildren, Kelly, Alyssa, Robert, Ryan and A.J.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Burlington Union Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Angela Cosner officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services.

ILENE V. SHANK
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Ilene Virginia Shank, age 74, of Elk Garden, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born March 1, 1924, in Gormania, she was a daughter of the late Tully and Lessie (Barb) Duling.
Mrs. Shank was Methodist by faith. She taught school in the Elk Garden school system for 43 years. She was a member of the Mount Storm V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and Lillian Rebekah Lodge #58.
She is survived by her husband, William Shank; one sister, Beulah Alderton, Elk Garden.
