JAMES M. MCATEER
PAW PAW, W.Va. - James Matthew McAteer, 75, of Paw Paw, died Friday, July 24, 1998, in Berkeley Springs War Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 25, 1923, in Frostburg, Md., the son of the late Owen C. and Margaret (Greene) McAteer.
Mr. McAteer was retired as a carpenter. He was a member of the Oldtown V.F.W. and the Paw Paw American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a son, Yaqub Hussain McAteer, Edgewood, Md.; a daughter, Kathy Macalusa, Tabernacle, N.J.; three sisters, Margaret A. Crump, Oldtown, Alice Koepke, Milwaukee, Wisc., and Winifred V. Kilian, Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Owen McAteer, Oldtown, Md.; and four grandsons.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, Md., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church, Frostburg, with the Rev. Fr. William Moody as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Michael Catholic Church cemetery, Frostburg. Military honors will be accorded by the Frostburg Farrady Post #24, American Legion.
JOSEPHINE IRENE MCBRIDE
LEVELS, W.Va. - Josephine Irene McBride, 76, of Levels, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at her residence.
She was born March 27, 1922, in Pendleton County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Jesse Howard and Tina Opal (Delaney) Judy. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Lynn McBride, on Feb. 6, 1978; two brothers, Kermit C. Judy and Robert Lee Judy.
She was a homemaker, a loving mother, and a thoughtful neighbor to all she met.
Surviving are three sons, Roscoe F. McBride, and wife, Kay, Winchester, Va., W. Steve McBride, and wife, Janice, Berryville, Va., and Paul D. McBride, Romney; three daughters, Patsy E. Dorsey, and husband, Carl, Roanoke, Ind., Shirley Alt, and husband, Forest, Forest, Va., and Robin Mirande, and husband, Robert, Bloomsburg, Pa.; seven brothers, Glise W. Judy, Wampum, Pa., Donald J. Judy, Jerry A. Judy, Leon R. Judy, and Richard D. Judy, all of Romney, Melvin F. Judy, Colonial Heights, Va., Calvin M. Judy, Stephens City, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Jean Miller, Ohio, Mrs. Shirley E. Hott, and Mrs. Twila M. Lee, both of Romney; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney.
The funeral service will be at the Shaffer Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 23, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Douglas Wright officiating.

VIRGIL M. MCBRIDE
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Virgil Meriam McBride, 96, of Romney, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at the Long Term Care Unit of Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
Born Nov. 18, 1901, at Higginsville, he was the son of the late Chloe Catherine McBride. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Irene (Moreland) McBride, on Aug. 21, 1974.
Mr. McBride was an orchardist for local orchards.
Surviving are two sons, Dwight McBride, Fredericksburg, Va., and Arlo McBride, Romney; two daughters, Lorene Racey and Evelyn Riley, both of Romney; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at the Wesley Chapel cemetery, Points, on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. with Don Kesner officiating.
JOHN J. MCCOOLE
DUMFRIES, Va. - John Joe McCoole, 64, of Dumfries, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at the Fairfax Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion McCoole.
Surviving are a daughter, Pamela McCoole, Dumfries; two nephews, Michael McCoole and Robert McCoole, both of Cumberland, Md.; and a sister-in-law, Graceana McCoole, Ridgeley, W.Va.
Memorial services will be conducted at the Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City, on Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
LENA B. McCORMICK
PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Lena B. McCormick, 77, of Painesville, died on Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
She was born July 15, 1920, in Barnum, W.Va., and had lived in Maryland before moving to Painesville 32 years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Henry, on Oct. 5, 1988; and her granddaughter, Tanice Stalworth.
Mrs. McCormick was a former housekeeping employee at the Holiday Inn of Painesville.
Surviving are her sons, George W., Painesville, Kenneth E. and wife, Charlotte, of Andover, Paul E. and wife, Pam, of Leroy, and William W. and wife, Linda, of Geneva; daughters, Naomi Gmitra and husband, Kol, Painesville, Sondra Lynn Lawrence, Painesville, Cathy I. Shank and husband, Frank, Concord Township, and Lena L. Morgan and husband, Chris, Ashtabula; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eloise Tichnell, Swanton, Md., and Evelyn Frank, Painesville; and brothers, William Harvey, North Carolina.
The Johnson Funeral Home, Painesville, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Mrs. McCormick will be buried with her husband, George, in Mentor, Ohio.
GEORGEANNA "SIS" BERNICE McDONALD
BURLINGTON, W.Va. - Georgeanna "Sis" Bernice McDonald, 83, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Jan. 4, 1915, in Hampshire County, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Ernest R. and Catherine E. (Everett) Parker. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. McDonald, on Sept. 1, 1977; and infant daughter, Shirley Bernice McDonald.
She was employed by G.L. Martins, Baltimore, for 10 years and later as a cook at the Burlington United Methodist Family Services for 16 years.
She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Junction, W.Va.
Survivors include one sister, Michael Angelo "Faye" Comas, Romney; one chosen sister, Mrs. Dot Whiteman, Junction; one faithful niece, Alice Metz, Baltimore; one faithful nephew, Floyd E. Wiltrout, Decatur, Ill.; several other nieces and nephews; and many chosen children.
The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, with the Rev. Andy C. Agnew officiating.
ROMA MAE MCDONALD
GREEN SPRING, W.Va. - Roma Mae McDonald, 74, of Green Spring, died Oct. 1, 1998, at the Hospice Unit, Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
She was born March 17, 1924, in Greenspring, and was a daughter of the late William Dallas and Fannie Mae (Nelson) Foley. She was preceded in death by her husband Isaac Creed McDonald, on April 4, 1995; and by three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. McDonald retired from the Hampshire County Board of Education where she was employed as a custodian at the Springfield Green Spring Elementary School, Springfield.
She was a member of the Green Spring United Methodist Church, Green Spring.
Surviving are one sister, Ruth Coffman, Short Gap; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, with the Rev. Deborah Shreve officiating.
