CHARLES R. SINE
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Charles Ray Sine, 80, of Romney, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
He was born on Oct. 7, 1918, in Romney, the son of the late Boyd G. and Amy D. (Reynolds) Sine. He was preceded in death by one son, Alan Sine.

Mr. Sine graduated from Romney High School in 1937 and attended Potomac State College. He taught for the Signal Corps at Temple University in 1942, worked for Columbia Gas for 16 years, and worked as an Engineer for PPG Industries and retired in 1981.

He was Past Master of Lodge #408 Meadville, Pa., Past Commander of Northwestern Commandery #25, Meadville, Past High Priest of Solomon Royal Arch Chapter #191, Meadville. He was a ham radio operator for over 60 years. He was an active member of Boy Scouts of America for 23 years.

Surviving are his wife, Loleta B. (Hockman) Sine, Romney; one daughter, Alana Mauzy and husband, Larry, Ijamsville, Md.; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Sine, Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Fleet Sine, Union; three grandchildren, Bret Mauzy and wife, Pam, Tracye Sine and husband Andreas, and Jennifer Sine.

At Mr. Sine's request his body was donated for scientific research to the Human Gift Registry, Department of Anatomy, West Virginia University.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may take the form of donations to: Shriners Children's Hospitals, Ali Ghan Temple, P.O. Box 1416, Cumberland, MD 21502; the American Cancer Society; or to the Romney Lions Club - Sight Fund, James Evans, Route 1, Box 57, Burlington, WV 26710.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney.

EARL N. SIONS
OLD FIELDS, W.Va. - Earl N. Sions, 71, of Old Fields, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 23, 1999 at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Born May 26, 1928 in Cumberland, Md., he was a son of the late Wilbur and Katherine "Kate" (Cunningham) Sions.

He was a member of the Moorefield Lodge 29 AF & AM, a member and director of the Shenandoah Valley Steam and Gas Engine Assoc., of Berryville, Va., a Charter member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, McNeil Rangers Camp 582.

He was a farmer, a sawmill operator and a construction worker.

Surviving are his wife, Helen (Miller) Sions; one daughter, Teresa Sions and husband Tom Reel, of Manassas, Va.; one grandson, Kevin Preston, his wife Carmen and children, Jonathan and Carissa, of Barton, Md.; one foster son, Kevin Whetzel, his wife Mindi and children, Ashley and Tyler Earl, of Old Fields.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield with the Rev. Ken Owens officiating. Burial will follow at the Olivet cemetery, where Masonic Graveside Rites will be accorded by the Moorefield Lodge 29 AF & AM. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the Building Fund, Moorefield Lodge 29 AF & AM, Fraley Ambulance Service or the American Lung Assoc.

ROGER KEITH SISLER
HORSESHOE RUN, W.Va. - Roger Keith Sisler, 53, of Horseshoe Run, died Monday, June 7, 1999, in Table Rock, Md., as a result of a mining accident.
He was born Dec. 3, 1945, in Cumberland, Md., a son of the late Chauncy C. and Margaret Ruth McCune Sisler.

He was a member of the Laurel Run Church of God, had graduated from Rowlesburg High School in 1965, was an owner/operator for 12 years hauling for Interstate Lumber Company, and had worked for Mettiki Coal for 20 years, most recently working as a longwall operator.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy Glotfelty Sisler; two sons and spouses, Roger Roderic and Carol Sisler, and Randy Zane and Kristy Sisler, all of Mount Storm; three brothers, Grover Friend, Yardley, Pa., Allan Sisler, Bartow, and Timothy Sisler, Friendsville, Md.; a sister, Joyce Hooton, Kingwood; four grandchildren, Sean, Kaylee, Jaclyn and Taylorann Sisler; and a step-granddaughter, Ashley VanSickle.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell C. Sisler.

Friends may call at the Browning Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, Chestnut Street, Rowlesburg, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, and 10 to 11 a.m., the funeral hour, on Saturday, June 12, 1999, with the Rev. Sam Moon officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Rose cemetery, Friendsville.

HENRY L. SITES
DORCAS, W.Va. - Henry Luther Sites, 78, of Dorcas, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born May 17, 1921, in Rough Run, he was the son of the late Strite and Rosie (Borror) Sites. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank "Bud" Sites and Lloyd Sites; eight sisters, Rettie Sites, Bessie Jenkins, Hattie Ayers, Eura Sites, Mary Sites, Ruby Getz, Maggie Whetzel and Lula Sites. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Sites was a farmer and timberman. He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Potomac Highlands VFW Post #6454.

Surviving are one son, Raymond L. Sites, Jessup, Md.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted there Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Dye officiating.

Burial will be in the Maple Hill cemetery, Petersburg. Military graveside service will be accorded by the Grant County Combined Veterans Organization.

JAMES D. "CHIEF" WASHINGTON SR.
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - James D. "Chief" Washington Sr., 61, of 51 Jones St., Piedmont, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Nov. 27, 1937, in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Oswald H. Washington and Lucille F. (Redman) Washington. He was also preceded in death by one brother; one sister; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Washington was self employed and was Methodist by faith.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Virgie A. Redman.

He is survived by five sons, Gregory Jessie and wife, Kay, Keyser, Gary Redman and wife, Susan, Virginia Beach, Va., David Redman and wife, Andrea, Baltimore, Md., Michael Redman and James Washington Jr., both of McCoole, Md.; eight daughters, Lynn Taylor and husband, Mark, Virginia Beach, Michelle Redman, Keyser, Lee Ann Jackson, Keyser, Donna Redman, Houston, Texas, Belinda Redman, Petersburg, Aletha Washington and Donnetha Washington, both of Detroit, Mich., and Selinna Bowman, Piedmont; 30 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by four brothers, Frederick Washington, Piedmont, Jeffrey Washington, Keyser, Louis Meade, Cumberland, and Lindsey Washington, Keyser; and three sisters, Carla Twyman and husband, Donnie, Piedmont, Vanessa Brooks and husband, Ricky, Keyser, and Bev Washington, Keyser.

Mr. Washington is also survived by his step-mother, Carolyn Washington, Keyser.

Friends may be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett and the Rev. Lester Clifford officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

MAX B. SITES
ONEGO, W.Va. - Max Blaire Sites, 67, of Onego, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

Born Oct. 12, 1932, in Teterton, he was the son of the late Ola M. and Mamie (Mallow) Sites. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, an infant brother and William Rex Sites.

Mr. Sites was a farmer, and he worked for Groves Oil Company in Petersburg and retired from Peoples Life Insurance Company. He and his wife, Shirley, were former owners of the Gateway Restaurant in Riverton. He was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Seneca United Methodist Church, and a charter member of North Fork Rescue Squad. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a life member of Rock Cavern VFW Post #6862, Seneca Rocks, and served as Quarter Master for 38 years.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Lambert) Sites, whom he married on Aug. 27, 1957; two daughters, Anita Faith Nelson and Karen Tammie Kile, both of Onego; four sons, Mitch Sites, Kitridge Sites, Stacy Gene Sites, and Shannon Sites, all of Onego; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Hilda Sponaugle, Bowden.

Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Inc., 11 North Main St., Petersburg, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Seneca United Methodist Church on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Marvin Frankhouser, the Rev. Daniel Huddleston, the Rev. Earl Bible, and Pastor Calvin Redman officiating.

Burial will be in the Sites Family cemetery, Onego. A military graveside service will be held by the Rock Cavern VFW Post #6862 of Seneca Rocks, and Grant County Combined Veterans Organizations.

Memorials may be directed to the Rosenbaum Family House, c/o Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV 26505, or to a charity of choice.
