VIRGINIA B. SNELL
DORCAS, W.Va. - Virginia B. Wilkerson Snell, age 61, of Dorcas, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at the Pendleton County Nursing Home, Franklin, where she had resided since March 25, 1999.
Born Aug. 29, 1937, in Swormville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Belle E. Butler Wilkerson, Williamsville, N.Y., and the late Floyd M. Wilkerson.
Mrs. Snell and her husband made their home in Alden, N.Y., from 1964 until they moved back to Grant County in 1982. She was an avid artist and a member of the International Artists Association.
She was a member of Cowlesville Baptist Church, Cowlesville, N.Y., and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Amherst Chapter #555, Williamstown, N.Y., and the Rebekah #327 I.O.O.F., Cowlesville, N.Y.
She was a leader for Cub and Girl Scouts of America and member of the Grant County Arts Council.
Surviving in addition to her mother, are her husband, Ralph Edmund Snell, whom she married
on Sept. 27, 1958; two sons, Timothy Edmund Snell and wife, Ruth, Beavercreek, Ohio; Daniel Floyd Snell and wife, Teresa, Rig; one daughter, Victoria Snell Kautz, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and husband Karl; three grandchildren, Analise and Hayden Kautz and Rachael Snell; two sisters, Gail Covel, Lockport, N.Y., Judy Heal, Clarence Center, N.Y.; two brothers, Ronald Wilkerson, Sherman Oaks, Calif., Gary Wilkerson, Batavia, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held at Petersburg Presbyterian Church, Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donald G. Scofield Jr. officiating.
Following the memorial services, the family will receive friends in the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
Graveside services and burial will be held at a later date in the Snell Family cemetery, Petersburg.

JOHN H. STEWART
BRANCHLAND, W.Va. - John H. Stewart, 70, of Branchland, died Sunday, March 14, 1999, at the V.A. Medical Center, Huntington.
He was born March 24, 1928, in Cumberland, Md., to the late Edna Mae and Charles F. Stewart.
John was a member of the U.M.W.A., but worked as a truck driver most of his life with the Teamsters Union. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II, and he was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Stewart, of Frostburg, Md.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Brunty Stewart; two daughters, Tammy Stewart and Lisa Dean and husband, Buddy Dean; one son, Brandon Stewart, all of Branchland; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles "Butch" and Diane Stewart, Cumberland; one step daughter, Carol McCoy, Hurricane, W.Va.; and three grandchildren, Aaron Dean, Ian Dean and Bradley McCoy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Red River Baptist Church, Branchland.
ROBERT D. SMITH
HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Robert Daniel Smith, 58, of 12 Meadow Link Estate, Huntsville, died March 28, 1999, at his home.
Born Feb. 22, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of the late Grace and Charlie Smith.
Mr. Smith was retired from the Army with 21 years of service and was a security guard at the Elis Unit Peniteniary in Huntsville.
Surviving are his ex-wife, Wanda Kisner of Deer Park, Md.; daughters, Shirley Minnick of Keyser, W.Va., and her daughter Rebecca Smith and son, Tony Crosco; Rebecca Smith, Arlington, Wash., and her sons, Steven Sines and Tracy Wammack and daughters, Danielle Wammack and Kimberlee Wammack; Peggy Bane and husband, Joseph Bane of Keyser, W.Va., and her daughter, Naomi Bane; a son, Robert Smith of Jessup, Md.
Mr. Smith also has two sisters and one brother surviving.
Funeral director, Larry Graves of Huntsville Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements which are not complete at this time.
PATRICIA M. RICHARDS
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Patricia Mae (Porter) Richards, 54, of Ridgeley, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Aug. 15, 1944, in Somerset County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jack and Freeda (Crow) Melvin. She also was preceded in death by one brother, James Melvin.
Mrs. Richards was a former employee of Tri-State Salvage Co. She attended Calvary Bible Baptist Church and was a member of Cumberland Eagles Aerie 245 Auxiliary.
Surviving are one son, Matthew J. Richards, Ridgeley; one brother, Brant Crow and wife Betty, Holly Ridge, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ken Korns officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
TUDIE M. SMITH
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Tudie M. Smith, 96, of Spring Ave., Moorefield, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at the Hampshire Health Care Center in Romney.
Born March 1, 1903, in Hardy County, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Alice (Wolfe) Riggleman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Smith in April, 1990; one son; three sisters; and four brothers.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, Moorefield. She was a foster mother for many years for numerous children.
She is survived by two sons, Tom Smith, Haymarket, Va., and Wayne Smith, Tucson, Ariz.; four daughters, Mary Forbeck, Cumberland, Md., Nellie Zirk, Moorefield, Ruby Kerns, Cumberland, and Louise Johnson, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; one brother, Brown Riggleman, Berkeley Springs; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Ours officiating. Burial will follow at the Olivet cemetery .

PAULINE M. RIDDER
KEYSER, W.Va. - Pauline M. Ridder, 79, formerly of Keyser, died Jan. 4, 1999, at Oakland Manor Nursing Home, Sykesville, from an extended illness.
Born in Kitzmiller, Md., she was the daughter of the late Robert John and Minnie Beals McKean. She was the wife of the late Paul Fredlock Ridder.
She attended Kitzmiller High School and graduated from Shepherdstown State Teachers College. She was a retired elementary school teacher in Mineral County, having taught for over 20 years.
She was a member of the Kitzmiller United Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughter Nancy Dudash and son-in-law, Dale, Sykesville; sister, Jean Sollars, Kitzmiller; brother, Robert McKean, Phoenix, Ore.; and grandchildren, Lindsay and Andrew Dudash. She was predeceased by sister Mildred Norman.
As per her request, the body was cremated. Interment of ashes in the Nethkin Hill cemetery, Elk Garden, and memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mineral County Hospice.
