JAMES R. MYERS
FLORAL CITY, Fla. - James R. Myers, 75, of Floral City, died Jan. 9, 1999, in the Life Care Center at Lecanto.
Born in Aurora, W.Va., on March 6, 1923, to the late Harold and Margaret Becker Myers, he came to Florida 15 years ago from Ridgeley, W.Va.
He was a retired lathe operator, a World War II Army Veteran, and a member of the Floral City United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Homer S. Myers and Harold J. Myers, both from Aurora; sister, Jessie Fedorow, Aurora; 14 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah, in 1986; and his second wife, Pauline, in 1998; his infant son; his brother, Otis, in 1979; and two sisters, Mary McMillen, in 1994, and Nellie McGrath, in 1995.
In this world, James R. Myers was a special person. There are not many who are truly special. They go around caring for others before themselves. They have a smile on their face and love in their heart ... they ask for nothing in return. We saw all of this and more in Jim.
Memorial services for Jim will be held at the Aurora United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 10, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Robinette officiating.
Jim will be interred at the Texas cemetery at Horse Shoe Run, W.Va., with his first wife and his son.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mr. Myers' memory are being accepted by Hospice, 3350 W. Audubon Park Path, Lecanto, FL 34461.
MARGARET L. MYERS
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Margaret Lee Myers, 71, of Clay Street, Moorefield, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at the Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
Born May 27, 1927, in Moorefield, she was the daughter of the late Cora (Ratliff) Barb and Ashby Barb. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Earl Myers, in 1983; one son; and four brothers.
Mrs. Myers was a homemaker and a member of the Moorefield Church of the Brethren and Moorefield VFW Women's Auxiliary.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda Lee Keplinger, Petersburg; four sisters, Eunice Hall, Petersburg, Helen Jenkins, Seattle, Wash., Loretta Mongold and Faye Kesner, both of Moorefield; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Elmore-Chambers Funeral Home, Moorefield, Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Laurean R. Smith officiating.
GORDON H. MOORE
WINCHESTER, Va. - Gordon H. Moore, 59, of Route 2 Box 139, Keyser, W.Va., died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1999 at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester.
Mr. Moore was born July 9, 1940, in DayBrook, W.Va. He was the son of the late Arlie Moore and Julia (Mullin) Moore. He was raised by the late Raymond and Elsie (Haines) Mullin.
He was married
to Betty (Leatherman) Moore, of Keyser, W.Va., for 36 years.
He leaves to cherish his memory with his wife; a son, Donald L. Moore Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Moore; a sister-in-law, Patricia Moore; one brother, Orrin Moore, and a grandson, Donald L. Moore Jr., all of Keyser, W.Va.
One brother, Douglas Moore, preceded him in death.
The family will have a private memorial service.
Ministry of comfort was entrusted to the Cartwright Funeral Home, Winchester.
MARGARET E. MOOMAW
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Margaret Estelle (Savage) Moomaw, 83, of Ridgeley, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at the Rest Assured Living Center, Meyersdale, Pa.
Born Sept. 7, 1916, in Lonaconing, Md., she was the daughter of the late Playford Rosswell and Mary C. (Atkinson) Savage. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Otis W. Moomaw; one son, Robert Keith Moomaw; one brother, Russell Savage; and one sister, Eleanor Nies.
Mrs. Moomaw was a World War II veteran, having served in the Women's Army Auxiliary. She was a member of Graceland Baptist Church; the Women's Society of Christian Service; choir member, Sunday School teacher, and organist throughout her life. She worked many years at the Celanese plant.
Surviving are one son, Ronald Earl Moomaw and wife Judy, Ridgeley; one daughter, Mary Margaret "Peggy" Mozelle and husband Bruce, Manassas, Va.; two brothers, William C. Savage, Cumberland, and Scott Savage, Colorado; two sisters, Marie Riley and Stella Devlin, both of Lonaconing; five grandchildren, Mike Moomaw and wife Tonya, Wayne Moomaw and wife Paula, Paul Christopher Fortner and wife Didi, Michael Mozelle and Rebecca Ann Moomaw; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted there on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Hattenfield officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the local combined veterans honor guard.

THOMAS J. NILAND
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Thomas J. Niland, 72, of Piedmont, died Thursday, April 8, 1999, in the Hospice Unit at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born March 27, 1927, in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Ignatius Niland and Blanche (Ahern) Niland. He also was preceded in death by two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Inez (Diaz) Niland, Piedmont; three sons, Tommy Niland and wife Connie, and Donnie Niland and wife Isabell, Westernport, Md., and Eric Niland and wife Marla, Ellerslie, Md.; one brother, Jack Niland, Ladie Lake, Fla.; three grandchildren, Monica, Katie and Kyle; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he was awarded a Victory Medal and was a member of the Military Police Detachment.
He retired as a carman with the B&O; Railroad with more than 42 years of service; and was a member of the Piedmont Legion Post 5957 and the McCoole VFW Post 6775.
Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Father Jim Hannon as celebrant .
Interment will be in the St. Peter's cemetery. Mr. Niland's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
ALMA R. MONGOLD
SOUTH FORK, W.Va. - Alma Rebecca Mongold, 85, of South Fork, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at the E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center.
Born on March 22, 1914, in Milam, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Daniel Edward "Tucker" and Mahela F. (Smith) Hinkle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lester Mongold, on March 25, 1995; five sisters; two brothers; and one grandchild. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Mongold was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Carmel Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by two daughters, Mallie Combs, Moorefield, and Janet Nelson, Bloomington; two sons, Vernon D. "Hoss" Mongold and Earl C. Mongold, both of South Fork; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call anytime after 3 p.m. Thursday at the Elmore-Chambers Funeral Home, Moorefield. The family will receive friends there from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Elmore-Chambers Funeral Home, with the Pastor Dennis Brown officiating.
