HAROLD L. MILLER
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Harold L. Miller, 80, of Romney, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at his residence.

Born Jan. 27, 1919, in Romney, he was the son of the late Albert Dillon and Bertha E. (Barnes) Miller. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul E. Miller, George A. Miller, and Albert Welton Miller.

Mr. Miller was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are one sister-in-law, Hannah Miller, Laurel, Md.; one nephew, Paul William Miller, LaVale, Md.; one niece, Teri Fox, Severn, Md.; and four great-nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James L. McMahan officiating.

Interment will be in the Ebenezer cemetery, Romney.

Military graveside rites will be accorded by the veterans' organizations of Hampshire County.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney.

JAMES B. MILLER JR.
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - James Barthol Miller Jr., 83, of Ridgeley, formerly of Frostburg, Md., died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.

Born July 30, 1916, in Borden Mines, he was the son of the late James B. and Matilda (Gordon) Miller Sr. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Christian Miller.

Mr. Miller retired in 1980 as an electrician from Bethlehem Steel Co., Sparrows Point. He was a Methodist by faith, and attended St. John's Episcopal Church, Frostburg, with his wife. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 348, Frostburg.

Surviving are his wife and best friend of 57 years, Mildred "Middie" (Wellings) Miller, formerly of Consol; one daughter, Sandra L. Martin and husband Lee, one granddaughter, Sherrie L. King and husband Bill, one grandson, Christopher L. Martin, and two great-grandchildren, Melissa King and Brittany King, all of Hampton, Va.; one sister, Viola "Toddy" Bucklew, Frostburg; one nephew, Jack Bucklew, Ephrata, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews through marriage who called him Uncle Barthol.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Lee Martin, Christopher Martin, Jack Bucklew, William King, Jerry Wellings and Marshall Neilson.

MAXINE D. MILLER
WARDENSVILLE, W.Va. - Maxine Doyle Miller, 79, of 145 Back St., Apt. 104, Wardensville, died on Monday, July 26, 1999, at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

Mrs. Miller was born on June 25, 1920, in Gore, Va., a daughter of the late Clarence O. and Virginia Loy Doyle.

She was a member of the Wardensville United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Wardensville High School and was a member of the VFW Post No. 2102 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was married to Lt. James D. Miller, who was killed in action in World War II.

Surviving are one sister, Sue Coffman, Wardensville; one brother, Loy O. Doyle, Seabrook, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 29, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Wardensville cemetery in Wardensville. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Anderson.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville anytime after 9 a.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Wardensville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 2, Wardensville, WV 26851, or to the Wardensville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 207, Wardensville, WV 26851.

Arrangements are by the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home, Wardensville, W.Va.

EVELYN W. NORTHCRAFT
PAW PAW, W.Va. - Evelyn W. Northcraft, 75, of Route 1, Box 159, Paw Paw, died Tuesday at her residence.

The family will receive friends at the Giffin Funeral Home, Capon Bridge, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Slanesville Presbyterian Church, Slanesville, Saturday at 11 a.m. with Parish Associate Ronald L. Wilkes and the Rev. Robin Reese officiating.

Interment will be in the Mount Union cemetery, Slanesville.

ERNEST MINNICK
MOUNT STORM, W.Va. - Ernest "Boots" Minnick, 73, of Mount Storm, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, in the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit, Cumberland, Md.

Born Aug. 11, 1925, at Gormania, W.Va., he was a son of the late Charles Hobart and Kathryn (Verley) Minnick. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Minnick Jr., Raymond Minnick and Norman Minnick; and one sister, Pauline Knotts.

Mr. Minnick formerly was employed with the Western Maryland Railroad as a mechanic, and in bridge and building for 15 years. After his employment with the railroad, he and his wife owned and operated Minnick's Grocery and Amoco Service in Mount Storm until his retirement in 1987.

Mr. Minnick also was a co-founding member of the Mount Storm Volunteer Fire Department, and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the era of the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Eileen (Hanlin) Minnick; one son, Randall Minnick and wife Kathy, Mount Storm; one daughter, Kathy Pacella and husband Paul, Mount Storm; three brothers, George Minnick, Adrian, Mich., Glen Minnick, Warrenton, Va., and John Minnick, Alexandria, Va.; four sisters, Wilma Grove, Westernport, Md., Donna Beckman, Brunswick, Ohio, Christina Patrick, O'Fallon, Ill., and Joyce Summar, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and five grandchildren, Meredith, Travis and Ashley Minnick, Corey VanMeter and Jordan Pacella, and two foster grandchildren, Belinda and Michael George, all of Mount Storm, W.Va.

Friends may call at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Anderson officiating.

Interment will be in the Mount Storm cemetery.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Mount Storm Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Eugene Moreland, P.O. Box 46, Mount Storm, WV 26739.

MELVIN T. MOORE SR.
SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Melvin T. Moore Sr., 69, of Short Gap, formerly of Fort Howard, Md., died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.

Born April 8, 1930, in Piedmont, he was the son of the late John and Augusta (Cosner) Moore. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville Moore, William Moore and Lloyd Davis.

Mr. Moore was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Sparrows Point, Md., and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Cumberland, and a former member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, Jones Creek, Md.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy (May) Mathieu Moore; three daughters, Judith M. Inman, Mooresville, N.C., Sharon K. Gay and husband, Mel, Dundalk, Md., Cynthia C. Moore Geldmacher, Baltimore, Md.; two sons, Melvin T. Moore Jr., Baltimore, David K. Moore and wife, Beth, Fort Howard; one step-daughter, Wendy D. Remillard and husband, Edward, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; three step-sons, Richard M. Mathieu and wife, Laura, Allegan, Mich., Ronald K. Mathieu and wife, Deb, Wrightsville, Pa., Robert M. Mathieu and wife, Tonya, Sparks, Nev.; five sisters, Dolly Hester and husband, Charles, Baltimore, Ann Broadwater, Westernport, Md., Norma Kernes and husband, Warren, Paw Paw, Nettie Woolfrey, Baltimore, Retha Dadds and husband, Russell, Baltimore; two brothers, Raymond Moore and wife, Donna, Fort Ashby, Virgil Moore and wife, Audrey, Keyser; his mother-in-law, Ruth F. May, Baltimore; eight grandchildren, Alisha and Bill Gay, Jason Moore, Shane and Christopher Moore, Sara Geldmacher, David and Jonathan Moore; seven step-grandchildren, Ricky and Timmy Mathieu, Travis Miller, Hanna Mathieu, Rian and Kayla Mathieu, and Amanda Remillard.

Friends will be received at the Bethel Assembly of God Church, 7360 Waldman Ave., Baltimore, MD 21219, on Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Caris officiating.

Friends will be received at the First Assembly of God Church, Elder Street, Cumberland, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ervin W. Mason officiating.

Interment will be in Mineral Baptist cemetery, Keyser.

The family requests that contributions be made to the American Leukemia Society.

Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, is in charge of arrangements.

Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
