CAROLINE B. HOEGG
WOODLANDS, Texas - Caroline Bosley Hoegg, of The Woodlands, died Oct. 7, 1999, in The Woodlands.
Born Dec. 18, 1924, in Lundale, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas R. and Bess Dale Bosley. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas R. Bosley, Jr., and son, Ralph.
Mrs. Hoegg was raised in New Creek, W.Va., and graduated from Keyser High School, in 1942, she later moved to Washington, D.C., and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, during which time she married
Roberto Hoegg, of Guatemala City where she later lived and raised her family. Later, she moved to Bryan, Texas, and operated Carol's Day Care Center, until retirement in 1993, when she moved to The Woodlands.
Surviving are her sons, Eric and wife, Ana, of The Woodlands, Roberto and Ricardo, of Baltimore, Bruce, of Reno, Nev., and Carlos and wife, Claudia, of Guatemala City; sister, Mary Margaret B. Nolan and husband, James, of Mt. Jackson, Va.; brothers, David, of Grifton, N.C.; John and wife, Peggy, of Kensington, James and wife Karen, of Cumberland; Rupert and wife, Karen, of Frostburg; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services and entombment were held, Oct. 10, 1999, at The Woodlands Funeral Home, in Conroe, Texas.
MARTIN LANDIS
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Martin Landis, 82, of Fort Ashby, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at the Martinsburg City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born May 7, 1917, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Dellie (Ayers) Landis. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Blanch A. Smith Landis who died June 2, 1999; five brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Landis was a furnace operator with Kaiser Aluminum in Baltimore, Md. He attended the Community Bible Assembly of God Church, Poland Road, Romney.
Surviving are three sisters, AlVerda Kelley and Nellie Helmick, both of Cumberland, Md., and Luella Robertson, Hedgesville.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Norman Landis officiating.
NAOMI E. IRWIN
BURLINGTON, N.C. - Naomi Eloise Skillington Irwin, 77, of 3740 Luther Court, Burlington, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at the Twin Lakes Center after an illness of several months.
Mrs. Irwin was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Edith S. Skillington. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Irwin.
Mrs. Irwin was a graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology, and was a music educator and active in music and arts in Cumberland, Md. and Pearisburg, Va. In Burlington, she directed the Twin Lakes Choir. She was a member of the Macedonia Lutheran Church, where she had served on the church council.
Survivors include two sons, Howard Charles Irwin and wife Rita, Ivor, Va., and Bruce William Irwin and wife Anne Linnes, Hildesheim, Germany; one brother, Charles Martin Skillington and wife Jeanne, Huntingdon, Pa.; special family, Fred and Betty Chen, Kingsport, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Macedonia Lutheran Church, Burlington, on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Raymond Petrea officiating.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Macedonia Lutheran Church, 421 West Front St., Burlington, NC 27215.

ALVERDA M. ``PAT" KITZMILLER
ELK GARDEN, W.Va. - Alverda M. ``Pat" Kitzmiller, age 79, of Elk Garden, died Thursday in the Dawn View Nursing Home, Fort Ashby.
Born Nov. 25, 1919, in Nethken, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Emma (Hickey) Thomas. Mrs. Kitzmiller worked for many years at Minnich's Florist in Keyser.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Denver King, and Blake Kitzmiller.
She is survived by one son, John King, Elk Garden; two daughters, Susie Matlick, Keyser, and Mary Bruckey, Elk Garden; one sister, Esther Myers, Kitzmiller; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The body is at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, where friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating.
LEO W. LANNON
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Leo W. Lannon, 79, of Moorefield, formerly of Piedmont, died Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born Jan. 8, 1920, in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Joseph L. Lannon and Mertie (Grove) Lannon Kyle. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Louise Lannon, in 1996.
Mr. Lannon retired in 1982 from Westvaco as a supervisor in machine coating with more than 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Victory Post 155 of Westernport, VFW Post 6775 of McCoole, and the Wild Turkey Federation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by three sons, Bill Lannon and wife Jeannie of Moorefield, Joe Lannon and wife Rachel of Piedmont, and Pat Lannon and wife Glenda of Keyser; one brother, Michael Lannon and wife Marie of Piedmont; one sister, Elizabeth Logsdon of Cumberland; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. S.D. Sawyers officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, with military honors accorded by various veterans organizations.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Eric, Leo, Michael, Tommy, Patrick and Cheyenne Lannon.
JAMES A. KESNER
AUGUSTA, W.Va. - James Andrew "Jimmy" Kesner, 54, of Augusta, formerly of Romney, died Saturday, October 2, 1999, at Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
Born Sept. 16, 1945, in Romney, he was the son of the late Elburn Hugh "Shorty" Kesner and Daisey Ellen (Wilson) Kesner, Romney. He also was preceded in death by one brother.
Mr. Kesner was employed as a truck driver for Dayton Transportation for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Army and Reserves and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2046 in Smyrna-Clayton, Del.
Surviving besides his mother, are his wife, Frances (Andrews) Kesner, Augusta; two sons, Jeff Kesner, Slanesville, and James "J.D." Kesner and wife Michelene "Missy", Virginia Beach, Va.; five daughters, Pam Wolford and husband Ronald, Levels, Lisa Cox and husband Scott, Romney, Christina Kesner, Romney, Kelly Kesner, Romney, and Bonnie Andrews, Front Royal, Va.; seven brothers, Curtis R. Kesner, Augusta, Elburn S. "Bo" Kesner, Wardensville, Van W. "Bobby" Kesner, Capon Bridge, Garland L. Kesner, Romney, Robert Eugene Kesner, Romney, Harry A. Kesner, Romney, and Melvin H. Kesner, Romney; six sisters, Lucy E. Whetzel, Romney, Myrtle V. "Peggy" Mayhew, Romney, Ruth C. Grapes, Romney, Alwinda M. "Billie" Corbin, Augusta, Dorothy P. Starnes, Augusta, and Juanita C. "Kay" Nickelson, Romney, and eight grandchildren.

MARY E. HOOD
PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Mary Ellen Hood, 96, of 115 E. Hampshire St., Piedmont, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born June 1, 1902, in Barnum, she was the daughter of the late O.A. Harrison and Ida (Frye) Harrison. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. "Wink" Hood, in 1968, whom she married
Aug. 24, 1925; four brothers, Tommy Harrison, Paul Harrison, Samuel Harrison and Woodrow Harrison; one sister, Naomi Simmons; a great-granddaughter, Barbie Lynn Tulley; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Hood; and son-in-law, Bernard Kady.
Mrs. Hood joined the Methodist Church, now Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, in 1932. She was a member of the Susannah Wesley Bible Class, United Methodist Women and the Koinonia Group of the church.
She was a life member of the Burlington Home Family Services; a 50-year member of Kelly-Mansfield Unit 52, American Legion Auxiliary, where she held the office of president as well as other offices; a 50-year member of Calanthe Temple No. 8, Pythian Sisters, Piedmont, where she was a former past chief, the Piedmont Senior Citizens; and was a former volunteer for the United Organizations for over 20 years. She was also a member of the former Loyal Order of Moose and Tri-Towns Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, both of Piedmont.
Surviving are three sons, William T. Hood and wife Marg, Piedmont, C. Edward Hood and wife Dorothy, Huntington, W.Va., and Robert S. Hood, Clearwater, Fla.; three daughters, Flora May Cook and husband Paul, Middletown, Md., Mary Lou Kady, Piedmont, and Nancy J. Moore and husband Charles, Keyser, W.Va.; two sisters, Mabel Crable, Lonaconing, Md., and Alice Lehman and husband Lloyd, Lakewood, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may take the form of donations to Trinity United Methodist Church, Tri-Towns Fire Company #1, both of Piedmont, or the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad, Westernport, Md.
