CARL W. JEWELL
SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Carl W. Jewell, 80, of Short Gap, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born on May 17, 1919, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Wade Hampton Toliver Jewell and Mary Ellen (Higgs) Jewell. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Jewell was employed for 30 years at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Knobley Mt. Post 136, American Legion, Ridgeley and Aerie 245, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cumberland.
Mr. Jewell was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Ridgeley.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Anna Catherine (Nelson) Jewell; three children, Charles "Sonny" Jewell and wife, Sandra, Rt. 2, Ridgeley, Ellen Dodrill and husband, Woody, Carpendale, and Freddie Barbe and wife, Pat, Wiley Ford; two sisters, Martha Duckworth, Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, and Mabel Evans, Oldtown; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Mary Coyle.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Edward R. Dickel, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Calvary United Methodist Church, 28 Knobley St., Ridgeley, W.Va., 26753.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Messenger, Eddie Whitacre, Robbie Grogg, Scott Dodrill, Mike Burke, and James Jewell.

PIEDMONT, W.Va. - Tori Elaine Ann Haines, 3 weeks, of Piedmont, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born June 18, 1999, in Morgantown, she was the daughter of Justin Edward Haines, Piedmont, and Tanya Lynn Kimble of Piedmont.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Shaun Christion Snider.
She is survived by one brother, William Patrick Mitchell Lupis, at home; maternal grandparents, Patsy Allamong, Keyser, and Leon Kimble, Piedmont; and paternal grandparents, Joe and Joyce Haines, Keyser.
Private graveside services will be held with the Rev. Lester Clifford officiating.
The Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, is in charge of arrangements.
DEBRA K. HEALY
KEYSER, W.Va. - Debra Kay Healy, 45, of Keyser, died on Tuesday, June 30, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born Oct. 3, 1953, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of Jane E. (Kimble) Kidwell and the late Wayne B. Kidwell. Mrs. Healy was a surrogate mother for the Potomac Center, Romney. She attended Potomac State College and Fairmont State College. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption, Keyser, and a member of the Limestone Homemakers and was a 4-H leader with the Limestone Vanguard.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Dr. Paul T. Healy; two sons, Nathan C. Stone, Washington, D.C., and Corbin J. Stone, Keyser; a stepson, Mat Healy, Keyser; one sister, Barbara J. Faris, Sterling, Va.; four brothers, James D. Kidwell and wife Jennifer, Joseph W. Kidwell and wife Kim, Walter B. Kidwell and wife Barbara, and Wayne B. Kidwell Jr., all of Romney.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, Keyser, on Saturday, July 3, 1999, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ivan M. Lebar, T.O.R., as celebrant.
Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

JOSEPH L. HEALY
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Joseph L. Healy, 71, of Gainesville, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at North Florida Regional Medical Center.
Born on Nov. 6, 1927, in Piedmont, W.Va., he was the son of the late Frank and Ellen (Laffey) Healy.
Mr. Healy was a graduate of St. Peters Catholic School, Westernport. He was a controller at St. Vincent's Medical Center in New York City for many years and a retired Administrator of the University of Florida Family Practice Medical Group, Gainesville, Fla. He was a U.S. World War II Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanne L. (Eisler) Healy, Gainesville, Fla.; his two sons, Patrick F. Healy, Melbourne, Fla., and Christopher J. Healy, Narcoossee, Fla.; his daughter, Janis M. Petric, Orlando, Fla.; his brother, Dr. Paul Healy, Keyser; his sister, Eileen Gillespie, Westernport; and five grandchildren.
Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.

HARRY E. HEAVNER
MAYSVILLE, W.Va. - Harry E. Heavner, 96, of Maysville, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va.
Born Oct. 8, 1903, in Cabins, W.Va., he was the son of the late Isaac and Susan (Riggleman) Heavner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jane (Mallow) Heavner, on Feb. 28, 1929; two great-grandchildren, Rachel VanMeter and Matthew Moyers; four sisters, Laura Heavner, Stella Heavner, Claudia Rohrbaugh and Floda Buckalew; five brothers, Walter Heavner, Burley Heavner, Branson Heavner, Andrew Heavner, and Jasper Heavner. Mr. Heavner was the last member of his immediate family.
Mr. Heavner was a sawyer and U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cabins Assembly of God Church. He had been a resident of Grant County Nursing Home since May 6, 1996.
Surviving are three sons, Larry J. Heavner, of Warrensburg, Missouri, Stephen W. Heavner, of Maysville, W.Va., and Dick A. Heavner, of Mt. Storm, W.Va.; two daughters, Esta VanMeter, of Maysville, W.Va., and Susan Rexrode, of Petersburg, W.Va.; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Lighthouse Community Church, Maysville, W.Va., on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph D. Eversole, officiating.
Military graveside service will be by the Veteran Organizations of Grant County.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Society.
CHARLES JOHNSON
KEYSER, W.Va. - Charles "Junior" Johnson, 77, of 414 Newton St., Keyser, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born on March 18, 1922, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Charles G. and Lillie A. (Shumaker) Johnson. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Hanzel and Hetzel Johnson; one sister, Velma Blacka; and one foster sister, Doris Davis.
Mr. Johnson was retired as a mechanic with Crown Cork and Seal in Winchester, Va., with 17 years service. He also was formerly employed with the Emerson-Pryne Company and the Celanese Amcelle Plant. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served with the Service Battery, 80th Field Artillery Battalion, Sixth Infantry Division in both the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations and the Philippines Liberation.
Mr. Johnson attended the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Assembly. He was a member of the I.B.E.W., Winchester, and was an honorary member of the Keyser Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, Betty J. (Blacka) Johnson; one son, David W. Johnson and wife Janell, Keyser; two daughters, Pam J. Junkins and husband Steve, Keyser, and Sheila J. Van Dyke and husband Jack, Poca; two brothers, Leonard Johnson and wife Betty, Keyser, and Dale Johnson and wife Wanda, Keyser; nine grandchildren, Carrie Johnson, David "D.J." Johnson II, Jennifer Smith, Matthew Smith, Aaron Smith, Dirk Junkins, Stephen Junkins, Brandi Van Dyke and Ashlee Van Dyke; and two great-grandchildren, Nicole and Kelsie Junkins.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. with Dr. Earl N. Williams officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
