WILLIAM F. DERRYBERRY
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - William Francis Derryberry, 54, of Ridgeley, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
Born Oct. 6, 1945, in Connellsville, Pa., he was the son of Frances Lornora (Rockwell) Derryberry and the late Cloyd William Derryberry.
Mr. Derryberry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a machinist for the CSX Railroad, a volunteer Hunters Safety Instructor, a member of the Highridge Hunting Club, National Rifle Association, and the Corner Club pool team. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife JoAnn (Andrews) Derryberry; two sons, Troy William Derryberry and wife Melissa, Berkeley Springs, and James Thomas Derryberry, Ridgeley; one brother, Calvin Derryberry; one sister, Mary Ann Derryberry Recher and husband Gary, Hagerstown, Md.; four grandchildren, Bryan, Jordan, Trenten, and Payton; and his best friend in the world, Fred Harshberger and wife Joanne Marie, Fort Ashby.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating.
At Mr. Derryberry's request, his body will be cremated.
DONALD C. GRAYSON
KEYSER, W.Va.-Donald C. Grayson Jr., 71, of 330 D St., Keyser, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Dec. 6, 1927, at Keyser, he was a son of V. Pearl (Whipp) Grayson, a resident of the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, and the late Donald C. Grayson Sr. He also was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Kelly Day.
Mr. Grayson was retired from Allegany Ballistics Laboratory with 32 years of service as a technical writer. After his retirement, he was employed as a sales agent with several real estate firms, most recently with the Campbell Company, Keyser. He also served as a substitute teacher in Mineral County for several years.
He was a member of the Fountain United Brethren in Christ Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He also was actively involved in different men's prayer groups. He was a 1945 graduate of Keyser High School. He also was a graduate of Potomac State College and West Virginia University. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Keyser Rotary Club and was an avid outdoorsman, golfer and deer hunter.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Helen (Mowbray) Grayson; three daughters, Valerie S. Lechliter and husband Delbert, Friedens, Pa., Dawna G. Day, Keyser, and Beth A. Grayson, Keyser, and currently serving as a missionary in Sudan; one son, Donald C. "Chet"Grayson III and wife Cora, Keyser; one sister, Joyce Maine and husband Terry and their daughter Kristin, Keyser; and three grandchildren, Michael J. Day, Daniel K. Day and Nathaniel Kelly Grayson.
Friends may call at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Fountain United Brethren in Christ Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Dean officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

RICHARD LEE "DICK" DEREMER
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Richard Lee "Dick" Deremer, 69, of Fort Ashby, died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 16, 1929, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Charles and Sarah E. (Daniels) Deremer.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, George W. Deremer and Douglas Deremer.
Mr. Deremer had been self-employed as a farmer.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mr. Deremer was a 35-year member of the Mineral County Farm Bureau, where he had served on the Board of Directors. For over 20 years he had been a member of the FSA, having served on its Community Committee.
Mr. Deremer joined the Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Company on Feb. 15, 1960. From 1961-1979 he served as fire company secretary. From 1987-1995 he was the fire company treasurer.
The Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary sponsor the Mineral County Fair. He served as Fair Secretary/Treasurer from 1966-1997.
Mr. Deremer was also a member of the Fort Ashby Lions Club, which has been the custodian of the Fort Ashby cemetery since July 1953. Beginning in 1953 Mr. Deremer served as secretary/treasurer of the cemetery for 42 years.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Frantz, Piedmont, W.Va.; two brothers, Henry Deremer, Fort Ashby, and Herbert Deremer, Annandale, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Ilse Deremer and Ruth Deremer, both of Fort Ashby, and Kathryn Deremer, Annandale; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 1, 1999, in the Upchurch Funeral Home, Fort Ashby at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Ashby Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 1110, Fort Ashby, WV 26719.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Cheshire, John Logsdon, Bruce Myers, Doug Wolford, Mike Logsdon and Lantz Evans.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be J. William Marker, Ed Neff, Gary Logsdon, Andy Logsdon, Chad Jeffries, Brady Lewis and Fred Siple.
MELVIN GILLASPIE JR.
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Melvin E. Gillaspie Jr., 43, died suddenly at his Ridgeley home on Saturday, March 6, 1999.
He was born in Cumberland, Md., on Nov. 4, 1955.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Prior to moving back to the area, Mr. Gillaspie had worked as a security guard in Illinois.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Sherrie; his paternal grandparents, Frank and Bessie Gillaspie; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Ruth Lease.
Mel is survived by his son, Lucas, Flintstone; his mother, Eleanor (Lease) Gillaspie, Cumberland; three brothers, Terry Gillaspie and wife, Joyce, Short Gap, Steve Gillaspie and wife, Debbie, and Brian Gillaspie, all of Joliet, Ill.; one sister, Kim Gillaspie, Joliet; beloved friend, Maria Matile and her children, Timothy and Jenifer. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his father also survive.
Friends were received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Dayhoff officiating.

MARY A. GREEN
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Mary A. Green, 82, of Morgantown, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at the Morgan Manor Nursing Home, Morgantown.
Born Feb. 27, 1917, in Hartmonsville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Cora Shobe Green. She was also preceded in death by her husband.
Mrs. Green was Methodist by faith, and a retired clerk from Sears and Roebuck, in the Midwest.
She is survived by an aunt, Maude Copeland, of Elk Garden, W.Va.; and several cousins.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at 12:30 p.m. in the Nethken Hill cemetery, Elk Garden, W.Va., with the Rev. Loren Metzner, officiating.
