FANNIE LUCY CHANEY
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Fannie Lucy Chaney, 83, of Carpendale, died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born March 1, 1916, in Elkins, she was the daughter of the late Martin "Bill" Leroy Holcomb and the late Lucy Ellen (Jordon) Holcomb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the late Cloyd Levon Chaney, on April 20, 1973; and three brothers, Richard, Nelson and Denton Holcomb.
Mrs. Chaney was a graduate of Allegany High School class of 1934. She was a retired bookkeeper for her husband at Cloyd L. Chaney Moving & Storage Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Cloyd M. "John" Chaney, Carpendale; a daughter, Mary Ellen Finch, Carpendale; a granddaughter, Diana L. Hall and husband, Barry, Virginia Beach, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Hall, Virginia Beach.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A.
ROBERT W. BRADFIELD SR.
PATTERSON CREEK, W.Va. - Robert "Bob" William Bradfield Sr., 71, of Patterson Creek, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at his residence.
Born March 6, 1928, in Forks of Cacapon, Hampshire County, he was the son of the late Paul S. and Ruth (Stotler) Bradfield. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Bradfield.
Mr. Bradfield served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He retired in 1983 from Peoples Life Insurance, where he had been an insurance salesman.
Mr. Bradfield was a member of the Woodrow Union Church, and a life member of the Fort Ashby Post 6667 VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Annabell (Miner) Bradfield; one son, Robert William "Bill" Bradfield Jr. and wife Kim, Fort Ashby; four daughters, Cindi Judy and husband Buster, Ridgeley, Brenda Elza and husband Ed, Short Gap, Jackie Miller and husband Randy, Cumberland, and Mary Beth Merritt and husband Neal, Fort Ashby; three brothers, Charles "Chuck" Bradfield and wife Madge, Patterson Creek, Paul S. Bradfield and wife Frances, Hagerstown, and Wayne Bradfield and wife Rita, Paw Paw; three sisters, Magdalene "Peggy" Straw, Green Spring, Helen Shambaugh, Slanesville, and Dale Bradfield, Augusta; a foster sister, Elma Herrell, Paw Paw; and nine grandchildren, Hope Michaels and husband Kevin, Sarah and Eddie Elza, Courtney Miller, Neal and Brock Merritt, and Megan, Kayla and Zachary Bradfield.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m.
The funeral will follow on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with Lt. Col. Michael T. Bradfield, Chaplain, and the Rev. Roy Stanley officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bruce Myers, Delbert Myers, Craig Poland, Richard Michael, Richard Myers and Chuck Humberson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Al "Red" Fisher, Donald "Tip" Hayes, Robert Holler, Robert Abe and Justin Ratcliff.
CLARA L. BRENAMAN
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Clara Lucille (Walker) Brenaman, 85, of Ridgeley, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
She was born Sept. 14, 1913, in West Virginia.
Mrs. Brenaman was a homemaker and attended Graceland Baptist Church, Short Gap.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday at the End of Trail cemetery, Clintonsville, at 2 p.m.

MARY C. BURGESS
NEW CREEK, W.Va. - Mary Catherine Burgess, 58, of New Creek, died on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.
Born March 10, 1941, in Cabins, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hetty (Carr) Reel. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Self in August, 1968; one son, Charles Edward Self; and two brothers, Branson Reel and Robert Reel.
Mrs. Burgess was a homemaker aid for the Mineral County Committee on Aging, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Keyser.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth R. Burgess; two sons, John E. Self, Warrenton, Va., and Phillip Tracy Self, Culpeper, Va.; two daughters, Patricia Smith, Keyser, and Ellen K. Brown, North Wilkesboro, N.C.; one stepson, Donald R. Burgess, Mount Storm; two stepdaughters, Donna Burgess, Cabins, and Sue Alt, Upper Tract; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, William Reel, Cold Brook, N.Y., Edgar Reel, Moorefield, and David Reel, Baker; and two sisters, Annie Sheppard, Cold Brook, N.Y., and Dorothy Sites, Moorefield.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the President Casey Ritz officiating.
LILLIAN M. BULLINGTON
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Lillian May Bullington, 94, of Sherwood Acres, Ridgeley, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 20, 1905, in Bartow, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Alberta "Allie" B. (Hamrick) McCloud. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Franklin Bullington.
Mrs. Bullington was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Cumberland. She was one of the founding members and past president of Beverly Hills Garden Club, Huntington, W.Va., lifetime member of the WV State Garden Club, lifetime member of Guyandotte Chapter 89, O.E.S. She had worked briefly with the Cumberland Garden Club.
Survivors include her niece, Sondra Iser and husband, Arnold, with whom she resided in Sherwood Acres; her nephew, Sam McCloud, Winter Springs, Fla.; great-nieces and nephews, Debra Iser, Malinda Iser, Gary Iser, Edward Iser, and David Iser.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. O. Morton Harris, Jr., officiating.
Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Huntington, W.Va., on Thursday at 12 p.m.

WILLIE I. COURRIER
KEYSER, W.Va. - Willie Inez Courrier, 91, a resident of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, formerly of 1390 Lynmar St., Keyser, died on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born on Dec. 10, 1907, in Wesson, Miss., she was the daughter of the late James William Smith and Katie Lee (Furr) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ernest A. Courrier, Sr., on June 8, 1951. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Courrier was a graduate of Shepherd College and W.Va. University. She retired from the Mineral County Board of Education having taught at Wiley Ford and Keyser Elementary Schools.
She was a member of the West Virginia Association of Retired Teachers, Mineral County Retired Teachers Association, a charter member of Mineral County Credit Association (now Chessie Federal Credit Union), Alkire Chapter 10, OES, Grand Cross of Color Arch of the Rainbow Ladies, Ladies Oriental Shrine Isis Court 1, Wheeling, Mineral County Senior Citizens, Noontimers Homemakers, Keyser Women's Club, Potomac Valley Medical Society Auxiliary, and Calvary United Methodist Church, where she taught Junior High Sunday School and was a member of the Simper Fidels Sunday School Class.
Surviving are her sons, Ernest A. Courrier, Jr., and wife, Connie T., of Fairmont, Dr. James W. Courrier and wife, Dinah W., of Keyser, and John Samuel Courrier, of Keyser; her daughter, Neva C. Taylor and husband, C. Reeves, of Keyser; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. She loved being a mother and a grandmother.
