ROSE M. CRITES
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Rose Marie Crites, age 50, of Morgantown, died on Tuesday, July 13, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. Ms. Crites fought a valiant two-year battle with leukemia.
Born Aug. 25, 1948, in Petersburg, she was the only child of G. Roscoe Crites, Petersburg, and the late Delona (Hull) Crites. Her mother, Delona, one of the original "Rosie the Riveters" during World War II, named her daughter "Rosie" in remembrance of those days in the Detroit Airplane Plant where she and Roscoe performed their wartime duty to this nation. Rosie was also the granddaughter of the late Albert and Odessa Frye Hull; and the niece of the late Anna Lee and James M.K. Reid Jr., and Kitty Lou and Roland Barr, Petersburg.
Ms. Crites was a member of the United Methodist Church. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1966 and received an associate's degree from Potomac State College in 1968. She moved to Morgantown in 1968 to begin her career, and for the past 23 years has served as the lead Administrative Assistant to the Monongalia Prosecuting Attorney in Morgantown.
Besides her father, Roscoe, now age 91, she is survived by her son, Jon Michael Crites, age 29, of Charleston, S.C.; her beloved, longtime companion and partner in life, Charles Slominski; and her wonderdog, Cricket. Also surviving are numerous devoted cousins and other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Petersburg Grove Street United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 22, 1999, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Longbon officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at the Lahmansville cemetery, Lahmansville.

DOROTHY L. CUMMINGS
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Rev. Dorothy L. Cummings, 59, of Grafton Road, Morgantown, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at home.
Born Sept. 6, 1940, in Morgantown, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Marie Wilson Isenhart. She also was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Isenhart.
The Rev. Cummings was a graduate of the Nazerene Bible College in Colorado Springs, former Associate Pastor at Beckley, former Pastor at Chaplin Apostolic, Associate Pastor at Apostolic of Oakland where she was in charge of the Childrenšs Ministry.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Ralph Cummings; two daughters, Kathy Riley and husband Mark, Independence, and Ronda Wilt, Charles Town; four sons, Ralph Cummings, Morgantown, Bret Cummings, Fairmont, Gregory Cummings and wife Shelly, Oakland, Md., and Rodney Cummings and wife Michele, Morgantown; one brother, Terry Isenhart, Elkins; one aunt, Mammie Schifbauer, Laurel Point; and 13 grandchildren.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, Westover, on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Edwin Harper, the Rev. M.A. Donham and the Rev. Gregory Cummings officiating.
W. W. 'SHOTGUN' CARLILE
ROMNEY, W.Va. - W.W. 'Shotgun' Carlile, 81, of Romney, died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at his residence in Romney.
He was born Dec. 10, 1917, in Rio, a son of the late Henry and Catherine (Baker) Carlile. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Nina Heavener Carlile; one son, Michael Allen Carlile; and two sisters, Mabel Hines and Beauluh Sears.
He owned and operated Shotgun's Tavern for over 25 years. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and a superb gardener. He was a member of the American Legion Hampshire Post #91 and V.F.W. Wappocoma Post #1101. Mr. Carlile served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Judy A. (Fultz) Carlile, Romney; a son, William E. Carlile, Romney; two daughters, Janet M. Barrett, Butler, N.J., Kathy Sue Jones, Fairmont; a step-daughter, Carol Hartman, Shanks; two brothers, Clinton Carlile, Wiley Ford, Joseph Carlile, Bowling Green, Cumberland, Md.; two sisters, Mary Browning, Wiley Ford, Minnie Vislocky, New Foundland, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, Friday, May 21, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, May 22, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Frank Meadows officiating.
Interment will be in the Ebenezer cemetery, Romney. Graveside rites will be accorded by the Veterans Organizations of Hampshire County.
CHRISTINA R. CROWE
KEYSER, W.Va. - Christina Ruth "Chrissy" Crowe, 13, of 156 Maple Ave., Keyser, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Va., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident earlier in the day on Rt. 93 at Scherr, W.Va.
Born on Nov. 28, 1986, at Cumberland, she was the beloved daughter of Randy and Tammy (Swartzmiller) Crowe, of Keyser. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Larry Swartzmiller.
Chrissy was a seventh grade student at Keyser Primary Middle School. She was a follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and attended the Mt. Zion Church, Knobley Road, Keyser. She loved skiing and participating in chat-rooms on the Internet.
Surviving in addition to her parents, are her devoted brother, Joshua Crowe, at home; her loving grandparents, Shirley (Michael) Swartzmiller, Keyser, Archie and Jerry (Rawlings) Crowe, New Creek, W.Va., and Barbara Swartzmiller, of Tiltonsville, Ohio; she will also be missed by five cousins; five aunts; seven uncles; and many, many friends.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Mt. Zion Church, Knobley Road, Keyser, on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Pastor Jerry Eisenhour, officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.

GLEN "BUCK" COMBS
BAKER, W.Va. - Glen "Buck" Combs, 90, of Baker, died on Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at the Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney.
Mr. Combs was born on June 14, 1909, in Needmore, a son of the late Granville and Rachel Teets Combs.
He was a farmer and worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways in the Hardy County area. He was a member of the New Dale Church of the Brethren, Baker.
He was married
to Leona Funkhouser, who died on Oct. 11, 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Gilbert Combs, Kathleen, Fla., Charles A. Funkhouser, Baker; one daughter, Betty Branson, Moorefield; one brother, Ray Combs, Winchester, Va.; two sisters, Sadie Brill, New Creek; Ina Fletcher, Winchester; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, at 1 p.m. at the New Dale Church of the Brethren. Officiating will be the Rev. Ernest Halterman.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at the Loy-Giffin Funeral Home in Wardensville from 7 to 9 p.m.
Pallbearers are Roger Fletcher, OÕBrien Combs, Lawrence Combs, James Ray Combs, Gene Combs and Donnie Combs.

SUSAN H. CHESTER
PETERSBURG, W.Va. - Susan Hill Chester, 83, of Petersburg, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at the Grant County Nursing Home.
Born March 9, 1916, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Hill and Capitola Baker Chester. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, James, Keith and Ray Hill.
With the exception of seven years in Morgantown, Susan lived and worked in Petersburg. She enjoyed music, church activities, and most especially her"babies" (grandchildren), nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Rebeckha's, Busy Bees Homemakers Club, Methodist Women and choir, and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a charter member of Burlington Children's Home Auxiliary. From 1948 to 1980, she was employed as a bookkeeper/clerk by Southern States Cooperative, Petersburg.
Surviving are one daughter, Ann C. Day, Summerland Key, Fla.; three sisters, Catherine Hill, Petersburg, Jean Combs, Moorefield, and Jo Anne Mowery, Upper Tract; two grandchildren, Johanna Leigh Hayes, Wilmington, Del., and John Michael Day, Denver, Colo.; and great-grandchildren, Shannon Elizabeth Hayes and Quinn Decland, both of Wilmington.
The family will receive friends at the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Main Street United Methodist Church, Petersburg, on Monday, March 22, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Wildman officiating.
Burial will be in the South Branch Memorial Gardens, Petersburg.
Memorials may be made to either the Grant County Nursing Home or Main Street United Methodist Church.
