John Poore, 76, of Richlands, VA, formerly of Bradshaw, WV, died Dec. 4, 2003 in Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands.
Born in Bradshaw, he was a son of the late John and Lillie Mullins Poore.
He was a member of the Jesus Church of Bartley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Verval Powell Poore, and several brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his original family.

The funeral was conducted Dec. 8 at 12 noon at the Jesus Church of Bartley with the Revs. Charles Rose and Charley Kennedy officiating.
Burial followed in the Keen cemetery on Compton Mountain.

William "Bill" Hagerman
William "Bill" Hagerman, 77, of Warriormine, WV, went home to be with his Savior Nov. 30, 2003.
Born in War, WV, he was a son of the late John and Bethel Hagerman.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the True Light Church of God in Jesus Name in Shop Hollow, WV.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Chloe Hagerman; one brother, Earl Hagerman; two sisters, Pinky Tunnell and Rose Ellen Belcher; and one grandson, Sam Muncy.
Survivors: sons, Billy Hagerman and companion, Gladys, and Ray Hagerman and wife, Juanita, all of Warriormine; daughters, Charlotte Shelton and husband, Charles, of War, WV, Sheila Muncy and husband, Melvin, and Lisa Muncy and husband, Jimmy, all of Warriormine; sisters, Lucille Muncy, Betty Christian, and Georgia Hughes, all of War; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Dec. 3 at the True Light Church of God in Jesus Name at Shop Hollow with the Rev. Wilmer Muncy and Mary Hagerman officiating.

Anna Elizabeth Phillips, 85, of the Golden Age Retirement Home, Claypool Hill, formerly of Belle, WV, died Dec. 1, 2003 at Claypool Hill following a lengthy illness.
Born in New Haven, WV, she was the daughter of the late Henry D. and Rena Kearns Johnson, both Mason County, WV, natives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wayne Phillips; one sister, Mae Robinson; and two brothers, James H. Johnson and Paul D. Johnson.

Herman Thornsbury
Herman Thornsbury, 75, of Bluefield, VA, and formerly from Northfork, WV, died at Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Nov. 29, 2003.
Born in Litwar, WV, he was a son of the late Charles Martin Thornsbury and Ida Skeens Thornsbury.
He was employed by Keystone Mines until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.

Lloyd E. Stevenson, 82, of Bristol, VA, died Nov. 17, 2003 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Volls Creek, WV, and had only spent the last five years in Bristol, VA. He was the son of the late Aurther and Kezzy Earls Stevenson.
He was a retired coal miner and farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Born in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Hugh H. and Evangeline Albert Taylor, both Russell County natives.
He attended Russell County schools and was a WWII veteran and retired from Jim Walter Resources after 16 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Peggy Ketron Taylor; his only son, Howard Taylor; and one brother, William C. Taylor.

Agnes Lucille McGuire, 88, of Bluefield, WV, formerly of Baptist Valley, died Nov. 10, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Linda Neal, in Bluefield, WV.
Born in Pounding Mill, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Hannah Belle Christian Beavers, Baptist Valley residents for many years.
She had made her home in the Baptist Valley area most of her life moving to Bluefield, WV, to live with her daughter three years ago. She was of the Pentecostal Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin W. McGuire; two sisters, Pauline Lowe and Betty Smith; and one brother, Herman Beavers.

Wanda Lee Meade
Wanda Lee Fletcher Meade, 76, of Tazewell, died Nov. 8, 2003 at Tazewell Community Hospital of complications from a stroke.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. A lifelong resident of Tazewell County, she was born Nov. 2, 1927 at Beech Fork, WV. She was a daughter of the late Charles Walter and America Powers Fletcher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Meade; two sons, Jack Nelson Meade and Paul Edward Meade; and one sister, Rosa Crockett Lane.

Thurman Raines
Thurman Raines, 92, of Cedar Bluff, died Nov. 6, 2003 at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Canebrake, WV, he was the son of the late Samuel T. and Jenny Rasnick Raines.
He was owner of Raines Shopping Center from 1957 – 1977. He was a charter member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Fair Lee McConnell Raines; his second wife, Lyle Barnett Raines; and seven brothers, Kyle Raines, Joseph Raines, W.E. (Jack) Raines, Alvin Raines, John Herbert (Hub) Raines, Thornton Raines and Samuel Raines. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family in his generation.
Survivor: daughter, Patricia Raines of Cedar Bluff.

Vanam Clifton Roark, 87, of Bristol, TN, went to be with the Lord Nov. 5, 2003 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Born in McDowell County, WV, he was a son of the late Zack and Bertha Coleman Roark.
He lived most of his life in Tazewell, before moving to Bristol five years ago.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, June Roark and Jack Roark.
