Hollie Stump, 65, of Plant City, Florida, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1993, at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. A native of Mt. Zion, he was the son of Lewis Stump. He moved to Florida from Mt. Zion in 1960. He was a produce handler, Army veteran, and Protestant. He is survived by two sons, Kenneth and Robert; two daughters, Cindy Lee and Carolyn Sue, all of Ohio; a brother, Denzel of Plant City; and several grandchildren. He was buried in Memorial Park, Plant City, Fla., with Wells Funeral Home, Plant City, in charge of services.
STUMP, TREACY J.
Treacy J. Stump, 88, of Sand Ridge, died Sunday, May 1, 1994, at Americare-Glenville after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late George and Bessie Wilson. She retired as a postmistress at Apple Farm with 30 years of service. She belonged to Grantsville Rebekah Lodge and Rush Run Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Rupert Stump of Glenville; three brothers, Hugh Wilson of Grantsville, Luke Wilson and Johnson Wilson, both of Parkersburg; five sisters, Bessie Ledsome of Reedy, Donnie Waldeck of Parkersburg, Eda Stalnaker of Elizabeth, Ocie Fowler and Mary Starkey, both of Grantsville; three grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sull Stump; a son Hugert Stump; a brother; and a sister. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Sand Ridge cemetery.
STURM, BESSIE
Bessie Sturm, 85, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 1994, on Rt. 5 west of Grantsville from injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late William "Nick" and Francy Lukens Duskey. She was retired from B.F. Goodrich Co., Grantsville, and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Grantsville, and the Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are one daughter, Marie Cheesbrew of Grantsville; two sons, Richard Sturm of Ravenswood and John Sturm of Parkersburg; one foster son, Tom Barker of Newark, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lenna Sturm; and one son, Robert Sturm. Services were held at First Baptist Church, Grantsville, with Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery.
STUTLER, BOYD W.
Boyd W. Stutler, 65, of Parkersburg, formerly of Calhoun County, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 1994, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital of injuries sustained in an auto accident on Rt. 14 near Elizabeth on Sept. 20, 1994. He was born in Cremo, a son of the late Bertha Starcher. He was a U. S. Army veteran and was retired from Mohawk Rubber Plant, Akron, Ohio. He was a member of American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Surviving are his wife, Ava George Stutler; one son, David Stutler of Parkersburg, two daughters, Tammie Stutler of Parkersburg and Sue West of Chloe; three brothers, Bobby Ray Starcher of Oil City, Pa., Dexter "Pete" Starcher of Mesa, Ariz., and Don Freshour of Youngsville, Pa.; two sisters, Earldine Starcher and Margie Nester, both of Mt. Zion; one uncle, Harley Starcher of Toledo, Ohio; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Stutler; two brothers, Harold Starcher and Ben Starcher; and one sister, Geraldine Sturm. Services were held at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, with Rev. Richard E. Talbot, Sr., officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive cemetery.
SWESEY, ANNA M.
Anna M. Swesey, 91, of Akron, Ohio, died Friday, Nov. 4, 1994, at Ridgewood Place Nursing Home, Akron. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Elihue and Florence Johnson McGee. She was a homemaker and had been in the Akron area since 1945. She was a member of Free Gospel Church, Akron. Surviving are two daughters, Eva Germano of Manchester, Ohio, and Leona Zickefoose of Norton, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Wanda Madison and Betty Simmons, both of Parkersburg, and Peggy Alloway of Coolville, Ohio; two stepsons, Kenneth Swesey of Parkersburg and Francis Swesey, Jr., of Doylestown, Ohio; one brother Elza Parker of Pine Grove; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Francis M. Swesey, and one son, Coy Simmons. Services were held at Franklin Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Vernon E. Bailey officiating. Burial was in Rockland cemetery, Belpre, Ohio.

George Glenn Tucker, 60, of Walker, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 1994, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of Thelma R. Talkington Tucker of Walker and the Roy D. Tucker. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a self-employeed construction worker. Surviving in addition to his mother are three sisters, Marla Cantwell and Nina Cantwell, both of Walker, and Delmas Sigley of Parkersburg; one brother, Charles Tucker of Navarre, Ohio; two half sisters, Orva Ellison of Parkersburg and Melba Jarvis of Minnora; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Charles B. Barr officiating. Burial was in Orma cemetery.

Marie E. Rose Tucker, 94, of Sundale, formerly of Morgantown, died Monday, Sept. 12, 1994, at Sundale Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born in Calhoun County, daughter of the late Sheridan and Roselia Saunders Snyder. She was a former member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church and also attended Wesley United Methodist Church. Surviving are her second husband, J. Wyland Tucker; a son, Phillp C. Rose of Klamuth Falls, Ore.; a daughter, Mrs. William (Bettie) Rushford of Morgantown; five sisters, Emma Alton and Ruth Baum, both of Parkersburg, Josephine Dean of Little Rock, Ark., Loretta Hosey of Grantsville and Sophie Smith of Morgantown, with whom she previously made her home; a brother, Lester Snyder of Grantsville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles C. Rose, in 1954; two sisters; and two brothers. Services were held at Hastings Funeral Home, with Dr. Roger L. Smith officiating. Burial was in East Oak Grove cemetery.
UMSTEAD, DAVID M.
David M. Umstead, 63, of Grantsville, died Sunday, May 1, 1994, at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Grantsville, a son of the late William O. and Lillian Thornbury Umstead. He was a Glenville State College graduate and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an independent insurance agent, a 25-year member of the Moorefield and Grantsville Lions Clubs and belonged to Victor Hamilton American Legion Post, Grantsville. He was former chairman of Hardy County Heart Fund, former president of Mt. Zion Community Action Association, and former commander of John Golliday American Legion Post, Moorefield. He was a member and former trustee of First Baptist Church, Grantsville. Surviving are his wife, Mary Louise Gillespie Umstead; three daughters, Judith Lynn Fuller of Green Bank, Jane Louise Poling of Millstone and Jennifer Lee White of Mathias; a brother, William O. Umstead III of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Eugenia Husar of Mesa, Ariz.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Boggs. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. James Pearson officiating, with burial in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg, with military rites, at 2 p.m., Wednesday.

Leo Vannoy, 73, of Stumptown, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 1994, in Morgantown after an extended illness. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Alvin H. and Murhl Sharp Vannoy. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Rush Run Baptist Church near Stumptown. Surviving are one sister, Gladys Vannoy Bond of Lehigh, Fla.; one niece, Judith B. Morris of Morgantown; and one nephew, Robert E. Bond of North Cocoa, Fla. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mattie Sharp Vannoy. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Sylvester Stump cemetery, near Stumptown.
VASQUEZ, ELIZABETH J.
Elizabeth (Liz) Vasquez, 47, of Ontario, Calif., died Sunday, July 31, 1994, at her home following an extended illness. She was born Mar. 21, 1947, at Altizer, a daughter of Eulia Rader and the late James Coy Rader. She is survived by her husband, Trent Vasquez; one daughter, Ronnette, at home; two sons, Brent, at home, and Trent, Jr., of Akron, Ohio; mother, Eulia Rader of Grantsville; two sisters, Judy Norris of Grantsville, and Jean Norris of Barberton, Ohio; six brothers, Charles Rader of Barberton, Robert Rader of Glenville, Homer Rader of Norton, Ohio, Tom Rader of Annamoriah, James R. Rader of Colton, Calif., and Russ Rader of El Monte, Calif.; and one grandson, Matthew Allen Vasquez of Ontario. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church of Chino, Calif. She was cremated and her ashes were returned to her home, where a private memorial service was held.
VIRDEN, ESTELLA V.
Estella V. Virden, 94, of Belmont, died Thursday, April 7, 1994, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg. She was born in Hebron, a daughter of the late Simeon Deck and Florence McKibben Snyder. She was Valedictorian of St. Marys High School, Class of 1918, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. She served as Circuit Clerk of Pleasants County for eight years during the 1940's. She was a member of the Macabees, and St. Marys United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Roy Joseph Virden, Jr., of Grantsville, and Jean Snyder Virden of Lancaster, Ohio; one daughter, Linda V. Gault of Belmont; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy J. Virden, in 1976; four sisters; and one brother. Services were held at Ruttencutter Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial was in St. Marys IOOF cemetery.

Willadene Walbrown, 54, of Linden, died Monday, Sept 12, 1994, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. She was born in Milo, a daughter of Curtis L. and Dorothy Miller Walbrown of Linden. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Dewey Tanner officiating. Burial was in Fink cemetery, near Minnora.
WEAVER, WILLIAM C.
William C. Weaver, 66, of Longboat Key, Fla., formerly of Charleston, died Thursday, June 9, 1994, in Florida. He was a native of Grantsville and a five-year resident of Longboat Key. He was a lawyer, having practiced in Charleston for 37 years. He was an Army veteran and a graduate of West Virginia University College of Law. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Charleston, and past president of Kanawha County Bar Association and West Virginia State Bar. He was a member of the board of Country Club Shores Home Owners Association. Surviving are his wife, Cary B. Weaver; daughter, Laura B. of Raleigh, N.C.; and brother, Carlton D. of Ashland, Ky.
