Lilly F. Meadows, 92, of Richwood, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 1995, at Richwood Health Care Center after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Henry and Nora Drennan McCumbers. She was a retired farmer and a Protestant. Surviving are two half-brothers, Lester McCumbers of Nicut and Harold McCumbers of Leatherbark Creek; two half-sisters, Orpha Yeager of Spencer and Dovie Hall of Belpre; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Meadows; and one son. Services were held at Ellyson Mortuary, Glenville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. Burial was in Stalnaker cemetery.

Roy E. "Ed" Meadows, 69, of Parkersburg, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 1995, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Roscoe and Nannie Ball Meadows. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Elkem in 1982. He was a member and trustee of Grace Gospel Church, Pettyville. Surviving are his wife, Roma Jean Posey Meadows; one son, Terry Meadows of Parkersburg; and one grandson, Michael E. Meadows of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by one sister, Rosalee Marks; and three brothers, Roscoe Meadows, Jr., Robert Meadows and Spencer Meadows. Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Bill Angel officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

O. Vear Metz, 81, Arnoldsburg, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 1995, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home, Sissonville, after an extended illness. He was born in Ilet Run, Roane County, a son of the late Alonzo and Bertha Ash Metz. He was a retired oil field worker, having last worked for Hank Pence Oil Co., Spencer. Surviving are his wife, Mable Louk Metz; five daughters, Mary Butler and Imogene Bowers, both of Spencer, Elsie Hamrick of Clinton, Ohio, Grace Hall of Arnoldsburg and Bertha Dyer of Kentucky; one son, Olen Metz of Wooster, Ohio; two sisters, Ruth Edens of Clinton and Minnie Harvey of Barberton, Ohio; two brothers, Oris Metz of Barberton and Vance Metz of Kenova; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial was in Wilson-Lester cemetery, near Arnoldsburg.

Eula Pauline Postlewait, 83, of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, May 23, 1995, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Henderson and Bertha Metz Richards. She was employed by American Viscose Division of FMC Corp. for 13 years, and later retired from JCPenney. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Parkersburg. Surviving are one daughter, Judith Lee Sprouse of Parkersburg; one brother, Robert Lee "Bud" Richards of Harrisville; three sisters, Virgie Frederick of Big Springs, Edith Opal Fluharty of Harrisville and Fern Mercedes Anderson of Belpre; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Postlewait, in 1981; one son, Ronald Gary Postlewait, in 199l; one daughter, Carolyn Ann Peppers, in 199l; two brothers; and two sisters. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Kenneth Fullerton officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery.

Jane Marjelle Powell, 55, of Dayton, Ohio, died Friday, July 14, 1995, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born in Spencer, a daughter of LoVerne Burns Powell of Fayetteville and the late Paul B. Powell, both formerly of Grantsville. She was a Wahama High School graduate in Mason, also Gallipolis Business College, Marshall University, and West Virginia University with degrees in psychology. She interned at Weston State Hospital. She taught at Glenville State College and Sinclair Community College and owned and operated Psycho-Social Therapeutic Services, Inc. She was a licensed mediator. Surviving in addition to her mother are one brother, R.P. Powell of Fayetteville; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial services were held Sunday at Cox Arboretum, Dayton.

Victor C. "Vic" Price, 83, of Spencer, died Thursday, June 8, 1995, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born in Altizer, a son of the late Dow and Minnie Anderson Price. He was a former school teacher in Calhoun County and was a barber in Spencer for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Hebron Church, Spencer, where he was a former Sunday School teacher. Surviving are one brother, Vere Price of Arnoldsburg; two nieces, Mary Smith of Spencer and June Hall of Millstone; and one nephew, Loren Price of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Mace Price, in 1985; and one brother, Orus Price. Services were held at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Burial was in Eventide cemetery, Spencer.

Lelia Belle DePue Rader, 95, of Sarasoto, Fla., formerly of Wirt County, died Monday April 3, 1995, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Creston, a daughter of the late Peter Thomas Lashley and Elizabeth Pettit DePue. She attended Wirt County schools and was a school teacher for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sarasota, Fla., Daughters of the American Revolution, Former Teacher's Association, Muskingum Chapter 485, Order of the Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a 50-year resident of Sarasota, where she volunteered at the Happiness House of the American Red Cross. Surviving are one daughter, Eloise Fidler of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alfred "Floyd" Rader; five brothers; and four sisters. Services were held at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Charles R. Murray officiating. Burial was in DePue Family cemetery, Creston.

Ray Reading, 105, of Grantsville, formerly of Arnoldsburg, died Thursday, June 22, 1995, at Calhoun General Hospital, after an extended illness. He was born in Otto, Roane County, a son of the late Charles Scott and Eliza McMillan Reading. He was a former merchant at Arnoldsburg, had owned a trucking business and was a well-known Arnoldsburg farmer. He was a member of Arnoldsburg United Methodist Church. Surviving are one son, Bill of Dunbar; one daughter, Lucille Gainer of Charleston; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lora Ferrell Reading, and two daughters, Mildred Jarvis and Juanita Harris. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Glendon McKee and Rev. Mike Worf officiating. Burial was in Eventide cemetery, Spencer.

Columbus T. Reed, Jr., 66, of Weirton, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 1995, in Presbyterian University Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was the son of Columbus T. Reed and J. Rachel Modesitt Reed. He was a retired employee of Weirton Steel Corp. diesel shop and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Mercy Baptist Church, Weirton. Surviving are his wife, Loretta P. Reed; two sons, Kenneth R. and William L., both of Weirton; one daughter, Panda of Weirton; one brother, Donald Ray of Big Springs; three sisters, Elma Edgell of Barberton, Ohio, Fonda Holstine of Akron, Ohio, and Betty Cunningham of Creston; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Services were held at Mercy Baptist Church, with Pastor James Rhodes officiating. Burial was in Mount Olive cemetery, Salem.

He was born in Grantsville, a son of Nellie Hardway Reed of Millstone and the late Carry F. Reed. He was a former car sales manager for Calhoun Super Service of Grantsville for 26 years. He was a former Calhoun County commissioner, former Grantsville Town Council member, former Calhoun Wood Festival chairman, and former chief of Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church, Grantsville. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Linda Craddock Reed; one daughter, Rhonda Miller of Glenville; one son, Brent Reed of Ashland, Ohio; two sisters, Brooksene Kerby of Millstone and Judy Price of Parkersburg; three brothers, James Reed of Millstone, and Jerry Reed and Alvin Reed, both of Parkersburg; and two grandchildren. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. John L. Smith and Rev. Terry Burgess officiating. Burial was in Slate cemetery, near Spencer.

Calhoun County businessman and politician Loyd Reed, Jr., 73, of Grantsville, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 1995, at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Glenville, a son of the late Loyd and Euna Smith Reed. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He had owned and operated Reed's Grocery Store, Reed's Furniture Co., and Reed's Restaurant. He served as Calhoun County Clerk for 20 years and was one of the founders of Bee Creek Hunting Club and Calhoun Athletic Boosters. He was a member of Hardman Chapel United Methodist Church, near Smithville. Surviving are his wife, Pearl Edna Shimer Reed; two sons, David Reed of Grantsville and Timothy Reed of Portland, Ohio; two daughters, Phyllis Whipkey of Grantsville and Euna Reed of Five Forks; one sister, Winnie Sheppard of Parkersburg; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with burial in Bethlehem cemetery, Grantsville.

Orva E. Rexroad, 77, of Glenville, died Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, at Americare-Glenville. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Benjamin A. and Annie Marie Schoolcraft Parsons. She was a housewife and a Methodist. Surviving are three sons, Frank Rexroad and James Rexroad, both of Dusk Camp, and David Rexroad of Mentor, Ohio; one daughter, Joann Jones of Glenville; one brother, Lorie Parsons of Texas; one sister, Hazel Gae Valentine of Cleveland; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Rexroad; one brother; and two sisters. Services were held at Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville, with Rev. Frank Dillon officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove cemetery.

Margaret Reynolds, 53, of Orlando, Fla., died Sunday, April 2, 1995, at Orlando. She was born in Ripley, a daughter of Iva Raines Waybright of Reedy, and the late Harvey Waybright. Waybright of Strasburg, Va., Nelson Waybright of Cleveland and Frederick G. Waybright of Arnoldsburg; and one sister, Stella Jenkins of Sissonville. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Waybright. Services were held at Parsons Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial was in Ravenswood cemetery.
