Grover C. Sloan, Jr., 82, of Justice, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 16, 2008, from his residence.
Born on September 11, 1926, at Grundy VA, he was the beloved son of the late Grover C. and Lillian (Dotson) Sloan, Sr.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: one grandson, Neil Sloan; his three sisters: Tootsie Sloan, Edna Nichols, and Pauline Stacy; and his brother, Bill Sloan.
Grover was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a retired sawmill worker and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Arnold Dale Collins, 58, of Baisden, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 17, 2008, from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan.
Born on August 14, 1950, at Welch, he was the beloved son of the late Shird and Sissie (Slone) Collins.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: one daughter, Sarah Brittany Collins; one brother, J B Shird Collins; and three sisters: Betty Ann Haney, Myrtle Schults, and Ermal Wilson.
Arnold was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a disabled coal miner, and had served the Lord in the Old Regular Baptist Church for 27 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Freddie Paul Hatfield, Jr., 35, of Spice Creek section of Verner, departed this life on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at his residence.
Born on May 7, 1973, at Man, he was the beloved son of Freddie and Margaret (Lester) Hatfield, Sr.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Onnie and Maggie Hatfield; and his maternal grandparents, Auldie and Angie Lester.
Freddie was a loving: son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved hunting, 4-wheeling, and being outdoors. He was a heavy equipment operator and of the Freewill Baptist Faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Loyd Scotty Moore, 68, of Wharncliffe, departed this life on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at his residence.
Born on October 14, 1940, at Thacker, he was the beloved son of the late Pleaman and Emmy (Smith) Moore.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: four sisters: Jenny may, Lorraine Moore, Dimple Blevins, and Clista Murphy; and two brothers: Andy Blevins and Ralph Willis.
Scotty was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a disabled coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and of the Church of God faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Born on August 14, 1938 at Glen Alum, he was the beloved son of the late Garland and Julia (Patrick) Dotson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: three brothers: Garland William, Kester, and Elmer Dotson; and four sisters: Wanda Jean, Linda Sue, and Geraldine Dotson, and Diane Jean Ellison.
Franklin was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Karen Lou (Cline) Hatfield, 46, of Omar, departed this life on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at her residence.
Born on July 31, 1962, at Pineville, she was the beloved daughter of Ophelia (Hatfield) Harper and the late Wonnie Cline.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by one sister, Elaine Keaton.
Karen was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a homemaker and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Roger Buck 'Pumphandle' Elswick, 61, of Green Valley, went to be with the Lord and his loving wife, on Sunday, November 23, 2008 from St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 13, 1947, at Toney Fork of Huff Creek, he was the beloved son of the late William Buck and Gracie Jane (Gibson) Elswick.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 29 years, Phyllis Jean Elswick; two sisters, one an infant, Joyce Marie Elswick and Armenta Jane Elswick; and an infant brother, McKinley Elswick.
Roger was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a disabled coal miner with 15 years, and of the Pentecostal Faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
