Jimmie Gay Shipman
Jimmie Gay Shipman, age 72, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at his home. He was born March 25, 1943 in Queens, WV, a son of the late Floy G. and Hilda V. Light Shipman. On December 29, 1969 he married Wilma Tenney who preceded him in death on December 13, 2006. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill and Michael Ford and infant brother, Gary Arnold Shipman. Surviving are six daughters, Amy Kelley and husband Gregory and Wilma Hoover and husband Brian all of Tallmansville, WV, Hilda Shipman and Roby Teter of Elkins, WV, Holly McVay and husband Nick of French Creek, WV, Connie Lee and husband Robert of Marlinton, WV and Cathy York and husband Ben of Boone, NC; one son, Gary Landis and wife Jennifer of Warren, OH; seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his companion, Reta Riley of Buckhannon; five brothers, Rick Ford and wife Britt of Richmond, VA, Delmas Shipman and wife Keri of Bruceton Mills, WV; Don Shipman and wife Divetta of Saint Marys, WV; Carroll Shipman and wife Sue of MD and Steve Shipman of Queens; one sister, Mary Tenney of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Mr. Shipman was a Methodist by faith and a carpenter. He loved spending time with his family and being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Friends will be received Wednesday March 2, 2016 from 11AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral will follow at 1PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanham Cemetery in Queens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to help with funeral expenses. Martha Jane Tenney
Martha Jane Tenney, age 60, of Batton Hollow Rd., Lost Creek, WV, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 at her home, while under the care of Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg. She was born May 25, 1946 in Weston, WV, a daughter of the late C. Clark Wolfe and Lorene Lewis Wolfe of Glenville, WV. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband David A. Tenney whom she married September 19, 1964; one son, Brent Tenney and partner Mark Healey of Staunton, VA; one daughter, Barbara Tenney Evans and husband John of Morgantown, WV; three grandsons, Christian, Matthew and Eric Evans all of Morgantown; two brothers, Lewis Wolfe and wife Diane of Parkersburg, WV and John Wolfe and wife Carol of Glenville; one sister, Julia Randolph and husband Steve of Bridgeport, WV; also numerous nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenville and a member of the Red Hat Society of Lost Creek. Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Monday, February 26, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Lewis and Rev. Marion Ruth True
Marion Ruth True, age 82 of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, September 23, 2007 at her home. She was born October 19, 1924 in Century, WV, the daughter of the late Henry Lewis and Gertrude May Smith Moran. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian Harvey; a son, James R. True, Jr.; three brothers, Fred Orville, Richard Azey and Robert Lewis Moran; and five sisters, Anna Andrea, Ruby Coleman, Floda Parziale, Clara Belle Storr and Mary Kurucz.. On November 27, 1945 she married James R. True of Buckhannon who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Clara Jean Hawkins and husband Kevin of Tallmansville, WV; two grandsons, William A. Evans of Concord, NC and James Michael True of Sierra Vista, AZ; four granddaughters, Rebecca True-Capicola of Reno, NV, Alicia Harvey-Auvil of Buckhannon, Alison Daugherty of Tallmansville, and Amanda Nesbitt of Buckhannon: four great grandsons, Caleb Daugherty of Tallmansville, Tyler Capicola of Reno, NV, Aydan Auvil of Buckhannon, and Joshua Nesbitt of Buckhannon; three great granddaughters, Channell Capicola of Reno, Faith Auvil of Buckhannon and Brianna True of Sierra Vista, four brothers, Henry Lewis Moran of Buckhannon, William Jackson Moran of Century, WV, Charles Thomas Moran of Philippi, WV, Harry Garfield Moran of Centerville, VA and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. True was a homemaker and attended The Way of Holiness Church. Friends will be received Tuesday, September 25, 2007 from 5-8 PM at The Way of Holiness Church. Eva L. Thomas
Eva L. Thomas, age 93 of Cleveland, OH died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Normandy Manor Nursing Home in Rocky River, OH. She was born May 9, 1914 at Silica, WV, a daughter of the late Frank and Ida Daft Sines. On February 2, 1931 she married Albert Gordon Thomas who preceded her in death on February 1, 1981. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Thomas; two grandsons, Mike Eubank and Rick Fitzgerald; three sisters, Pearl Longdon, Elsie Wilde and Elva Evans and one brother, Arlie Sines. Mrs. Thomas is survived by three daughters, Alberta Fitzgerald of Dennison, OH, Judy Eubank of Cleveland and Ida M. Tenney and husband Ron of Clover, SC; two sons, Jim Thomas and wife Edie of Elizabethton, TN and John Thomas and wife Kathy of Elk Grove Village, IL; one sister, Lenora Loudin of Florida; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren and twenty-seven great great-grandchildren. She was a nurses aide and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Geneva G. Thayer
Geneva G. Thayer, age 88, of Clarksburg, WV died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Heartland of Clarksburg. She was born December 11, 1921 in Bolayer, WV, a daughter of the late Russell S. and Mable M. Bean Brown. On June 17, 1937 she married Hoy L. Thayer who preceded her in death on March 25, 2003. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Berlin L. Bud Thayer and Jeffrey C. Thayer both of Clarksburg; one daughter, Yvonne M. Lawson of Geneva, OH; seven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Mrs. Thayer was a homemaker and a member of the East View United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Woodrow Wilson Teets
Woodrow Wilson Teets, age 93, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born October 20, 1916 in Upshur County, WV, a son of the late Grover C. and Eva Hornbeck Teets. On July 17, 1939 he married Fay Lucille Worcester who preceded him in death on February 26, 2002. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, Gordon and Billy Ford Teets and two sisters, Virginia Carr and Betty Lou Blackburn. He is survived by one daughter, Linda Kay Gardner of Lynn Haven, FL; one son, Jerry Alan Teets and wife Linda Lou of Davenport, FL; one brother, Charles Teets and wife Glenna of FL; one sister, Mary Smith of Sistersville, WV and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Teets was a carpenter. He was a member of the Tennerton Lions Club, Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, and Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, a member of the Silver-Haired Legislature and participated in the Corridor H coordination. He worked for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center during the Apollo Program. Friends will be received Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Geneva (Oldaker) Taylor
Geneva (Oldaker) Taylor, age 92, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Lowery Elzy Oldaker and Willie (Lawson) Oldaker. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Francis Beeson, and three brothers, Joseph, David and William Oldaker. Mrs. Taylor was born October 15, 1918, in Shinnston, WV. She graduated with honors from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1936, and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College attaining a teaching certificate. After teaching in Upshur County, including the Swamp Run School, she returned to West Virginia Wesleyan at the beginning of WWII and took coursework that led to her work at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. While in Ohio, she worked for several companies, including 3M, where she wrote technical specifications. She was visiting friends in Point Pleasant, WV, and met Roy Taylor, whom she married on April 8, 1949. They resided initially in Burnsville and later owned a farm at Walkersville, WV, before moving to Rock Cave. Both Mr. and Mrs. Taylor worked for the US Postal Service. Mr. Taylor died in 2008. Mrs. Taylor is survived by one brother, Edward Lawson Oldaker of Buckhannon; nieces, Kate Oldaker Rymeski of Portland, OR, Lisa Oldaker Palmer of Boston, MA, and Phyllis Veith of Rock Cave; and nephews, Michael Oldaker of French Creek, Steven Oldaker of Red Rock, TX, Bradley Oldaker of Weston, Philip Oldaker of Parkersburg, Joseph Beeson of Charleston and David Beeson of Jefferson, MD. Geneva had around the clock help from Diana Riffle, Helen Riffle and Phyllis Veith for the past several years. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Straight Fork United Methodist Church.
Victor R. Tallman
Victor R. Tallman, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, December 13, 2010 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born April 7, 1925 in Ten Mile, WV, a son of the late Moffett E. and Mayme Beer Tallman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Whitlock who died in 1979. Also three brothers, Ken, Rod and Glen Tallman and two sisters, June Peluso and Sue Williams. He is survived by six nieces, Susan Petree and husband Pete of Umatilla, FL, Marcia Cross and husband Albert of Fairmont, WV, Jenelda Puzzo and husband Dan of Woodstock, IL, Sandra Carney and husband Ed of Abingdon, VA, Penny Tinnell and husband John of Larosa, PA and Barbara Orwig of Huntington, WV and four nephews, Mark Williams and wife Twila of Tallmansville, WV, Frank Larosa and wife Diane of Fairmont, John Tallman of MI and Howard Tallman. Mr. Tallman worked, as a machinist in a copper mine in AZ. He was a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663 and was a Postman in Fairmont, WV. He served in the US Navy during WWII in the Philippines. Friends will be received Wednesday, December 15, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Joseph M. Shreve officiating. Burial will follow in the Tallmansville Baptist Church Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV. Charles E. 'Charlie' Thompson
Charles E. 'Charlie' Thompson, age 66, of Volga, WV died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Hopemont Faith Hospital in Terra Alta, WV. He was born November 25, 1944 in Alma, WV, a son of the late Ora Lester and Edith Ash Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Rice; five sisters, Loraine Mae, Barbara Ann and Avie Jean Thompson, Orpha Lynch and Amanda Betty Spencer. He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Wadsworth of Jacksonburg, WV, Mary Harrison and husband Joe of Jacksonville, FL and Shirley Chapman of Volga, WV; one brother, Ora Thompson, Jr. and wife Theresa of Rupert, WV; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Thompson worked for Headley Sawmill and was a Methodist by faith. Graveside Services will be 2 PM Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Victory Church Cemetery in Alma, WV. Marjorie W. Tucker
Marjorie W. Tucker, 89, of Charlotte, passed away on February 18, 2013. A longtime resident, she has left a legacy of home design and renovation throughout Charlotte. Her artistry in design and special "bells and whistles" were a hallmark of her work. Marjorie was also an accomplished golfer and legendary prankster. Marjorie is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, William "Randy" Tucker. She is survived by her six children, Cindy Fleming, Toby Tucker, Bill Tucker, Susan Wimmer, Emily Andress and Mary Tucker; grandchildren, Chris Fleming, Scott Fleming, Torrey Womble, Caryn Womble Schwarze, Will Tucker, Becky Tucker, Harrison Tucker, Lauren Andress Murray and Matt Andress. great-grandchildren, Charlie Schwarze, Molly Schwarze, Hanna Womble, Liam Kidd and Noah Kidd; sister, Mary Britton and brother and sister-in-law, Frank E. and Jane Wiliams. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. William Randolph 'Randy' Tucker
William Randolph "Randy" Tucker, 87, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, October 23, 2010. Randy, a longtime resident of Charlotte, was a religious philosopher, entrepreneur and one of the "Founding Fathers" of cable television. He also served in the Merchant Marines. Randy is predeceased by a brother, Charles Tucker. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marjorie; their six children, Cindy Fleming, Toby Tucker, Bill Tucker, Susan Wimmer, Emily Andress and Mary Tucker; grandchildren, Chris Fleming, Scott Fleming, Torrey Womble, Caryn Womble Schwarze, Will Tucker, Becky Tucker, Harrison Tucker, Lauren Andress and Matt Andress. He is also survived by his three great-grandchildren, Charles Schwarze, William (Liam) Kidd and Hanna Womble; a sister, Jane Mitchell and nephew Tucker Mitchell. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
