Larry Shamblin

Larry Shamblin, 46, of Parkersburg passed away August 27, 2005, at the Bristol Motor Speedway, Bristol, Tennessee.

He was born May 9, 1959, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of Minnie Pearl Dean Tice of Parkersburg and the late Thomas Edward Shamblin, Jr.

Larry was self-employed as an electrician, heating/cooling and plumbing contractor. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, hiking, fishing, hunting, canoeing, caving, repelling and was one the first to repel the New River Gorge Bridge.

Surviving is his wife of 19 years, Regeina Lott Shamblin; his mother and stepfather, Minnie Pearl and Bob Tice; three daughters, Ashley Nicole, Alishia Marie and Amanda Kay, all of Parkersburg, WV; his grandfather, Thomas Shamblin of Kenova, WV; his brother Christopher Lee Shamblin and his wife, Misty of Parkersburg, WV; his sister, Brenda Kay Haines of Parkersburg; his stepbrother, Bob Tice of Parkersburg; his stepsister, Clara Fowler of Parkersburg; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and one grandnephew.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Hazel Dean and Virginia Shamblin; one aunt; and one cousin.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2005, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, WV 26101 with Pastor Rob Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mildred "Millie" Yocum

Mildred 'Millie' Patricia Harris Yocum, 75, of Parkersburg, WV went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 26, 2005 at the Worthington Manor Care Center, Parkersburg.

She was born in Moundsville, WV, the daughter of the late Oakey Francis and Ada C. Frankley Harris. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Belpre Church of Christ.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Lynne Gates, and her husband, David, of Parkersburg, WV; a grandson, Shawn Michael Gates, of Parkersburg, WV; her special friend, Charlene Ketterman, of Waverly, WV; and several nieces and nephews. Millie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Yocum, in 1979; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV with Evangelist Ronald D. Laughery officiating. Burial will be in the Limestone Cemetery in Marshall County, WV. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.

Beth Kesterson

Beth Kesterson, 74, of Parkersburg, WV passed away Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.

She was born July 27, 1931 in Little Hocking, Ohio, a daughter of the late Alfred and Wilma Giddings Hill. Beth was a former nurse's aide in Lakeland, FL, and formerly worked at the sewing factory in Spencer, WV.

She is survived by her husband, Russell E. Kesterson; two sons, Steve Kesterson and his wife, Debbie, of Parma, OH and Jeffrey Kesterson of Palestine, WV; and three grandchildren, Amanda, Anthony and Gregory Kesterson, all of Ottawa, WV.

In addition to her parents, Beth was preceded in death by one son, John Kesterson; one grandson, Michael Kesterson; and two brothers, Addo and Franklin Hill.

At Beth's request, there will be no calling hours or services. The Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV is assisting the family with arrangements.

Edith Burrows

Edith L. 'Edie' Burrows, 62, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 28, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous 17 battle with cancer.

A daughter of the late Loyal Yoak and Mona Fortney Yoak, she was born on April 9, 1943, on Norman Ridge, Big Bend, Calhoun County, W.Va. As a child she attended the Norman Ridge E.U.B. Church and was educated in Calhoun County Schools. On September 11, 1960 she married W. Dean Burrows.

Edie was a member of River Hill U. M. Church, Parkersburg, W.Va., for many years and was baptized by the Rev. Clyde Crites, assisted by Don Godfrey. She was a teacher of the Beginner's Sunday school class, helped start the first nursery, was a member of the Missions and Outreach Committee and was instrumental in organizing and operating the 'Meals for the Homeless and Needy' program that is still active. Other churches in the area patterned their program after the one at River Hill. Edie was very compassionate and tender hearted and would stop to visit and have prayer with those they served. She made many lasting friendships during her years at River Hill. She attended Calvary Memorial Church, Parkersburg, for approximately 12 years and enjoyed her church family there also.

Edie was employed in various positions, but the ones that brought her the most joy were being a caretaker to many elderly people, caring for one woman in her home for six years. She gave of herself unselfishly whenever she saw a need.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Vicki C. Duncan (Terry) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Tim D. Burrows (Kim) of Rockport, W.Va. and Deidra R. Dent (Chuck) of Teays Valley, W.Va.; seven precious grandchildren, Tiffani Weaver, Troy Duncan, Wesley D. Burrows, Lindsey Burrows, Kalob D. Burrows and Alexandria and Victoria Den; three great-grandchildren, Brili Shay, Edee Belle and Lileigh Benae Weaver, all of whom had a special in her heart and brought much joy into her life.. also surviving are five sisters, Eva Collins of Weston, W.Va., Evelyn McCormick (Jim) of Grantsville, W.Va., Edna Schmueller (Jim) of Akron, Ohio, Pauline Jarvis of North Carolina and Neva Patterson (Ron) of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two brothers, Tom Yoak (Daisy) of Grantsville, W.Va. and Jim Yoak (Carolyn) of Flatwoods, W.Va.; mother-in-law, Evelyn Burrows of Parkersburg, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Merlene Cline, Betsy Lynch, Judy Burrows and Iva Yoak; step grandchildren, Ashley, Kendyll, Kris Villars and Eric Duncan; many nieces and nephews; one aunt, Frances Davis of Grantsville, W.Va.; and special friends, Pat Godfrey, Carolyn Sharps, Betty Dowler and the ladies of the WSCS at Calvary Memorial Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Dennis and Denzil Yoak; one sister, Sharon Frame; and a nephew, Dustin McCormick.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Pastor Rob Collins officiating. Interment will be at the Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg, W.Va. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Memorial Church, Wayside Farm Road, Parkersburg, WV 26101 or to the American Cancer Society, 3901 Briscoe Road, Parkersburg, WV 26101.

Charles A. McCarty

Charles Allan (Butch) McCarty, 66, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Saturday, January 28, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va.

He was born January 14, 1940, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Roy and Ethel Webb McCarty. He retired from Iron Workers Union 787 after 30years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15 in Parkersburg and enjoyed NASCAR and being in his garage with his three dogs, Bear, Skip and Annie.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Pyles McCarty; a stepdaughter, Cathy DeShazer of Bardstown, Ky.; two sons, David Allan McCarty of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Charles (Chuck) McCarty of Vienna, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Brandon, Michael, Krista, Chelsea, K.C. and Naudia; and one great-grandchild, Jennifer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Jack and Ralph McCarty.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Dennis Heater officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wood County Humane Society.

Betty N. Smith

Betty N. Smith, 72, of Little Hocking, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 27, 2006, at the Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.

She was born August 23, 1934, in Dardon, Tenn., a daughter of the late Buel and Berdie Reeves Carey. She was a homemaker and a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Lee Smith, whom she married March 19, 1955; two daughters, Mary Smith of Little Hocking, Ohio and Betty Hord of Missouri; one son, Bobby Ray Smith of Charleston, W.Va.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Duke of Huron, Tenn., and Brenda Rogers and Sue Wyatt, both of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; and one brother, David Carey of Granpoint, Ind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a daughter, Jane Smith.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Tatman Funeral Home in Belpre, Ohio, with Pastor Dan Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen of Belpre. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Elisiah W.W. Duley

Elisiah W.W. Duley, infant son of Phillip Duley, Sr. and Katherine Haggerty of Walker, WV, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at Women's and Children's Hospital in Charleston, WV.

He was born January 5, 2006 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, WV.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Phillip Duley, II; paternal grandparents, Marlene Duley of Parkersburg and Roy S. Duley, Sr. of Charleston, WV; maternal grandparents, Lucille and Richard Stevens of Parkersburg and George Haggerty of Petersburg, WV; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2006 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, south Parkersburg, WV. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.

Edgar Boston

Edgar Ward Boston, better known to all his friends and co-workers as Boston or 'Doc', of Vienna, WV died Friday, January 27, 2006 at his home following a long battle with double pneumonia, COPD and Parkinson's disease.

He was born August 2, 1923 in Elizabeth, WV, a son of the late John and Fern Adams Boston. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Edgar served in World War II in the Infantry Division and saw service in Normandy and Germany. Staff Sergeant Boston served five years in the Air Force stationed at Wright Patterson in Dayton, Ohio. He was trained as a medical laboratory specialist and worked at the base. He retired after 32 years of service from Community Hospital in Springfield, Ohio, where he was in charge of the Histology Department. Ed was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church on Rosemar Road, Parkersburg.

Surviving is his loving wife and caregiver of 35 years, Winifred Kuhl Boston; step-daughter, Diane and her husband, Willis Hughes, of Vienna, WV; step-grandson, Roger Hughes and his wife Denise, of Parkersburg, WV; quadruplet step great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Hailey, Paige and Joshua; a brother, Paul Boston of Vienna, WV; and a sister, Madeline and her husband, Glen Coe, of Vienna, WV. He is also survived by nieces, Sharrel and her husband, Dr. Frank McGrew, III, of Memphis, TN, Judy and her husband, Ron Fertile, of Parkersburg, WV, and Carol Sue and her husband, Robert Griffiths, of Vienna, WV; and a nephew, Lloyd Earl, Jr. of Mineral Wells, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann; two brothers, Harold and Lloyd Earl; a nephew, Bill 'Butch' Boston; a stepson, Gary W. Eagle; and a step-grandson, Rodney W. Hughes.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2006 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with the Reverend J. David Easter officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen South Cemetery with full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family request memorials be made to Hospice or the charity of donor's choice.

Fay D. Morehead

Fay D. Morehead, 84, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va.

She was born May 21, 1921, in St. Albans, W.Va., a daughter of the late Elmer and Arlie Sovine Davis. She retired from Johns-Manville after several years of service. She was an avid reader and enjoyed all sports.

Fay is survived by her two sons, Harold V. (Tyke) Morehead and his wife, Vera, of Washington, W.Va., and Gary D. Morehead and his friend, Mary Kincaid, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Shirley McComas of Palm Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold J. Morehead; twin infant daughters; one brother; and two sisters. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. with Pastor Jamie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen North Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today and until time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Creed C. McCauley

Creed Corder McCauley, 82, of Mineral Wells, W.Va. died January 24, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of the late David E. and Blanche Lambert McCauley. He worked for American Viscose Corporation for over 34 years and for the W.Va. Department of Highways. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of First Sams Creek Baptist, a member of Laborers Local 1085, Mt. Olivet Lodge 3 AF&AM;, where he was past master, and a member of Parkersburg Nemesis Shrine.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wilma Poling McCauley; two sons, Creed Michael McCauley and Howard P. McCauley, both of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; a daughter, Barbara Fluharty of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two sisters, Beulah Radcliff and Laura Radcliff, both of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dee Cross.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma Jean McCauley; a brother, David McCauley; and a sister, Juanita Dailey.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va., with the Rev. Carl Radcliff officiating. Burial will be in Big Tygart Cemetery with Masonic Rites by Mt. Olivet Lodge 3 AF&AM; and military rites by American Legion Post 15. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Joseph H. Lambert

Joseph Hoffman Lambert, age 75, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away January 24, 2006 at the Willows Nursing Facility after an extended stroke related illness. He was born November 14, 1930 on the Lambert family farm in Mineral Wells, W.Va., a son of the late Harry L. and Mary W. Hoffman Lambert and was proud to have grown up as a 'Southsider'.

He graduated from Parkersburg High School where he was a member of the Big Red Marching Band; he was also a member of the South Parkersburg Volunteer Fire Department, a U. S. Army Veteran having served in Berlin, Germany as a Corporal with the 6th Inf. Regt Medical Company where he began his medic and mortician schooling; and was a member of Grace Gospel Church in Pettyville, W.Va.. Joe will be remembered as a servant-leader in his community, a devoted father and grandfather, and an inspiration to his family and friends.

Joe started a career in funeral service in 1945 in the Parkersburg area. After serving in the United States Army he continued in funeral service until 1963 when he purchased a monument company serving Parkersburg, Marietta, Pennsboro and surrounding counties. In 1990 he returned to his love of funeral service and founded the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Homes of Parkersburg, Vienna and south Parkersburg where he instilled in his family, directors and staff his dream and goal of providing families of our community with reasonable and dignified funeral service.

Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilma M. Howard Lambert; one son H. Brent Lambert and his wife Julie of Belpre and one daughter Becky Valentine and her husband Pastor Tim Valentine of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters Anna Pepper of Parkersburg, W.Va., and his twin sister Josephine Tatman and her husband Gordon of Newark, OH; mother-in-law Clara Howard; sister-in-law Jo Claire Lambert of Vienna, W.Va.; 5 grandchildren Bradley J. Lambert and his wife Sunny, Andrew L. Lambert and his wife Tonia, Minda J. Templeton and her husband Jack, Paul D. Valentine and his wife Carrie and Daniel J. Valentine, and 7 great grandchildren, and several special nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Emily Jo Valentine; two brothers Harry L. Lambert, Jr., Thomas L. Lambert and one infant sister.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 28, 2006 at Grace Gospel Church in Pettyville at 11:00 with Pastors Mike Allen, Tim Valentine and Bill Angel officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Mineral Wells, W.Va.. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green St. Parkersburg and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. The family requests that donations be made in Joe's memory to the Grace Gospel Church Missions Fund, Rt. 5 Box 440 Parkersburg, W.Va. 26101 or the Charity of Donors choice.
