Vera L. Board, 81, of the Sugar Camp Community
of Mineral Wells, passed away Sunday, April
13, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 4, 1933, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Rudy L. Tennant and
Waneta Eaton Tennant.
Vera retired from Value City Furniture and had
been employed with Renmare and Misty
Manufacturing. She loved the family vacations
to the beach, NASCAR racing, cookouts,
fishing, gardening, canning and spending time
with family and friends.
Surviving is her husband, Opie D. "Dick"
Board; one son, Larry Board of Mineral Wells;
and two daughters, Beverly "Sue" (Ed) Boice
and Nancy L. VanMeter, both of Mineral Wells;
and three precious grandchildren that were her
pride and joy. She loved spending time with
them, Skyler Boice, Brett VanMeter and Chase
VanMeter; five brothers, Blaine (Ruby) Tennant
of Rockport, Larry Tennant of Mineral Wells,
Victor (Billie) Tennant of Parkersburg,
Richard (Margaret) Tennant of Mineral Wells
and Gary Tennant of Mineral Wells; and two
sisters, Ruth (Paul) Lemon of Mineral Wells
and Wanda Snider of Davisville. Also surviving
is a brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Board; a
sister-in-law, Maxine Clark; and several
nieces and nephews. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by a
sister, Elsie Simmons.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, April 16, at Kimes Funeral Home,
521 5th Street, Parkersburg. Rev. Jeff
Mayfield will officiate and burial will follow
at Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will
be from 2-8 p.m. today.
The family would like to express their thanks
to Housecalls Hospice, Missy and Pat and all
others that helped with her family to care for
her.
Harold Smith Mills
Wadesville, WV
Harold Smith Mills, 95, of the Wadesville
Community, passed away on Sunday, April 13,
2014, at the Willows Nursing Center.
He was born Oct. 30, 1918, at Belleville, a
son of the late Thomas Mills and Ethel Charity
Smith Mills Hoffman.
Harold was a long time member of the
Wadesville Church of Christ and a current
member of the Hopewell Church of Christ. He
retired from Ames with 41 years of service and
was a Farmer. He had served in the United
States Navy from 1943 to 1946, and was a
recipient of the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the
American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
Harold had also been a member of the Farm
Bureau.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Roxanna
Mills of Wadesville and Frances E. (George)
Scott of Ravenswood; one son, John T. (Wanda)
Mills of Washington, W.Va.; four
grandchildren, Terry (Larry) Murphy of St.
Marys, Kristine (Dale) Durst of Charleston,
S.C., Penny (Kevin) Weekley of Lubeck and
Angela (Rich) Rule of Vienna; and 9 great-
grandchildren, Jeremy Harold Squires,
Catherine Estelle Squires, Lauren Taylor
Durst, Tyler Dale Durst, Tanner Lee Durst,
Emily Danielle Weekley, Ryan J. Weekley,
Taylor Mae Rule and Summer F. Rule. Also
surviving are two nieces and a nephew. In
addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Estella Carothers Mills in
1993; a brother, Leroy Mills; and two sisters,
Florence Vandermeyden and Mary Ethel Mahoney.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.
Thursday, April 17, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
5th Street, Parkersburg. Evangelists Randy
Baker and Doug Petty will officiate and burial will follow at the Wadesville Cemetery. The
visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
Wednesday, April 16. Military rites will be
conducted at the funeral home also on Thursday
by the American Legion Post #15 of Parkersburg.
Bernard Riddle
Walker, WV
Bernard Gene Riddle 80 of Walker formerly of
Laurel, MD. passed away April 10, 2014 at
Worthington Manor.
He was born October 28, 1933 in Grantsville a
son of the late Willie Paul and Hazel Wilmoth
Riddle.
Bernard attended Calhoun County Schools and
had served in the United States Army from 1955-
1964.
In Laurel, Bernard owned and operated The
Riddle Excavating Company.
He was an avid Equestrian since childhood and
was a lisenced Trainer for Thoroughbred Race
Horses. He loved the Outdoors and in earlier
years, he liked to go Fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years,
Barbara Misenhiemer Riddle of Walker and his
daughter, Pamela Jean Riddle (Samuel "Sam"
Meyers) of Vienna. 5 sisters, Louise Riddle
Breeden (Tom) of Boyds, MD., Lois Riddle
Johnson of Walker, Catherine Riddle Hupp of
Elizabeth, Pansy Riddle Civitello (Clarence)
of Parkersburg and Janet Riddle Johnson
(Steve) of Rockport and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a brother, Marion Paul Riddle and a
sister, Hope Batson.
There will be no funeral service. However
there will be visitation with viewing from 2-4
& 6-8 PM on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Kimes
Funeral Home, 521 5th Street Parkersburg.
Cremation will follow and his ashes will be
interred at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Calhoun
County at the convenience of the family
Ruth Eileen McPherson
Parkersburg, WV
Ruth Eileen McPherson, 83, of Parkersburg,
passed away April 6, 2014, at the Willows
Center.
She was born Feb. 18, 1931, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Ora Denzel and Violet
Armenia Holleron Orem.
Eileen had formerly attended the 7th Street
United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker,
enjoyed reading and was an avid area tennis
player.
Surviving is her husband, Samuel A. McPherson
Jr.; one son, Samuel A. (Peggy) McPherson III
of Williamsport, Md.; one daughter, Stephanie
McPherson (Joey) Chambers of St. Petersburg,
Fla.; four grandchildren, Ashley McPherson,
Courtland Chambers, Cammeron Chambers and
Conner Chambers; one sister, Clarestine Smith
of Sandyville, W.Va.
There will be no service and no visitation.
Memorial donations may be made to the Charity
of the Donor's Choice.

Raymond Francis Marshall
Parkersburg, WV
Raymond Francis Marshall, 83, of Parkersburg,
passed away April 6, 2014, at Camden Clark
Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Wood County, a
son of the late Frank and Georgia Leisure
Marshall.
Raymond was a graduate of PHS, had served in
the Unites States Air Force and was a member
of the Calvary Community Church in Belpre,
where he sang in the church choir. He retired
from the U.S. Bureau of the Public Debt as
Manager. He and his wife enjoyed going to the
mountains and the beach.
Surviving are two sons, Phillip "Phil"
Marshall of Indianapolis and Steven R. (Paula)
Marshall of Parkersburg; one daughter,
Kimberly Marshall Combs of Indianapolis; five
grandchildren, Haley and Steven Marshall, both
of Parkersburg, Julie (Charles) Fields,
Courtney (Donald) Baird and Andrew (Lacey)
Combs, all of Indianapolis; one great-
grandson, Grayden A. Combs; one brother,
Robert Marshall of Davisville; and several
nieces and nephews. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,
Barbara Modesitt Marshall in 2002; three
brothers, George, Bud and Jack Marshall; and
three sisters, Florence Stonestreet, Frankie
Marshall and Pat Hayes.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday, April 12, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
5th Street, Parkersburg. Pastor Ken Fullerton
will officiate and burial will follow at the
Kanawha Baptist Cemetery on Route 47. The
visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April
11.
Joyce Ann Lipitz
Parkersburg, Wv
Joyce Ann (Bryant) Lipitz, 55, of Parkersburg,
passed away April 1, 2014 at her home.
She was born Oct. 19, 1958 in Wood County, a
daughter of Lena R. Miller Bryant of Belpre
and the late Garland L. Bryant.
Joyce was a graduate of PSHS, had attended the
Hockingport Christian Center and she was a
former employee of the Belpre Speedway.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by
her daughter, Cassandra (Scott) Perry of
Cincinnati and her son, Larry (Jesse) Cottrell
of Parkersburg. one brother, Alan Bryant of
Barlow and her sister, Cheryl Bryant of
Belpre; three nieces, Melisa McHenry, Lindsey
Shank and Rachel Ketterman, six great nieces,
two great nephews and her companion, Ronnie
Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Milton Lipitz of Delray Beach, Florida.
There will be a memorial service held at 2
p.m. Friday at the Hockingport Christian
Center, on Broadway Street, Hockingport,
Reverend Deborah Cain will officiate.

to help offset the cost of final expenses or
to the Strecker Cancer Center, 400 Matthew
Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750.
