Foster Ardith Vannoy Sr., 75, of Parkersburg,
passed away April 11, 2013, at his home.
He was born Dec. 3, 1937, at Stumptown in
Gilmer County, a son of the late Ardith Vannoy
and Mary Parsons Vannoy Hart. Mr. Vannoy was a
graduate of Parkersburg High School and was
retired from The General Glass Company. He was
a member of the Bible Baptist Church and
former member of Narrowgate Baptist Church. He
enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving is his wife, Linda Lemley Vannoy;
two sons, Foster (Kathy) Vannoy Jr. of
Parkersburg and Kevin (Diana) Vannoy of
Davisville; two daughters, Tamara (Nathan)
Brand of Parkersburg and Susan (Thomas) Semon
of Waverly; 10 grandchildren; seven great-
grandchildren; and three half sisters, Sandy,
Debbie and Jenny. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth
Vannoy.
There will be no formal ceremony; however,
there will be visitation 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
today at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg.
Mary Louise Moreland Young
Walker, WV
Mary Louise Moreland Young, 86, of Walker,
W.Va., passed away April 9, 2013, at Camden
Clark Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 8, 1927 in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Short and Lula Marshall
Moreland.
Mary Louise was a member of the Cairo Big Run
Independent EUB Church. She was a homemaker
and had retired from Walker-Parkersburg.
She enjoyed attending church services and
revivals, gardening and enjoyed making pickles
and sharing them with friends and relatives.
Surviving is her daughter-in-law, Gracie Young
of Newark, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jennifer
(Cary) Hock, of Granville, Ohio, Tonya Kidner
of Newnan, Ga. and Kevin (Suzanne) Young of
Newark; six great-grandchildren, Terran,
Taylor, Britney, Kadin, Emma and Allison; one
brother, Karl (June) Moreland of Deerwalk and
one sister, Jeanne Dye of Mineral Wells and
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Olley French Young in
2007; her son, Larry Young in 2012; a
daughter, Sandra Nutter; a baby grandson, a
brother, Herman "Jack" and three sisters,
Ruth, Geneva and Betty Lou.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor Doug Guinn will officiate
and burial will follow at the Skidmore
Cemetery.
The visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and
6-8 p.m.
Ted Snider
Belpre, OH
Theodore (Ted) Edwin Snider, 81, of Belpre,
passed away April 4, 2013, at Harmar Place.
Ted was born Nov. 12, 1931, at Parkersburg, a
son of the late Edwin and Marie Florence
Snider. He had retired from Elkem Metal, was a
member of the Friendship Ridge Christian
Fellowship Church, Marietta I.O.O.F. #67, and
the Marietta Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include three sons, Michael (Debbie)
Snider of Reno, Ohio, Stephen (Kelly) Snider
of Belpre, and Tim (Kim) Snider of Little
Hocking; and three daughters, Linda (Rick)
Nuhfer of Williamstown, Dianne Robinson of
Belpre, and Stacie Snider of Athens. Also
surviving is one brother, James (Pat) Snider
of Belpre; one sister, Inez (Steve) Vekich of
Marietta; eight grandchildren; 13 great-
grandchildren; a dear friend, Karen Hathaway;
and his fur babies, 'Sassie', 'Nekah', 'Paige'
and 'Smurf'. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by his wife,
Florence 'Jean' Hickenbottom Snider in 2011.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor David Ellenwood
officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. The family will receive
visitors 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the
funeral home, and one hour prior to services
Monday. I.O.O.F. Memorial services by Marietta
Lodge #67 will be held 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the
funeral home.
Memorial donations should be made to the
Parkersburg Humane Society or charity of your
choice in Ted's name.
Peggy Eloise Morris
Parkersburg, WV
Peggy Eloise Morris, 73, of Parkersburg,
passed away April 1, 2013, at the Cleveland
Clinic.
She was born Aug. 12, 1939, at Rockport, a
daughter of the late Gilmore Everett and Dora
Mae Clegg Buchanan.
Peggy was a member of the North Parkersburg
Baptist Church, the American Legion and the
VFW.
She enjoyed fishing and was an animal lover
and had a special pet dog named Diamond.
Surviving is her son, Brian Dale (Cheryl)
Grogan of
Parkersburg and her daughter, Deborah Kay
(Dave) Garrett of Dover, Ohio; seven
grandchildren, Chad (Derena) Garrett, Joshua
(Kendra) Garrett, Junelle Garrett, Stephanie
(Craig) Sopata, Charis Grogan, Carter Grogan
and Kyle Grogan; seven great-grandchildren,
Akaysia, Brenton, Olyvia and Madelyn Garrett,
Sophia Sopata, Brendon Grogan and Jordan
Garrett; two brothers, James (Cheryl) Buchanan
of Mt. Giliad, Ohio and Gary Wayne (Linda)
Buchanan of Creston, W.Va.; one sister, Nancy
Grace (Ira) Kimes of Parkersburg and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Carl Neil Morris, in
1998.
There will be visitation on Saturday from 2-4
and 6-8 p.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg, with a brief service with
family members speaking beginning at 8 p.m.
Burial of her ashes will be at a later date at
the Stoney Bottom Cemetery in Pocahontas
County.
The family would like to express thanks to the
nursing staff at Camden Clark Medical Center,
St. Joseph's Campus and to Dr. William
Cartwright for the care shown to Peggy during
her sickness.
Helen J. (Nanny) Postelwaite
Parkersburg, WV
Helen J. 'Nanny' Postelwaite, 82, of
Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Sunday,
March 24, 2013, at Heartland in Marietta, Ohio.
She was born July 31, 1930, in Gay, W.Va., a
daughter of the late Earl and Blanche Houchen.
She married James R. Postelwaite on July 5,
1949. He preceded her in death on April 21,
2011. They had been married for 61 years. She
was a retired beautician, having last worked
at the JC Penney Styling salon. She had also
worked at Dils Department Store. She graduated
from Parkersburg High School and Valley Beauty
School. She was a long-time member of St.
Francis Xavier Church in Parkersburg. She
assisted with Catholicism (RCIA) classes,
having been a sponsor to those wishing to join
the church.
She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed
flowers, crocheting, quilting and bird
watching. She also enjoyed spending time with
her grandchildren. From April 2011 until July
2012, she had lived in Marietta with her
oldest granddaughter, Michelle, and her
partner, Ed. While with Michelle, she loved
going to Wal-Mart and eating out. She also
loved her dogs, Penny, Reggie, Maggie and
Molly. They will continue to reside with and
be cared for by Michelle and Ed, as per her
wishes.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl
(David) Parker of Marietta, and Debra (Mark)
Wells of Parkersburg; her grandchildren,
Michelle Norman (Ed Moon) of Marietta, Kim
(Jim) Harmon of North Carolina, Kelly (Stuart)
Gobel of Parkersburg, and Brooke (Sam) Helms
of North Carolina; step-granddaughter,
Samantha (Nick) Bradley of Parkersburg; her
great-grandchildren, Olivia Dawson, Katelin
and Garrett Harmon and Colten and Lila Helms;
step-great-grandchildren, Lucy and Luke
Bradley; her niece, Joanna Dee Adkins; great-
niece, Brittany Stanley; a special sister-in-
law, Marcia (Bob) Callahan of Florida; and
brother-in-law, Johnny Woodyard of Indiana. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband; and sister, Regina
Adkins. She was also preceded in death by her
rescue dog, Molly, in Dec. 2012.
The family would like to thank Drs. Bob-Paul
(Erdelyi) and Eva Giro, along with their staff
at Marietta Memorial Hospital. The family
would also like to thank the staff at Emeritus
of Marietta and Heartland of Marietta. The
excellent care and compassion these
individuals provided was greatly appreciated.
The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m.
today at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Deacon Doug Deem will officiate,
and entombment will follow at the Mt. Carmel
Cemetery. The family will receive friends noon
until time of service today.
