William Woodrow "Bill" Lowther Jr., 49, of
Parkersburg, passed away April 12, 2011, at his
home.
He was born Aug. 18, 1961 in Parkersburg, a son
of Peggy Husk Lowther of Parkersburg and the
late William W. Lowther Sr.
Bill had worked as a hair stylist in Boca
Raton, Fla.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by
three sisters, Melissa Waites and Christina
Kelley, both of Lancaster, Ohio and Velvet
Darlene Dulaney of Parkersburg; nieces and
nephews, Scott Kelley, Brandon Zelma, Colleen
Fleming, Jessica Shuman and Tracy Pillow; and
dear friend, Norman Artz of Boca Raton.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in
death by a brother, Jim Lowther; his paternal
grandparents, Woodrow and Mary Louise Lowther
and his maternal grandparents, Floyd and
Mildred Husk.
A memorial graveside service is being planned
at Evergreen North Cemetery and will be
announced by Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation
Services of Parkersburg.
Dorsel "Gene" Palmer
Williamstown, WV
Dorsel "Gene" Palmer, age 78, of Williamstown,
passed away March 29, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 25, 1933 in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Joseph and Beatrice Rowley
Palmer.
He served with the U.S. Army, Combat
Engineers, was an Eagle Scout, member of the
Order of the Arrow and the Parkersburg South
Athletic Boosters.
He was a member of the Lubeck United Methodist
Church and had attended Williamstown Baptist
Church since moving to that area and he
retired from E.I. Dupont, Washington Works.
Surviving are two sons, David (Christina)
Palmer and Robert (Lisa) Palmer, all of
Williamstown; four granddaughters, Kristin
Baldyga, Alison Palmer, Sydney Palmer and Cala
Palmer; one grandson, Joshua Palmer; a
stepgrandson, Matthew Bush; one great-
granddaughter, Reese Baldyga; one brother,
Kenneth Palmer of Tucson, Ariz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Beverly Eileen Sheppard
Palmer; their daughter, Jenny Sue Palmer; a
grandson, Michael David Palmer; two sisters,
Vauda Delores Palmer and Vesta Cooper.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor Mike Horner will officiate
and burial will follow at Sunset Memory
Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-
8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service
on Friday.

John Edwad Cox
Mineral Wells (Pettyville), WV
John Edward Cox, 78, of Mineral Wells
(Pettyville), passed away March 25, 2011, at
Eagle Pointe Nursing Home. He was born May 17,
1932, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Roy E.
and Lorie May Flesher Cox. He was a 1950
graduate of Parkersburg High School, had
served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 and
retired from Corning Glass Works with 37 years
of service. He was affiliated with Trinity
United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Earlene
Lemon Cox; one sister, Ruth Ann (Clyde) Yoho
of Parkersburg; two nephews, Wayne (Nina) Yoho
of Williamstown and Marvin (Joyce) Yoho of
Waverly; one niece, Theda Joanne (Gene) Ramsey
of Washington, W.Va.; three great-nephews,
Levi Yoho with the USMC, Bryan and Michael
Ramsey of Washington, W.Va.; three great-
nieces, Laura Yoho of Pittsville, Md., Kelly
Jo Barnett of McGuire AFB, N.J. and Holli
Bartlett of Belpre; brother-in-law, Jerry
Lemon of Davisville; sisters-in-law, Shirley
(Bob) Vandergrift of Shiloh, Ohio, Janice
Anderson of Parkersburg and Linda Lemon of
Belleville; and several other nieces and
nephews.
The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg. Pastor David Stilgenbauer will
officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen
North Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m.
Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday.
Edward Russell Jones
Parkersburg, WV
Edward Russell Jones, 70, of Eagle Pointe,
Parkersburg, passed away March 25, 2011, at
Camden Clark Medical Center, St. Joseph's
Campus following an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 20, 1941 in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Harold and Margaret (Ellis)
Jones.
He retired from E.I. Dupont with 30 years of
service and was affiliated with the Jehovah's
Witnesses.
Surviving is a brother, Joseph Louis (Joyce)
Jones of Little Hocking; and two sisters,
Letitia (Jay) Reid of Belpre, Ohio, and Rose
Payne of Apopka, Fla.; a brother-in-law,
Robert Turner of Parkersburg; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and
four sisters.
There will be memorial service held Saturday,
2 p.m., at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Elder Buddy Robinson will
officiate. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memory
Gardens.
Craig D Cross
Stoney Point, NC
Craig D. Cross, "Outlaw, " 58, of Stoney Point,
N.C., passed away at the home of his brother,
Roger, in Cutler, Ohio, following a courageous
battle with cancer.
He was born March 4, 1953, to Ruth Baughan and
the late Robert Cross Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy, who resides
in North Carolina. Craig had four children,
Shawnna (Christopher) Novoa of Kingsbay, Ga.,
Candy Cross of Pettyville, W.Va., Craig
(Kristin) Cross of St. Marys, Ga., and Kevin
Cross of Pettyville. His 10 grandchildren were
the light of his life, Colten, Coriona,
Skylar, Elijah, Arianna, Austin, Shailyn,
Hunter, Alexia and Ryan. He was also a great-
grandfather to Savannah and Brooklyn.
There was a niece he was particularly close
to, Samanatha Cross. The other nieces and
nephews he loved dearly are Bryan, Adam, Luke,
Amber, RD, Bobby Jean, Meagen, Shalyn and
Joshua.
Craig loved all of his family. He had two
brothers, Roger (Nanette) Cross and Jamie
(Elisha) Cross; a sister, Jodi (Roger) Hodges;
and a sister-in-law, Carrie Cross.
He loved being out in the country, camping and
riding four-wheelers.
He was preceded in death by his beloved
grandmother, Anna Hazel Lenox; father, Robert
Doyle Cross Sr.; and brother, Robert D. Cross
Jr.
Memorial donations should be made to the care
of Nanette Cross to assist with memorial
expenses. Kimes Funeral Home and Cremation

Roger Edward Harding
Calhoun County, WV
Roger Edward Harding, 56, of Calhoun County
died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at home with his
family by his side.
He was born in Providence, R.I. on Jan. 1,
1955, and was a truck driver for 30 years.
He was the husband of Jony, father of Megan,
Tiffany, Mandy Harding, Nicole Borst, and
Joseph Davidoski.
He is also survived by his stepmother, Beverly
P. Harding; brothers, David, Ronald, Raymond,
Eddie, Raymond, Jr. Harding, and one sister,
Beverly Harding. He is also survived by five
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving
parents, Raymond and Ann Rodi Harding; four
brothers and two children.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday,
April 9, 1 p.m., at Kimes Funeral Home &
Cremation Services, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. There will also be a Celebration
of Life held at Cremo Community Church in
Creston, W.Va. at a later date.
