Josephine (JoAnn Fitzwater) Caplinger, 65, of
Parkersburg, went home to be with the Lord on
March 4, 2010.
She was born in Parkersburg Feb. 12, 1945, a
daughter of the late Amos A. and Mable D.
Davis Morris. She was a very loving mother and
had worked at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include three sons, Paul D.
Caplinger, Monty C. Caplinger Jr. and Jeffrey
A. Caplinger Sr. and wife, Misty D. Caplinger;
one daughter, Annetta L. Caplinger (Gorden
Kuehn); several grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; two sisters, Betty J. Morris
Bennett and Garnet C. Morris; and many nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Monty C. Caplinger
Sr.; brothers, Aubrey, Dave and Phil Morris,
and sisters, Margaret DeMasters, Kathryn McGee
and Alma Leslie Buskirk and a granddaughter,
Kayla A. Caplinger.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m.
Monday at Kimes Funeral Home, Pastor Jerry
Caplinger will officiate and burial will
follow at the Wood County Cemetery at Cedar
Grove. The visitation will be on Sunday from 5-
8 p.m.
Franklin Eugene (Frank) Shepard
Parkersburg, WV
Franklin Eugene "Frank" Shepard, 54, of
Parkersburg, passed away March 3, 2010, at St.
Joseph's Hospital.
He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late
Robert C. and Shirley Dotson Shepard.
He has been employed with the Airtight
Construction Company for the past 25 years. He
had served in the United States Army and he
enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are sons, Shane Franklin Shepard of
Vienna, Jason Kirby of Florida, Kyle
Vandergrift of Parkersburg and Doug
Vandergrift of Parkersburg, and currently
serving with the U.S. Army stationed at
Colorado Springs; one grandson, Skyler Sines
of Parkersburg; one brother, Fobert D. Shepard
of Florence, Colo.; two sisters,
Katherine "Kathy" Casto of Little Hocking and
Barbara L. Shepard of Fresno, Calif.; nephews,
Robert Brandon Stewart and Daniel Murphy, and
a niece, Brook Proffitt.
Cremation arrangements are being provided by
Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
John A. (Jack) See
Parkersburg, WV
John A. "Jack" See, 83, of Briscoe Road,
Parkersburg, passed away March 2, 2010, at St.
Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg.
He was born Oct. 24, 1926 in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Gilbert G. and Mildred
Barnette See.
Jack was a January 1944 graduate of
Parkersburg High School and attended Freed-
Hardeman University. He was a World War II
veteran, with the Naval Entertainment Unit,
USNTC, Samson, N.Y. and abroad with the
destroyer, USS Radford.
He was a Radio-TV pioneer in West Virginia as
announcer with station WPAR in 1943 and at
WSAZ in Huntington. He was on the original
staff of station WCOM, Parkersburg as Program
Director and also on the original staff of
WTAP-TV as News Director.
He worked at Channel 12, WBOY-TV/Radio in
Clarksburg as Program Director of WBOY Radio
and News/Anchor and Weather Man for WBOY-TV.
He returned to Parkersburg as Program Director
at WTAP-TV and was associated with other radio
stations in the Parkersburg/Marietta area. He
retired from Clear Channel Radio in 2005.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Judy) See of
Wellsville, Ohio and Richard M. See of
Washington, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Nathan
See, Jackie (Trevor) Fawley, Scott (Jeannie)
See, John M. (Tara) See and Ryan See; four
great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter;
and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Carlene Blair See; a son,
John D. See and a brother, Dick See.
There will be a service of Remembrance held 1
p.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor John Barker
assisting. The family will receive friends
beginning at noon on Friday at the funeral
home.
Memorial donations may be directed to the
Alzheimer's Association.
William H. "Bill" Thompson
Rt 1 Elizabeth (Rockport area), WV
William H. "Bill" Thompson Sr., 89, of Route 1
Elizabeth (Rockport area), passed away at his
home Feb. 26, 2010, and was called home to
heaven to be with his loving wife of 58 years,
Vera Lavinia (Seals) Thompson.
He was born at Rockport on Aug. 31, 1920, a
son of the late Homer M. and Missouri L.
(Young) Thompson.
He was a longtime farmer and attended the Mt.
Hope Church.
He is survived by five sons, Lawrence Thompson
Sr., Darrell Thompson and William H. "Bill"
Thompson Jr., all of Elizabeth, Harlin (Betty)
Thompson of Ravenswood and Kenneth (Janet)
Thompson of Mineral Wells; two daughters,
Blenda (David) Deem of Indiana and Wanda
(Brian) Caltrider of Mineral Wells; two
brothers; seven sisters; 16 grandchildren; 29
great-grandchildren; nine great-great-
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he
was preceded in death by a son, Robert
Wayne "Bob" Thompson; a grandson, Larry Dale
Thompson; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann
(Hale) Thompson.
The funeral service will be Monday at noon at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with his son-in-law, the Rev.
David Deem officiating. Burial will follow at
Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be
today from 2-8 p.m.
Grant Leslie Queen Jr. (Butchie)
Parkersburg, WV
Grant Leslie Queen Jr., 62, of Parkersburg,
went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb.
23, 2010, from the Willows Center.
He was born Oct. 20, 1947 in Parkersburg to
the late Ruby Leasure Queen (1997) and Grant
L. Queen Sr. (1994). He was the last of his
family. He lost his sister Elizabeth Lambert
in October of 1979 and his sister
Wilhelmina "Billie" Queen in 2000.
Grant leaves behind his guardian and cousin,
Patricia Paintiff, (Randy Goodwin); cousins,
Loretta Paintiff Ferguson and family and
Diedra Wells Burdette and family. Also Gina
Belcher, Lisa Curkendall, Judy Thorn, Denise
Clay, Liza Lamb, Karla Kidder, all his Gihon
Girls, Missy Sellers, Betty Vaughn and his
girlfriend, Sandy Beckner.
Butch was a very special guy; he was loved by
those who knew him well and will be sadly
missed by many friends.

Memorial Hospital.
There will be a service of remembrance Friday,
1 p.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg. Burial will follow at

Isabella V. Samples Jones Young
Fayetteville, PA
Isabella V. Samples Jones Young, 88, of
Fayetteville, Pa., formerly of the Parkersburg
area, passed away Feb. 20, 2010 at the Manor
Care Nursing Home at Chambersburg, Pa.
She was born Oct. 29, 1921 at Pullman, W.Va.,
a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Cottrill
Samples.
She was a member of the First Nazarene Church
in Parkersburg and attended the Cavalry United
Methodist Church at Fayetteville, Pa.
She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker
and had been, at one time, employed at Vera's
Lunch in Belpre.
Surviving are three sons, Donald Jones of
Belpre, Gerald Jones of Little Hocking, Ohio
and Charles Jones (Susan) of Fayetteville,
Pa.; two daughters, Madeline Barker (Billy) of
Washington, W.Va. and Judy Kragness of
Parkersburg; one stepson; four stepdaughters;
19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; one brother,
Clifton Samples of Pullman, W.Va.; one sister,
Agnes Simmons of St. Marys, W.Va.; and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her first husband, Guy R. Jones;
her second husband, Berchel Lee Young; two
sons, Larry Jones and James Jones; and a
daughter, Alice Collins.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
St., Parkersburg. The Rev. Frank Miller will
officiate and burial will follow at the Cabin
Run Cemetery in Doddridge County. The
visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and one
hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Following the burial, there will be a meal
provided for the family and friends at Comfort
Inn in Parkersburg (behind Red Lobster on
Grand Central Avenue.)
