Robert Glen Lyons, 67, of Parkersburg, passed
away April 23, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late
George and Edna Givens Lyons.
He was a loving family man who along with his
family, loved fishing and admired antique cars.
Surviving is a brother, Leroy (Carla) Lyons
Sr., in Arizona; and a sister, Audrey (Gene)
Sullivan of Ravenswood; niece and nephews,
Carol Moore of Caldwell; Scott (Sara) Lyons and
Leroy Lyons Jr., all of Parkersburg; three
great-nieces and nephews; and many other
extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances
Miller Lyons; and a brother, Francis Lyons.
The funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg. Pastor Ray Seebaugh will officiate
and burial will follow at the Wood County
Cemetery. The visitation will be from 5-8 p.m.
on Monday.
Nina Fern Lucas
Parkersburg, WV
Nina Fern Lucas, 87, of Parkersburg, passed
away April 19, 2010, at the Parkersburg Care &
Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Dec. 18, 1922 at Washington,
W.Va., daughter of the late Thomas Hayman and
Emma May Bartlett Lucas.
Fern was a longtime member of Trinity United
Methodist Church and the United Methodist
Women and she had retired with 33 years of
service with Dils Brothers Department Store,
Shoe Department.
Surviving is a brother, W. Ken (Helen) Lucas
of Parkersburg; two sisters, Freda Lucas and
Fay Snider, both of Parkersburg; and numerous
nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and
great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by brothers, Thomas O. Lucas, James
Earl Lucas and Ira Elden Lucas; one sister,
Opal R. Lucas Haugh; and a nephew, Thomas
Lucas.
There will be a memorial service held 11 a.m.
Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church,
at 10th Avenue and Thomas Street in south
Parkersburg. Rev. David Stilgenbauer will
officiate and Steve Kimes will serve as
organist. The family will receive friends
beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Immediately following the service, there will
be a lunch served for friends and relatives at
the Trinity Fellowship Hall located adjacent
to the church.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory
of Fern to the Parkersburg Humane Society.

Deanna Lea Starcher Sorge
Seymour, TN
Deanna Lea Starcher Sorge, 52, of Seymour,
Tenn., passed away April 16, 2010, at the
University of Knoxville Tennessee Medical
Center.
She was born Dec. 2, 1957 in Parkersburg, a
daughter of Janet Wright Starcher of
Parkersburg and the late Foster Starcher.
Deanna worked as the Director of Sales &
Marketing at the Thai Thani Restaurant at
Pigeon Forge, Tenn. She was a member of Rotary
International of Pigeon Forge and was a member
of the National Tour Association and the
National Bus Association.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by
her husband, David Sorge of Seymour, Tenn.;
one brother, Larry (Beth) Starcher of
Parkersburg.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in
death by a brother, Gregory Starcher, and her
grandparents.
There will be a memorial service held 2 p.m.
Saturday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg. Evangelist John W.
Rockhold III will officiate. Inurnment will be
at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral
home beginning at noon Saturday.
Martha Elnora Cale
Parkersburg, WV
Martha Elnora Cale, 85, of Hope Hill Road,
Parkersburg, passed away Thursday, April 15,
2010, at the St. Francis Hospital in
Charleston.
She was born Sept. 11, 1924, at Beaver, Pa., a
daughter of the late Alfred and Dora Ice Smith.
She was a member of both the Big Tygart and
the Gihon United Methodist Churches. She had
been employed with Yonkers Manufacturing and
the A B Chance Co. She was a member of the
United Methodist Woman and the Red Hat
Society. She enjoyed quilting and needlepoint.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond "Buster"
(Jeanne) Cale of Parkersburg and Terry (Donna)
Pepper of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Diane
(Franklin) Jones of Reedsville, Ohio; a
stepdaughter, Helen Stilgenbauer of
Parkersburg; a brother, Melvin A. "Buck"
(Jean) Smith of Salineville, Ohio; a host of
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces,
nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Walter Keever Cale; a
daughter, Joan "Cookie" Drake; a brother,
Alvie Lewis Smith; two sisters, Lindora Smith
and Norma Jean Ahmer; three stepsons, Kenneth
Cale, Leonard Cale and George W. "Bud" Cale;
and three stepdaughters, Mildred "Midge"
Sheets, Kathleen "Tot" Hitt and Mary Kirby.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Jeff Mayfield and
the Rev. James Eakle officiating and burial to
follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation
will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Charles A. Cowman
Parkersburg, WV
Charles A. Cowman, 45, of Parkersburg, passed
away Tuesday afternoon, April 13, 2010, at
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 9, 1964 in Wood County, a son
of Kay F. Coe Cowman of Parkersburg and the
late James L. Cowman.
Charles was a graduate of Belpre High School
and had worked at Crystal Cafe on Market
Street.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by
two brothers, James B. (Dianna L.) Cowman of
Little Hocking and Russell L. (Kimberly)
Cowman of Belpre; one sister, Mary L. Evans
(Marvin) of Parkersburg; two stepbrothers,
Steven (Debbie) Kerns of Little Hocking and
Mark (Tammy) Kerns of Veto, Ohio; two
stepsisters, Debbie (Joe) Robinson of Belpre
and Sherry (Rick) Dotson of Belpre; a half-
sister, Melissa Miller of Parkersburg. Also
surviving are many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in
death by his paternal grandparents, Jessie and
Edna Cowman and his maternal grandparents,
Lester and Madeline Coe.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.
Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor John Barker will officiate
and burial will follow at Parkersburg Memorial
Gardens. The visitation will be from 5-8 p.m.
