Rev. Quellen Oris "Holly" Roberts
Parkersburg, WV

The Rev. Quellen Oris "Holly" Roberts, 87, of
Parkersburg, passed away Nov. 9, 2008, at
the "Maples at Waterford Crossing" at Goshen,
Ind.

He was born at Billings, W.Va., a son of the
late Homer Virgil and Bertha Della Callow
Roberts. He was a retired minister and was
locally affiliated with the Peoples Apostolic
Church, had been a member of the Reedy Senior
Citizens, had served with the CCC Camp during
World War II and enjoyed farming.

Surviving is his wife, Lana Justine Holcolmb
Roberts; two sons, the Rev. Gary Lee (Phyllis)
Roberts of Goshen and David (Peggy) Roberts of
Parkersburg; three grandchildren, the Rev.
Ronnie Roberts, Jenny Howland and Craig
Roberts; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers,
William Roberts and Charles (Margie) Roberts,
all of Parkersburg; two sisters, Betty Boyd of
Vienna and Mary (George) Creighton of Nitro,
W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by two sisters, Juanita Roberts and
Geraldine Davis.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with his son, the Rev. Gary
Roberts, his grandson, the Rev. Ronnie
Roberts, and Pastor Ray Seebaugh will
officiate. Burial will follow at the Fairview
Cemetery at Reedy in Roane County. Visitation
will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the
funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the
Fairview Cemetery Association.

Miss Maralee Rost
Parkersburg, WV

Miss Maralee Rost, 92, of Parkersburg, passed
away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at St. Joseph's
Hospital.

She was born Dec. 12, 1915, at Three Mile,
Kanawha County, a daughter of the late Henry
C. and Cora Ava Marshall Rost. Maralee was a
graduate of Parkersburg High School, had been
an employee with the American Viscose Corp.
for 13 years, employed with Drs. Cochran and
Robinson for two years and retired from
Corning Glass Works with 27 years of service.

She has been a member of North Parkersburg
Baptist Church since she was eight years old,
where she had been a member of the Mary Bonar
Missionary Circle, the Motivators Sunday
School Class and the Heavenly Helpers.

Surviving is her sister, Mrs. Clyde (Lucille)
Eaton of Walker and Royal Palm Beach, Fla.;
one niece, Beverly Curphey and husband, Devon,
of Loxahatchee, Fla.; four nephews, Craig
Eaton and wife, Sandy, of Gainesville, Fla.,
Jeff Eaton and wife, Teresa, of Coral Springs,
Fla., Mark Lee Sayre and wife, Debbie, of
Leon, W.Va., and Gary LeRow and wife, Lynn, of
San Antonio, Texas; 12 great-nieces and
nephews; and four great-great-nieces and
nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by two sisters, Pauline Sayre and
Helen Jean LeRow.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10
a.m. Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
Fifth Street, Parkersburg. The Rev. Kent Boone
will officiate and burial will follow at
Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. The visitation
will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral
home.

Cleo Michelle Hall, 95, was received home unto
her Saviour on Feb. 22, 2009, from Cedar Grove
Personal Care. She was surrounded by her
family, which included her caregivers and her
pastor and his wife.

She was born April 8, 1913, in Montesano,
Wash., a daughter of the late Alpheus and
Dolly (Dotson) Hamrick. Her family moved back
to Nicolette, W.Va., when she was a small
child. She married Opha Hess, who died in
1947. She later married William Hoyt Hall.
Together they had one daughter, Patricia Ann
Duckworth (Joseph).

Mrs. Hall worked at the U.S. Quarry Tile Co.
until the birth of their daughter, upon which
time she became a full-time housewife and
mother. Mrs. Hall was a member of the Order of
the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was
also a member of the Rebecca's. She was
originally a member of the Davisville United
Methodist Church and transferred her
membership to the Kanawha United Methodist
Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother and
father; both of her husbands; two brothers,
Wenzel S. Hamrick and Cecil E. Hamrick; and
two sisters, Bernice O. Fury and Naomi B.
Swain.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-
law, Patricia A. and Joseph C. Duckworth; two
stepchildren, William J. Hall and Georgia A.
Wilson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews. Especially
close to her were nieces, Connie B. Allman and
Juanita Kimes.

The funeral service for Cleo will be 11 a.m.
Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Jamie Sprague
officiating. Burial will follow at Parkersburg
Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be from
6-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Thursday at the funeral home. There will be an
Eastern Star Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, also at the funeral home.

Nora Lora Holliday Carson
Rockport, WV

Nora Lora Holliday Carson, 87, of Rockport,
passed away Feb. 12, 2009, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.

She was born at Rockport, a daughter of the
late David Ellsworth and Faye Kerr Holliday.
Nora was a member of Lowdell United Methodist
Church and was a homemaker and dairy farmer.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing, quilting and
doing seamstress work.

Surviving are three sons, William Charles
(Wanda) Carson of Belpre, Harold D. (Mary)
Carson of Rockport and Steve (Margaret) Carson
of Rockport; five daughters, Betty Thompson
(Harlin) of Ravenswood, Linda Carson of Mesa,
Ariz., Norma Chidester (Donald) of Chandler,
Ariz., Judy Carson (Sherman Gerlach) of
Letart, W.Va., and Connie Carson (Tommy Dyson)
of Race City, N.C.; 27 grandchildren; and
several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, W.M. "Willie" Carson;
a daughter-in-law, Ernestine Carson; an infant
brother; and an infant sister.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Vera Archer
officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-
4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Britton
Parkersburg, WV

Robert Britton, 81, of Parkersburg, passed
away Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at his residence.

He was born May 15, 1927, at Pinch, W.Va., the
only child of John Rector and Nancy Belleville
Britton.

Robert was a member of the Ravenswood First
Baptist Church and retired from Kaiser
Aluminum as an electronics technician. He also
retired from the United States Navy with 21
years of service having served during World
War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Robert's favorite hobby was woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne
Staats Britton; one son, Michael Robert
Britton and his wife, Connie, of Sulphur, La.;
one daughter, Nancy E. Britton and her
husband, Jeffery Woodward, of Santa Clara,
Calif.; and three grandchildren, Nicholas A.
Britton, Amber M. Britton and Ian A. Woodward.

Robert was also considered a member of
the "Staats Family" as he was very close to
and loved by them all.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. The Rev. Dr. William "Bill"
Thomas will officiate and burial will follow
at Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will
be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral
home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the
Disabled American Veterans.

Following the services on Wednesday, there
will be a gathering of friends and family for
a meal together and to celebrate Robert's
life. This will be from 3-5 p.m. at the
Fellowship Hall of Trinity United Methodist
Church at 10th Avenue and Thomas Street in
south Parkersburg
