Betty Louise Giffin, of New Marshfield, Ohio,
joined her husband, Calvin "Ted" Giffin, and
infant son, Dean Ray Giffin, in Heaven on
Sept. 20, 2008.
She and Ted were married on Sept. 14, 1946, in
Parkersburg. She was the daughter of Grace
Nellie and James Herbert Lemon of Parkersburg.
Betty lived in New Marshfield next to her son,
Larry, and his wife, Kay Lowry-Giffin, for the
last 11 years. Her favorite pastime was
watching out the kitchen window for any "new"
developments in Larry and Kay's back yard. In
the mornings, she looked forward to seeing Kay
and her dog, Harley, going for their morning
walk. Harley would look to see if she was
sitting in the porch swing so he could visit.
She enjoyed shopping, yard sales and going out
to lunch with her daughters whenever
possible. "Mommy, " as we called her, loved to
mow the yard for exercise and did so up until
the middle of June of 2008.
Although Betty did not actively participate in
the community, she devoted her entire life to
her husband and children for over 60 years.
She will be desperately missed by all of her
children and all who knew her.
She is survived by her five children, Larry E.
Giffin of New Marshfield, Ohio, Dianne Burns
of Guysville, Ohio, Kathy Peabody of Poland,
Maine, Wanda Fulton of Orlando, Fla., and
Sharon Bernardo of Delaware, Ohio; 13
grandchildren, Ben Giffin, Sara Giffin, Shelia
Murphy, Shawn Donahue, Joseph "BJ" Scott,
Jason Scott, Mellissa Fulton, Stephanie
Fulton, Michaelyn Bernardo, Michelle Bernardo,
Ashley Bernardo, Christopher Bernardo and
Matthew Bernardo; 12 great-grandchildren; and
three sisters, Dorothy Swiger, Stella Miller
and Bernice Teters, all of Parkersburg.
The family wants to thank the Appalachian
Community Hospice for their kind assistance
given to our mother during this time.
The family requests donations be sent to the
Hospice Center at 30 Herrold Ave., Athens, OH
45701 or the American Cancer Society, 3901

husband, Ted, who departed this life in the
year 2000, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the
Carthage Community Church on Township Road
570A off Route 50 in Guysville, Ohio.
