John A Yeager
Parkersburg, WV
John A. Yeager, 59, of Red Peak Circle,
Parkersburg, died unexpectedly on June 13,
2008.
He was born December 6, 1948, in Parkersburg,
a son of Joan P. Yeager of Vienna and the late
William Correll Yeager.
John was a graduate of Parkersburg High School
and West Virginia University. He was co-owner
of the Parkersburg Tile Company. He was a
lifetime member of the NRA and loved the
outdoors, and he served honorably in the
United States Navy.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by
his only brother, William “Bill” Yeager of
Parkersburg; his best friend and longtime life
partner and companion, Mary Lou Venarchick;
four stepchildren, Anthony and Ronald
Venarchick and Nicholas and Ashley Bell; and
grandfather to Hayden and Hayley Bell.
There will be no visitation. A memorial
service will be at a later date to be
announced.
Kimes Funeral Home and Cremation Services of
Parkersburg is assisting with cremation
services.
James Lee (Jim) Ruth
Pettyville - Larkmead, WV
James Lee (Jim) Ruth, 71, of the Pettyville-
Larkmead area, passed away June 6, 2008, at
his home.
He was born March 18, 1937, in Reedsville,
Ohio, a son of the late Ernest Monroe and
Blanche Beatrice Boring Ruth. Jim was of the
Protestant faith and was working as a salesman
for Action Crash Parts of Parkersburg. He was
a U.S. Navy veteran and retired with the U.S.
Naval Reserve with 25 years of service.
Surviving is his wife, Bonita Louise Tawney
Ruth; three sons, James F. Ruth and his wife,
Brenda, of Paul’s Valley, Okla., David Slack
of Austin, Texas, and Jay Pettry and his wife,
Kelly, of Charleston, W.Va.; three daughters,
Tammy Hicks and her husband, John, of Swayzee,
Ind., Angie Pearson of Paul’s Valley, Okla.,
and Monica Nelson and her husband, Ray, of
Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a special nephew that he
raised, Vincent Michael Harvey of Belpre; and
one brother, George Ruth in Massachusetts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a son, Larry Todd Ruth; and his
sister, Donna Jean Harvey.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home of Parkersburg, with the
Rev. Robert E. Casto and the Rev. Ronnie
Hendershot officiating. The viewing and
visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Sunday at the funeral home. The American
Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg will provide a
military service at the funeral home
immediately following the funeral service.
Robert Edgar Kerr Sr.
Parkersburg, WV
Robert Edgar Kerr Sr., 80, of Parkersburg,
passed away May 29, 2008, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Wood County, a
son of the late Andrew and Edna Freeland Kerr.
Bob was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist
Church and had retired from W.H. Smith
Hardware with 38 years of service. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing and gardening.
Surviving are two sons, Gary W. Kerr and
Robert E. Kerr Jr., both of Belleville; a
daughter, Mary Westfall and her husband, Pat
Westfall, of Leetonia, Ohio; five
grandchildren, Patrick Westfall Jr., Lacey
Louise Westfall, Eric Robert Westfall, Misty
Rayne Lambert and Robert Wayne Kerr; one
sister, Susie Lowther of Belmont; and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Ellen Clegg Kerr in 1995;
an infant son; brothers, Henry, Bill, Wendell
and Bruce Kerr; and sisters, Roberta Anderson
and Annie Kimes.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Lloyd Winans
officiating. Entombment will follow in the
Chapel of Peace Mausoleum of Sunset Memory
Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-
8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Tina Marie Allman
Davisville, WV
Tina Marie Allman, 43, of Davisville, passed
away May 28, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.
She was born Nov. 13, 1964, in Parkersburg,
daughter of the late Monetta Wilkinson Chaffin
and stepdaughter of Kenneth Chaffin of
Parkersburg.
Tina was a member of the Kanawha United
Methodist Church and was employed at Cedar
Grove Personal Care Home. She was a graduate
of Parkersburg South High School. Tina was an
amazing mother. Her children, her husband and
her family were her life.
Surviving is her husband, William D. (Bill)
Allman Jr.; three daughters, Tashua Allman, a
student at Glenville State College, and Brandy
Allman and Lacey Allman, both at home; two
stepchildren, Mike and Jill Allman, both of
Parkersburg; and one brother, David Crockett
McMullen of Parkersburg.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Larry Dale
officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset
Memory Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-
4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Patricia W. Lott
Rockport, WV
Patricia W. Lott, 74, of Rockport, W.Va.,
passed away May 27, 2008 at her residence.
She was born in Wood County, a daughter of the
late Annabelle A. Pierce Brand and Calvin
Propst. She was raised by her mother and late
stepfather, Clement Brand. Patricia was
Baptist by faith and had been employed at
Shoney’s and LaQuinta Motels.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Bonnett
and husband, Ed; three sons, Harley Lott,
Harlan (Dobb) Lott (Sharma Butler) and Preston
Lott; six granddaughters and five grandsons;
two brothers, Cleston (Bing) Brand and Joe
Brand, both of Parkersburg; and several nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, she
was preceded in death by several brothers and
sisters including Joanna Ledford of Forest
Lakes, Ariz.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at
the Pond Creek Baptist Church Cemetery near
Rockport with Pastor Paul Drake officiating.
There will be no public visitation.
Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, is in charge
of arrangements.
Dorothy Nell Shuman, 81, of Waverly, W.Va.,
passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 7, 2008, at
Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville, Ohio.
She was born April 28, 1927, at Waverly,
daughter of the late Charles Homer and Grace
Virginia Meeks McAtee. Dorothy was a longtime
member of the Waverly Church of Christ, was a
licensed beautician for 35 years working out
of her own shop at home and was a homemaker.
Surviving is her son, Benny Michael Shuman and
his wife, Cheryl, of Waverly; two
grandchildren, Susan R. Shuman of Marysville,
Ohio, and Joseph M. Shuman of Marietta; and
two great-grandsons, Caleb and Colin Spires.
She also has a large extended family of the
Meeks' and McAtee's.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Everett Russell Shuman.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Evangelist Bob Long
officiating. The visitation will be from 4-8
p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be
at the Willow Island Cemetery; however, there
will be no procession to the cemetery.
