Z. Irene Campbell
Franklin, TN
Z. Irene Campbell, 80, formerly of
Parkersburg, passed away April 24, 2007, at
the Harpeth Terrace Nursing Home in Franklin,
Tenn., of complications of Alzheimer’s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John
W. Campbell Jr.; her parents, Harry and Rhea
Toomey; and her older sister, Vera Williams.
She is survived by her sister, Betty Louise
Foster of Rock Hill, N.C.; her children,
Cheryl Campbell Cosby and David Campbell and
his wife, Vicki, of Franklin, Tenn.; and
grandchildren, Ross, Ryan and Roxanne Cosby
and David and Courtney Campbell.
Mrs. Campbell was a graduate of Parkersburg
High School and a member of the Lynn Street
Church of Christ.
Friends and relatives will be received from 6-
8 p.m. Friday at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521
Fifth St., Parkersburg. A funeral service will
be noon Saturday at the funeral home.
Larry Dexter Ruble
Parkersburg, WV
Larry Dexter Ruble, 62, of Parkersburg passed
away April 23, 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.
Larry was born June 8, 1944, at Belleville,
W.Va., a son of the late Harold and Velma
Smith Ruble. He was a member of the Community
Chapel Church at Davisville and retired with
32 years of service as a master electrician
for the Wood County School System. Larry was
an avid Parkersburg High School Big Reds’ fan,
enjoyed hunting and spending time with his
family and especially enjoyed his
grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Nadene Crawford Ruble;
one son, Larry Ruble and his wife, Jennifer;
two daughters, Delta Barr and husband, Chuck,
and Carrie Richmond and husband, Gabriel, all
of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Madison
Ruble, Devon Ruble, Vaneta Barr, Zackary Barr
and Hanna Richmond; three brothers, Robert,
Harold and Conrad Ruble; a sister, Charlotte
McCown, all of Parkersburg; and several nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by twin grandsons,
Brandon and Bradley Barr; two brothers, Wayne
and Chuck Ruble; and a sister, Regina Nichols.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Ray Seebaugh
officiating. Burial will follow at the
Rockport Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4
and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the
Parkersburg High School Football Boosters via
the School’s Athletic Department in memory of
Larry D. Ruble.
Leo Harold Kirby
Vienna, WV
Leo Harold Kirby, 78, of Vienna, departed this
life Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born March 31, 1929 at New Haven,
W.Va., a son of the late George and Minnie
Riggs Kirby. Leo was the last surviving member
of his immediate family. He was retired from
Johns-Manville and was an avid carpenter and
auto mechanic.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Betty J.
Ellis Kirby; three daughters, Pamela S. Hughes
and husband Lloyd of Belpre, Linda L. Wofe and
husband Bob of Vienna and Alma Dotson and
husband Al of Vienna; six grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and two loving pet cats.
In additiion to his parents, he was preceded
in death by an infant son, Richard Harold
Kirby; and six brothers.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m.
Friday, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Reverend Gene Eaton and
Reverend Carroll McCauley officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends
may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m.
today and an hour prior to the service on
Friday.
Charles Francis Sprigg
Parkersburg, WV
Charles Francis Sprigg, 91, of Parkersburg
passed away April 7, 2007, at Worthington
Manor Nursing Home, Parkersburg.
Mr. Sprigg was born June 28, 1915, in
Parkersburg, a son of the late Fred Sprigg and
Aurelia Christmeyer Sprigg Cline. Charles
retired from Goldsmith & Black as a warehouse
clerk and worked 22 years as a route carrier
with The Parkersburg News & Sentinel and he
had been affiliated with Cole Brothers Circus
as an elephant trainer. He was an avid camper
and outdoorsman, he loved sports and was a
Parkersburg High School Big Reds and West
Virginia University Mountaineers fan. He was a
member of Grace Gospel Church at Pettyville
and had also attended St. Lukes United
Methodist Church at Harrisville.
Surviving is his daughter, Lois Jean Farr of
Vienna; three sons, John Frederick Sprigg and
his wife, Karen, of Belpre, Charles “David”
Sprigg and wife, Carol, of Harrisville and
Robert Allen Sprigg and wife, Shelia, of
Waterbury, Vt.; one sister, Lois Wendell of
Parkersburg; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-
grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife of 58 years, Aurelia Gregory
Sprigg; and a brother, the Rev. Frederick
Theodore “Ted” Sprigg.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Tom Malcolm
officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen
North Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and
6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
