George Cook Stone, 80, of Vienna passed away March 31, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his
wife and children.
George was born Aug. 18, 1925 in Parkersburg
the only child of the late George Selden and
Dorothy Dee Curry Stone. George retired with
40 years of service from the Kauffman-Lattimer
Co. as operations manager of the Warehouse. He
was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during
World War II. He was a member of the Boy Scout
Troop No. 3 and the Sea Scouts. He was of the
Protestant faith and enjoyed walking his dog
in the Vienna area.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, June
Southern Stone; two sons, Selden Cook Stone of
St. Clairsville, Ohio, and George Bryan Stone
and his wife, Kathy, of Evans, W.Va.; one
daughter, Susan Christine Stone of Vienna;
four grandchildren, Jonathan Harley Stone,
Christopher Bryan Stone, Adam Cook Stone and
Jennifer Deborah Walker; one great-grandson,
Brendon Walker; several cousins; and his pet
dog, Mistery.
In honor of Mr. Stone’s wishes, there will be
no visitation or services.

Janeth Louise Clay Roten, 81, of Parkersburg
passed into the arms of Jesus peacefully at
St. Joseph’s Hospital on March 26, 2006, with
her family gathered at her side in songs of
Thanksgiving and praise.
She was born Jan. 18, 1925, at Mullens, W.Va.,
a daughter of the late Lewis G. and Rouea
McKinney Clay. Janeth was a former resident of
Glenville and Millwood, W.Va. She was a
homemaker, a loving wife, mother and
grandmother. She enjoyed playing bridge and
was a member of the Parchment Valley Baptist
Church in Ripley.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59
years, James Emory Roten Sr.; two sons, James
E. (Rusty) Roten Jr. and his wife, Sharon
McCauley Roten, of Parkersburg and Thomas
Roten and his wife, Leigh Anne Call Roten, of
Barboursville; three daughters, Kathryn L.
Roten of Wheeling, Karen S. Skidmore and her
husband, James L. Skidmore, of Charleston and
Kimberly J. Hundley and her husband, Phillip
E. Hundley, of St. Clairsville, Ohio; 12
grandchildren, Andrea Skidmore Massey, Jared
Skidmore, Rebekah Roten, James E. Roten III,
Michael Roten, Adam Hundley, Andrew Hundley,
Allie Hundley, Braden Roten, Joshua Roten,
Samuel Roten and Sutton Roten; and two great-
grandchildren, Taylor Massey and Lauren Massey.
She was preceded in death by two brothers,
Frank Clay and Fred Clay; and five sisters,
Gladys Moberly, Anne Ross, Susan Pryor and
twin infant sisters.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m.
Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg. The Rev. Brian Harrell
and the Rev. Harry Drake will officiate. The
family will be receiving friends from noon
until time of service Friday at the funeral
home.

Michael Anthony Norwood, 43, of Parkersburg
passed away March 18, 2006, in the CCU of
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Amarillo, Texas, a son of
Phyliss R. Treadwell Kissinger of Little Rock,
Ark., and the late Harry R. Norwood. Michael
was employed with Bank Shot of Parkersburg. He
had served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Kathy Price Norwood of
Arkansas; three sons, Cody Allen Norwood,
Michael Anthony Norwood II and Jeffery Paul
Norwood; three daughters, Jessica Linn
Norwood, Leslie Michelle Norwood and Rebecca
Lynn Norwood, all of Parkersburg; a
stepdaughter, Jennifer Lee Smarr and her
husband, Mike, of Parkersburg; two
grandchildren, Shania Lynn Smarr and Walker
Allen Smarr of Parkersburg; two brothers,
Gerald Norwood and his wife, Donna, of Lonake,
Ark., and Frank Kevin Norwood and his wife,
Nancy, of Claremont, Fla.; one sister, Jamie
Mills and her husband, Blake, of Bentonville,
Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Robert Richardson
officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.
until service time Wednesday at the funeral
home. Cremation with dignity will take place
after the service.
Paul Frederick Riel, 86, of Parkersburg,
passed away March 16, 2006, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 25, 1919, at Washington,
W.Va., a son of the late Samuel T. and Mary
Ida Russell Riel. Paul was of the Nazarene
faith. He was retired from Johns-Manville as
an inspector. He had served 15 years in the
U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War
and World War II. After the war, he served
with the CC’s. Paul was a member of the AARP
and enjoyed working out at the fitness center.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews,
including Barbara Ann and James Martin of
Pettyville, with whom he resided; and several
great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by five brothers, John, Sam, Robert,
William and Jim Riel; and two sisters, Ruby
Burd and Mamie Burd.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m.
today at Evergreen North Cemetery with Pastor
Todd Hill officiating. Burial will follow.

James J. Bolinger, 82, of Parkersburg passed
away March 9, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.
He was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Fred Bolinger and Nellie
Bolinger Harper. Mr. Bolinger was a retired
production foreman with the 7-UP, RC Bottling
Co. He was a U.S. Army Infantry veteran of
World War II and enjoyed playing solitaire.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas J. and Linda
Bolinger of Washington, James F. and Barbara
Bolinger of Parkersburg and Floyd E. and Suki
Bolinger of Georgia; two daughters, Nellie Ann
Baer and husband, John, of Augusta, Maine, and
Elizabeth Judy Tanner and husband, Junior, of
Parkersburg; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris
Marie Pickens Bolinger in 1989.
There will be a private family graveside
service Saturday at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The Rev. Dr. Harold Custer and Pastor Rodney
Lord will be speaking. Burial will follow.
There will be no visitation.
