Brock B. Brady
Brock B. Brady, 79, of Shock, passed away peacefully at his home November 22, 2013.
Born December 31, 1933, he as a son of the late Elbert Brady and Josephine Boone Brady. He was married 53 years to the one love of his life, Alma Lawson Brady, who survives in addition to his children and their spouses, Jennifer Markle (Shannon), Jill Cottrell (Roger), Matt Brady (Misty), and Julia Fitzwater (Wriston). Eight grandchildren, Ashley, Kyle, Megan, Emily, Samuel, Riley Paige, Brady, and Riley, along with one great grandson, Logan, also survive.
Brock was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman that always looked forward to squirrel and deer hunting with his family and friends. He was a lifelong timber cutter and dozer operator. This combined his livelihood with his passion as a man who truly loved the woods.
Brock was a member of the Rosedale United Methodist Church, which he attended faithfully. He was a US Army Veteran having served in France and Germany.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Rosedale United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Raynor and Elder Larry Fisher officiating. Interment followed in the Boone Cemetery. Friends called at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
Maysel Irene Nottingham
Maysel Irene Gray Nottingham, 89, of Mineral Wells, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 in Eagle Point, Parkersburg, after a long illness.
She was born in Ira, WV, February 16, 1922 a daughter of the late Homer Gray and Virginia Taylor Gray. She was married on March 1, 1943 to the late Romie Nottingham, who passed away in 2003.
Maysel is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Romie, six sisters and five brothers. She is survived by a brother, Arlen Gray, of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Maysel took place on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m at Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home, Flatwoods. Maysel was buried in Strange Creek Cemetery, Strange Creek. The family received friends on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home, Flatwoods, is in charge of arrangements.
Penny Lynn Rush
Penny Lynn Rush passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at her home in Frametown, WV at the age of 54.
She was born on July 14, 1957 in Milton, WV a daughter of the late Allie Estep and Mary Spurlock.
She is survived and very much loved by husband, Robert Rush; his brother, Allen “Bubbles” Rush; son, Dwaine Fetty; daughter, Sallie Chapman; brothers, Dwaine Estep and his wife, Karen, JimBob Estep and his wife, Kathy, Michael McKinney and his wife, Vannie; sister, Peggy Hinkle and her husband, Klaus; as well as five grandkids, Cole Spurlock, Makaila Chapman, Aaron Chapman, John Fetty, Sherridan Fetty and great grandson, Jamie Spurlock.
Service was 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 21 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Robey Godfrey officiating.
Friends called one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lee E. Cooke
Lee E. Cooke, 68, of Gassaway passed away December 23, 2011 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
He was a former police officer in Richmond, VA and was an Air Force veteran.
He is survived by wife, Debra Cooke; children, Melissa Kennedy and husband, Rex, Dana Cooke, Tony Cooke and Lee Cooke, Jr.; brother, Ernie Bivens; sister, Marie Bivens and Sheila Bivens; granddaughter, Madison Kennedy.
Memorial service was 2 p.m. Monday, December 26 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Brace Cook officiating.
Friends called one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
At Mr. Cooke’s request his body will be cremated.

Edna Belle Dalton
Edna Belle Dalton, 89, of Sutton, WV gently passed into eternity with our Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2011.
Edna was born on June 21, 1922 in Spring Hill, WV to the late Ezra Bruce and Minnie Agnes Cart Shingler. She served her Country as a Sergeant in the Army during World War II. She was a registered member of the Women in Military Service for America. She was a retired Beautician, and a Baptist by faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Ezra and Minnie Agnes Cart Shingler, husband: Clarence A. Dalton, sister: Betty Jo Shingler, and brother Victor B. Shingler.
Edna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Rita Jo and Jim Douglas of Sutton, WV, granddaughter Stacy Morris Wagner and husband William, step-grandchildren Jennifer Douglas Walker and husband Nathan, Dr. Justin Douglas and wife Jillian, and Jarod Douglas and wife Miriam and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at Big Union Baptist Church at 11 amin Dille with Rev. Danny Richardson and Rev. Allan Copenhaver officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8pm at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home in Sutton. Burial with Military Graveside Rites by American Legion Post #33 will be in the Walker Cemetery, near Birch River.
Larry Douglas Deal
Larry Douglas Deal, 61, of Sutton, WV passed away Saturday January 21, 2012 at his residence.
He was born September 21, 1950 in Sutton, WV the son of the late Earl & Gay Tolley Deal.
Larry was a Construction Worker and a member of the Moose Lodge #1693, Sutton, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Joan Miles, brother; John Deal, infant brother; Earl Deal Jr., brother-in-laws; Lawrence Berry, Ira “Bud” Keener, Olen Purvis.
He is survived by his brother; Jerry Deal & wife Evelyn of Sutton, WV, sisters; Delores Berry and Sharon Purvis both of Bradenton, FL., Shirley Keener of Streetsboro, OH., Judy Houghton of Marlinton, WV, brother-in-laws; Okey Miles & Bob Houghton, niece & caregiver; Angie Houghton, several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 1: 00 p.m. Wednesday January 25, 2012 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Bill Griffin officiating. Burial followed at Braxton Memorial Cemetery, Sutton, WV. Friends called one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Blair Brady
Blair Brady age 83 of Walker Rd., Rosedale West Virginia, Gilmer County, departed this life at 7:05 a.m., Thursday January 19, 2012 in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport West Virginia, following an extended illness.
Born July 6, 1928 in Gilmer County, son of the late Elbert S. and Josephine Boone Brady.
Mr. Brady was an Army career veteran, having served 20 years, in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from service in 1967 and later retired from construction as a heavy equipment operator. In his spare time he loved to fish.
On April 30, 1955 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Ihlefeld Brady who survives at their Rosedale home.
Surviving are 3 sons and 1 daughter; Kenneth James Brady and wife Karen of Washington West Virginia, Michael Brady of Sutton West Virginia, Timothy Brady and wife Lety of Charlottesville Virginia, and Karen Steiner and husband Frank of Little Birch West Virginia. There are 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Brock Brady of Shock West Virginia and Borden Brady of Texas, and 1 sister Bernice Rogers of Baltimore Maryland.
Along with his parents, Blair was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters; Bernard and Blaine Brady, Beulah Bailey, and Barbara Sauor.
At the request of Mr. Brady, he was cremated with no services.

Chester Ray Parsons
Chester Ray Parsons age 61 of Tanner Creek Rd. Glenville West Virginia departed this life at 6:30 a.m., Sunday January 22, 2012 at Arnoldsburg following an extended illness.
Born July 10, 1950 in Gilmer County, son of the late Delbert and Geneva Harris Parsons.
Chester enjoyed tending to his farm animals, horses and chickens, and as a youth attended the Chestnut Lick Baptist Church.
Surviving are 12 siblings, Lenora “Sis” Miller of Glenville, Jack Parsons and wife Geraldine of Lockney WV, Hallie Minney and husband Kesley of Sand Fork WV, Cora Kimes of New Haven WV, Wanda Accord of Beckley WV, Patricia Knisley of Spencer WV, Madeline Duskey of Tanner WV, Greta Peters and husband Paul of Glenville WV, Jessie Parsons of McFarlan WV, Gena “Kay” Peters and husband John of Glenville, Steve Parsons and wife Regina of Glenville, and Bobby Parsons of Lockney. Chester is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 sister Pearl Parsons and 1 brother Eddie Parsons.
Funeral services were conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville WV., 11:00 a.m., Thursday January 26, 2012 with Pastor Randy Wilson officiating. Burial followed in the Collins Community Cemetery at Stumptown. Friends called 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mortuary.

Hunter Harvey Woods
Hunter Harvey Woods infant son of Harvey & Crystal Lynn Hundley Woods of Dille, WV went home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 21, 2012.
He was born on December 3, 2011 in Summersville, WV.
Hunter was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandmother; Shirley Jones Hundley.
He is survived by his parents, brothers; Derek Woods of Richwood, WV, Christopher Canter of Widen, WV, sisters; Selena Rosalee Woods at home, Heather Lesnett of Waynesburg, PA, Paternal Grandparents; Ledford & Linda Woods of Dille, WV, Maternal Grandfather; Richard Hundley of Stuarts Draft, VA, God Parents; Anthony & Jennifer Duffield of Clay, WV.
Graveside service was held 2:00 p.m. Friday January 27, 2012 at Hall-Woods Cemetery, Dille, WV with the Rev. Wayne Litton officiating. Friends called Thursday January 26, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home.
Gail W. Allen
Gail W. “Buster” Allen, 95, of Canton, MI, formerly of Gassaway, died January 21, 2012.
He was born September 24, 1916 in Braxton County a son of the late Mary Isa Sponaugle.
He was retired from General Motors and was an Army veteran of WWII.
He is survived by sister, Ressie Wilson of Burnsville; half-brother, George Sponaugle of Ypsilanti, MI and several nieces and nephews.
