Quindora Jane Chapman
Quindora Jane Chapman, 72 of Little Hocking, Ohio died December 7, 2007 at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born at Widen, WV on May 14, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Woodrow Dawson and Agnes Salisbury Dobbins. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert (Bob) Chapman Sr., her son Robert Chapman Jr. and his wife Diane of Belpre, Ohio, Larry Chapman and his wife Janice of Zanesville, Ohio, her daughter Kay Riggins of Belpre, grandchildren, Jim Chapman, Jason Riggins, Amber Riggins, Ginger Riggins, Kayla Chapman, great grandchildren, Taylor Chapman, Morgan Chapman, her step brother, Johnny Wayne Dawson, stepsister, Joyce Durham, and a sister-in-law, Janet Blaser.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes Dobbins, her father, Woodrow Dawson, a son, Steven Chapman, her stepfather, Albert Dobbins, brother, Keith Dawson, and a granddaughter, Heather Chapman.
Services were held on Monday, December 10 at 11:00 AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Vernon Snell officiating. Burial followed in the Torch Cemetery.

Grace Belle Lewis
Grace Belle Lewis was born February 5, 1921. She died at age 86 on November 29, 2007. Grace died at Charleston Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV following a massive stroke seven and a half years earlier and compounded most recently by several debilitating infections.
Grace Lewis was the 5th of 9 children born to William M. Lewis and Fannie M. Acree Lewis. Surviving Grace is her sister, Helen Rosabelle Stokes of Santa Barbara, CA; two nephews, Dale and Dan Lewis and their families, all of Strange Creek.
Sisters, Bessie Lewis and Edith Lewis and brothers, Clyde Lewis, Norman Lewis, Jim Lewis and two infant brothers preceded Grace in death.
Grace graduated from Nicholas County High School. After graduation, Grace was employed by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, OH for her entire working career.
Grace attended the Akron Baptist Temple of Akron, OH and remained a member there for the rest of her life.
Grace was noted for her stable work ethic and her careful savings. She was generous to her family. Having them stay with her both in Akron and in the Lewis home in later years. She was very conservative with herself, but very giving toward others. And she loved the land. She loved West Virginia.
Services were held on Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Lyle Stokes officiating. Burial followed in the Lewis Family Cemetery, Keener’s Ridge, Strange Creek.
Jackie Lee Hyer
Jackie Lee Hyer, 77, of Redknot, (Quail Valley Estates), Princeton, died early Thursday morning, November 29, 2007 at his residence.
Born October 4, 1930, in Flatwoods, he was the son of the late John D. & Elva Gay Wyatt Hyer.
Mr. Hyer had served his country for more than 20 years, having served in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts with the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Chief Yeoman in the Submarine service. After his retirement from the Navy, Mr. Hyer was a computer programmer for the U.S. Government for 10 years.
He is survived by five children, Barbara Kay Witt & husband Stan of Athens,
Donna Coombs & husband Argil of Flower, Annie Harris & husband Richard of Suffolk VA, John “Chuck” Hyer & wife Anne Marie of Lexington SC, Joy Lynn Hyer of Homestead FL; Step Son, Derek Ninneman of South Carolina; Three siblings: Tom Hyer, Allie Beth Hatfield and Charles Hyer.
The family has honored Mr. Hyer’s request, his body has been cremated. There will be no services at the funeral home.
The family of Jackie Hyer is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
Henry Berlin Stewart Henry Berlin Stewart, 63, of Herold Rt., Sutton died December 2, 2007 at home.
He was born December 22, 1943 at Cabin Creek, a son of the late Andrew Bud Stewart who died in 1976 and Ella Lemon Stewart who died in 1993.
He was owner and operator of Stewart Trucking; he loved horses, trucks and Harley-Davidson Motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Cutlip Stewart; daughters, Shawn Darnold and husband, Scott of Alum Creek and Melinda Flint and husband, Rob of Gassaway; step-son, Chadwick Mollohan and wife, Lora stationed in Germany; step-daughter, Courtney Mollohan of Summersville; brother, James Buddy Stewart of Gassaway; sisters, Wanda Lee Carr of Gassaway and Jayne Given of Wilse; grandchildren, Ethan Flint, LaShawna Carr, Hunter Carr, Montana Flint, Noah Darnold and Lanah Mollohan.
He dearly loved his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sisters, Sally Bosley (1981), Betty Lou Friend (1987), and Carolyn Carrow (1989); brother, Albert Stewart (1993).
Services were held on Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Gassaway Baptist Church with Pastor Lester Buddy Lemon officiating. Burial followed in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.

Margaret Fisher Williams
Margaret Fisher Williams, age 95, of Ireland, the Fall Run community, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, after a long illness.
She was born June 5, 1912 in Braxton County, the fourth child of the late Eli Newton Fisher and the late May Ellen Gibson Fisher.
She was preceded in death on July 15, 1958 by her husband, Homer Glen Williams whom she married on March 30, 1932.
They had five children: Calvin Earnest Williams and wife Lucille of Napier, WV; Homer Earl Williams and wife Sherrill of Ireland, WV; Lora Athena Crawford of Weston, WV; Eddie Wayne Williams and wife Sharon of Fall Run, WV; and Margaret Ann Carter and husband Glenn of Fall Run, WV.
Mrs. Williams is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and by a sister, Myrtle Fisher Gregory of Fall Run, WV.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Gibson, sisters Lilly Gay Fisher Boggs, Olga Diane Fisher Pickens, Berthena Fisher and Alta Fisher Pickens.
Mrs. Williams enjoyed her family, quilting, gardening, her flowers, and Blue Grass Gospel Music. She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.
Services were held on Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Alkire Funeral Chapel. Rev. Lonnie Ramsey officiated. Burial followed in the Gibson Cemetery.
Donnie E. Uldrich
Donnie E. Uldrich,79 , of Sutton, died December 3, 2007 at her home. She was born October 9, 1928 in Braxton County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Riley & Bertha Conrad Westfall. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Uldrich, sister Bonnie Brown; and brother Franklin Westfall.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a nurse’s aide for Valley Manor Nursing Home for 12 years.
She is survived by her son Jack James Westfall and wife Deborah of Dover, OH; sister Daisy Garrett of Sutton, WV; 5 brothers Bill Westfall of Strange Creek, WV, John Henry Westfall and wife Della of Sutton, Raymond Westfall & wife Shirley of Sutton, Bobbie Westfall & wife Sue of Port Washington , OH, and Wade Westfall & wife Barb of Dundee, OH; 2 grandchildren Christopher Westfall and Cynthia Schwenk & husband Rob; and 3 great grandchildren Zachary Meechan, Arielle (A. J.) Westfall and Koen Schwenk.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. George Rose officiating. Burial followed in the Tinney Cemetery, Road Run, Sutton, WV.

Thomas Arlie Ratliff
Thomas Arlie Ratliff, 66, of Gassaway passed away Dec. 5, 2007, at his home after an 11-year battle with cancer. He was born June 3, 1941, at Widen.
He was a heavy equipment operator and welder for 48 years. He was a member of Operating Engineers Union Local 132, a Shriner and a Christian.
He is survived by his wife, Latetia Ann McLaughlin Ratliff; daughter and her husband, Joetta J. and Rick Stewart of Gassaway; mother, Leaty Agnes Hamrick Ratliff of Wilsie; brothers and their wives, David Lee and Joyce Ratliff of Wilsie and Raymond and Jean Ratliff of Maysel; sisters and their husbands, Nancy and Dewey Keener of Sutton, Reba and Arthur McCracken of Lake Milton, Ohio, and Frankie Sue Drake of Sutton; and grandchildren, Thomas and Morgan Stewart. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linka Marie Ratliff. Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway. At Mr. Ratliff’s request, the body was cremated.

Melvin J. Conner
Melvin J. Conner, 81, of Ravenswood, died Dec. 7, 2007, at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston. He was born Feb. 24, 1926, to John Jefferson Connor and Blanche Jarvis Conner. He was retired from Kaiser Aluminum, Ravenswood, and a World War II veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Surviving are two sons, James R. Conner of Parkersburg, and John R. Conner of Hilton Head, S.C.; two daughters, Peggy Conner of Charleston and Patty J. Lisska of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Gaylord Conner of Charleston; sisters, Joanne Shamblin and Maxine Russell, both of Weston; granddaughter, Elizabeth King of Charleston; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood. Burial will be at Holcomb Cemetery, Bickmore. Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, is in charge of arrangements.
Truman R. Yeager
Truman R. Yeager, 73 of Barboursville, WV, formerly of Burnsville, WV passed away Thursday, December 6, 2007 in Huntington, WV after a short illness.
He was born on June 14, 1934 in Burnsville the son of the late Thaddeus and Hanna Wine Yeager. He was a graduate of Burnsville High School and Fairmont State College and a US Army Veteran. He was a former Construction Worker, Real Estate Appraiser, a former employee of American Airlines, Republic Steel and a Professional Photographer. He was the former owner and operator of Scotty Foto in Lake Worth Florida.
Truman also taught photography in adult education classes at Santaluces High School and Lantana Middle School in Lake Worth, FL. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Wife Diana, two infant brothers, Donald and Gerald Yeager. Truman is survived by his wife Laura Linger-Yeager, two daughters, Melinda Reynolds of Sharon Center, OH and Sandra Pichette of Strongsville, OH and three grandsons; one sister, Gertrude Morrison of Sutton, WV.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Sunday Dec. 9, 2007 at Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV with the Rev. Bill Griffin officiating. Burial followed in K of P Cemetery in Burnsville.
