Elma F. Riffle, age 93 of Westover went to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 18, 2010. She was born July 10, 1917 in Monongalia County a daughter of the late Edward and Ada Stiles Lemley.
Elma was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmaw and great grandmaw. She loved and was devoted to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved gardening and raising flowers to add beauty to her neighborhood and church. Elma had been an longtime and active member of the former Westover Wesleyan Church.
Left to grieve her passing are sons, David A. Riffle and wife Ruth of Morgantown, Robert L. Riffle and wife Dorothy of Buford, GA., daughter Carol A. Ayersman and husband Chester of Morgantown, one brother, Robert Lemley and wife Margie of Waynesburg, PA., one sister Audrey Lavelle and husband John of Knob Fork, WV, two grandchildren, Robine Riffle, and Robert “Bobby” Riffle and wife Becky, six great grandchildren, Mason, Madison, Alex, Jodi, Zachary, and Jessica, and several nieces and nephews.
Elma was preceded in death by her husband, William Roscoe (Jock) Riffle, brother Stanley Lemley and sister Mary Geraldine Tucker.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home from 6-8 PM Sunday and on Monday from 3-6 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the McCulla Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Kevin Cain and Pastor Lynn Keener officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.

Jacqueline Kay Riley, 72, a longtime resident of Morgantown was called to her eternal home on Monday, July 9, 2012 at her home. Jacqueline was born in Ripley, WV on April 29, 1940 to the late Samuel and Mary McFarlane Whitman.
Jacqueline was a veteran of the United States Army and served our country as a Registered Nurse during the Vietnam War. Jacqueline was an alumnus of Alderson-Broaddus College where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She later earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Florida. Jacqueline later served as the Assistant Dean of Nursing at West Virginia University and was a member of WVU Alumni Association. Mrs. Riley was a member of the Spruce Street United Methodist Church.
Jacqueline is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Foyles and her husband Kenny, of Morgantown; two sons, Bert Riley and his wife Donna of Denver, North Carolina and Sam Riley, of Morgantown; three grandchildren Randi Mallett, Justice Riley, and Storm Hughey; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jacqueline was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Riley, who passed away in 2008; and one brother, William “Buck” Whitman.
Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thrusday, July 12, at 8 pm. Cremation services will be provided by McCulla Funeral Home following the funeral service.

Rev. Herbert Dallas Riley Sr. age 76 of Crowl Street, Westover went to be with the Lord whom he served and loved for 55 years on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 22, 1933 in Jere, WV a son of the late Herbert Hugh and Georgia Wolfe Riley.
Dallas retired from the WVU Bookstore in 1993, had previously worked at the Morgan Shirt Factory for 22 years. He was a 1953 graduate of University High School and was a United States Army Veteran. Dallas ministered to three Assembly of God Churches and was a member of the Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle. His two greatest joys were in being with his family and preaching the Gospel. He spent the last several years of his life on the road, supporting and cheering his grandchildren in all their activities and driving around with his wife, enjoying the scenery and watching the horses in their fields.
Dallas is survived by his high-school sweetheart, whom he married in 1953, Aileen Wade Riley, two daughters and spouses, Debbie and Mike Bryan of Westover and Judy and Rodney Mason of Cumberland, MD, two sons and spouses, Herb and Christine Riley Jr. of Morgantown and David and Sissy Riley of Mt. Morris, one brother and spouse, Richard “Dick” and Lilly Riley of Morgantown, grandchildren, Michael, Matt and wife Jamie and Mitch Bryan, Dallas, Rachael, and Nick Riley, Paul John Schumacher II and wife Jenn, CJ, Brooke and Zack Mason, Chris and Tiffany Muli, Tosh Beal, Bud Trout, Bubby Paul, and Erica and Jessica Riley, great grandchildren, Sierra, Imami, Malachi, Anzo, Madden, and Cheyenne and several nieces and nephews.
Dallas was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Nellie Welsh and one brother Bobby Riley.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM and at the Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle on Friday from 11:00 AM until the 1:00 PM Funeral service with Pastors Milford Watters and Fred Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by the Westover VFW Post # 9916 and the WVANG Military Funeral Honors, Camp Dawson.

Alvie Richard Rudash Sr., age 76 of Monongahela Avenue, Westover passed away Friday, September 17, 2010 at his home. He was born January 17, 1934 in Granville a son of the late George Rudash and Louise Gajdosik Rudash-Carlock.
Alvie was retired from Consolidation Coal Company Osage # 3 mine with thirty years of service and was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He attended the Nazarene Church and was a member of the UMWA.
Alvie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patty Wade Rudash, one son Rick Rudash and wife Cheryl of Morgantown, one brother Danny Rudash and wife Darlene, one step-brother, Micky Carlock, one granddaughter, Stephanie, two sisters-in-law Dolores Frum and Connie Zilkanich and husband George, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Alvie was preceded in death by one brother, William Rudash.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Monday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the McCulla Funeral Home on Tuesday at 1:30 PM with Rev. E. Casey Shorr officiating. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery with graveside military honors conferred by the Westover VFW Post # 9917 and the WVANG, Military Funeral Honors, Camp Dawson.

Daniel L. “Danny” Sakacsi, age 63, of 634 Martin Hollow Road, Morgantown passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at his home. He was born December 28, 1945 in Morgantown a son of the late Joseph and Helen Adams Sakacsi.
Danny was employed by Service Plus Optical and was a United States Navy Veteran.
Danny is survived by his sons, Daniel LeRoy Sakacsi Jr. and fiancée Amber Crites and Brandon Michael Sakacsi both at home, one sister Helen Sakacsi of Granville, and two brothers, John Sakacsi of Fairmont and Joe Sakacsi Jr. of Granville.
His wife Linda Darlene Richards Sakacsi preceded Danny in death.
In honor of Danny’s wishes, private family services were held and cremation services were provided by McCulla Funeral Home.

Opal Salvo age 81, the best mother and grandmother that ever lived, passed away in her dreams on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at her home. She was born September 4, 1928 in WV a daughter of the late John and Marie Cavins.
Opal had been employed at the South Side Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughter and spouse, Sandra and Douglas Weis of Morgantown and grandchildren, Jamie and Brandon Pro, Austin Weis, Kristen Kristobek and great granddaughter, Madison. One son and spouse, David and Lyn Salvo of St. Louis, MO, grandsons, Ryan and Nickolas Salvo, Alan Salvo and spouse Melissa and great grandson, Spencer, one sister Ruby Leone, Brother James Cavins, nieces Mary Ann Potter, Debbie Leone and great nephew, Tony and her beloved puppies, Candy and Buddy.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest T. Salvo, Son Ernest N.Salvo and grandson Jonathan Salvo, brothers, Joseph and Charles Cavins.
The family would like to thank everyone from Senior Monongalians and TLC Amedisys Hospice for their love, care and support. In honoring Opal’s wishes, McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services and there will be no funeral service.

Wilbur “Sonny” Savage Jr., 73 of Morgantown passed away after a long illness on Friday, September 12, 2008 at Monongalia General Hospital.
He was born October 15, 1934 in Star City a son of the late Wilbert and Rose Jubas Savage.
He was educated in the Monongalia County Schools, and was drafted into the US Army and was Honorably Discharged on the 17th day of September 1957.
He was employed by the WV Newspaper Publishing for 24 years as a supervisor of the mailing room department. He retired in 1999 from Morgantown Energy Technology (EG & G) serving 25 years as a Research Technician, having received many certificates and awards for his outstanding work he had done on many research projects.
He was a longtime member of the Westover United Methodist Church and enjoyed watching baseball and football games, especially watch his grandson Josh (whom he called his buddy) play on baseball teams. He enjoyed traveling and family outings as a close knit family.
Sonny is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of fifty years Mary Lou Bolyard Savage, his daughter Deborah Ferguson and husband John, his grandson Joshua Friend and Tiffany, great granddaughter Elizabeth Friend, all of Morgantown, one step grandson John Ferguson III of Martinsburg, and his beloved dog “Snowball”
He is also survived by sisters Rosella Warnick of Morgantown, Helen Miller and husband Jim of Reedsville, Mary Dunn and husband Bob of Morgantown and Edith Saylor of Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.
Sonny was preceded in death by a brother Robert L. “Jim” Savage, and a sister Margaret DeVall, his grandparents, Michael and Antonia Lojek Jubas and Bruce and Ilda Ohler Savage and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Rex and Mildred Bolyard.
Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Monday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the McCulla Funeral Home with Pastor Rose “Jo” McCartney officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with graveside military services conducted by the Westover VFW Post # 9916 and the WV National Guard. The family requests that donations be made in Sonny’ memory to the Westover United Methodist Church, 28 North Street, Westover, WV 26501.

Arthur P. Scotchel, age 79, of Delaware Ave., Westover died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at home. He was born May 26, 1929 in Morgantown, a son of the late Tony Scarcelli Scotchel and Angeline Laurenzano Scarcelli Scotchel.
Art had been a successful businessman in the Morgantown area for over fifty years. He dearly loved his family and was Catholic by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Shaffer Scotchel; a step-daughter and spouse, Patty and David Mitchell of Morgantown; three sisters, Virginia Iaquinto of Fairmont, Yolanda Grula and Margaret Beaver, both of Naples, FL; two grandchildren, Scott Mitchell and Kristen Clawges; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Seccuro; and seven brothers, Fred, Louie, Tony, Joseph, Frank, Guy, and John Scotchel.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all for the love, help and concern shown during Art’s illness. It will never be forgotten.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Saturday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the McCulla Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009 with Rev. Junior Koon officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Mausoleum.

Gloria Palmer Scotchel age 74 of Bounds Circle, Westover passed away Friday, January 09, 2009 at her home. She was born March 3, 1934 in Acme, WV a daughter of the late Ernest and Opal Jarrell Palmer.
Gloria was greatly loved and appreciated by many family and friends. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated all of her time to each and every person that entered her life with open arms. She was a Methodist by faith and loved her dog Chrissy.
Gloria is survived by one daughter, Denise Kay Scotchel and one son David Lauren Scotchel both of Westover, grandchildren, Scarlett Scotchel, Sherea Scotchel, Gloria Scotchel Haught, and Doug Scotchel and great grandchildren, Holly Geddings, Brianna Geddings, and Austin Lively, and one brother Dewaye Palmer.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lauren Scotchel, one son Douglas Anthony Scotchel, two sisters, Cloteen Palmer and Nada Palmer in infancy, four brothers, Ernest Palmer Jr., Calvin Palmer, Harold Palmer, Robert Palmer, and one grandson Joshua Scotchel.
McCulla Funeral Home provided cremation services and the family will receive friends at the McCulla Funeral Home on Monday from 3:00 PM until the 4:00 PM Memorial service with Rev. James “Rat” Saunders officiating. The family would like to give special thanks to TLC Hospice for their friendship and support and a special thanks to her friend and caregiver, Amy Cullison. The family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Evelyn Cathleen Shafer 88 of Morgantown departed for her Heavenly home around 11:00 PM on October 8, 2010 at Monongalia General Hospital after a short illness with three generations of family by her side. She was born May 30, 1922 at Webster Springs, WV to Hugh Herbert and Laveda Bell Moffitt Springston.
As a young lady she moved to Morgantown where she met Marshall Claude Shafer to whom she wed and spent her life on the farm between National and Laurel Point. In September 2006 she became a resident of Mapleshire Continuing Care Facility.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister Ilean Springston, son Michael Claude Shafer, and two sons-in-law Dewey H. Broyles and Donald Schiffbauer.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Rebecca Jane Lawson and husband James of Point Pleasant, WV, Deloris Ann Kinsley and husband John of Morgantown, Sharon Sue Kinsley and husband James of Morgantown, Linda Kay Broyles of Lindside, WV, Lois Marie Schiffbauer of Morgantown, Connie Lou Reese and husband Karl of Peterstown, WV, Joann Lane Musgrave of Morgantown, George Marshall Shafer of Morgantown, Darlene Lynn Hylton and husband Frank of Morgantown, and David Edward Shafer and wife Estelle of Alton, NH; a brother, Jimmie Loyd Springston and wife Anna of Cowen, WV and a sister Alma Mustoe of Webster, 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren with two soon to be born and six great great grandchildren with two soon to be born.
Evelyn was a lady of very strong Christian character who loved all she met and in return they loved her. She especially enjoyed children. She was a member of the Booth-Union United Methodist Church at National. She spent many hours stitching and sewing. She made a quilt for everyone of her progeny. She loved working in her garden and yard and tended numerous flowers and maintained several bird feeders. She set a strong example of peaceful living for all she met.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Sunday from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. James Lawson and Brother Dewey Broyles officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
