John Lloyd “Skip” Brown Jr., age 67 of Arbogast Lane, Morgantown went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 1, 2009 after a short struggle with work related lung cancer. He was born January 25, 1941 in Morgantown a son of Edith Aileen Johns Brown of Gladesville and the late John Lloyd Brown Sr.
Skip was a dedicated and respected pipefitter-welder and job supervisor with Local # 152. Throughout his career he remained true to his trade and upheld the high standards of his union.
After his retirement he became an accomplished woodworker and lovingly handcrafted a Mountain Dulcimer for each of his three grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting with his friends and frequent trips to the Amish country lumberyards and hardware stores. Every winter would find Skip plowing neighbors’ driveways with his four-wheeler. He was a member of the Covenant Evangelical Methodist Church. Skip was a good friend, a wonderful husband and father and was without a doubt the best Pappy ever.
Skip is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sue Tenney Brown, one son J. L. Brown III and daughter-in-law Susan Brown of Morgantown, one daughter Lori Miller and son-in-law Rick Miller of Grafton, his mother Edith Aileen Johns Brown of Gladesville, two brothers Bill Brown and sister-in-law Donna, of Morgantown and David Brown of Morgantown, and the three “Lights of his Life” grandchildren, Rachel Miller, Logan Miller and Travis Brown.
He is reunited in heaven with his father and best friend, John Lloyd Brown Sr., and his sister Becky Travanski.
The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at Mon General Hospital’s oncology unit for the love and care given to us all.

Thomas (Tom) James “Lurch” Burns, 53, of Lynch Rd., Morgantown quietly left many friends and family members on Friday, April 18, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Tom was born August 29, 1954 in Fort Knox, KY, a son of George R. and Lorena L. Burns of Morgantown.
He had worked at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens for over 25 years. Tom had a great love of music, and enjoyed singing in front of a crowd. He also liked hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, and working in his yard. Tom was the life of the party, liked to joke, and have fun. He just loved life.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nannette Blake Burns; a son and spouse, T. J. and Tara Burns of Morgantown; a daughter and spouse, Chelsa Burns and Willie Gibson of Morgantown; four brothers and spouses, George and Roseanne Hall of York, PA, Terry Burns and Darlene Phillips, Ron and Debra Burns, and Greg and Hope Burns, all of Morgantown; a sister and spouse, Sharon Burns and Jamie Barnett of Morgantown; a sister-in-law and spouse, Jeanie Blake and Mark Salivan of Myrtle Beach, SC; a mother-in-law who he was very close to, Nancy J. Blake of Morgantown; two grandchildren who he was very proud of, Braxton James Burns and Alexis Ann Gibson; maternal grandmother, Grandma Hall; and many close friends who Tom considered his extended family of brothers and sisters.

John “Big John” Buzzo Jr., 69, of Granville died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born March 14, 1940 in Bluefield a son of the late Joseph and Chrissie Mullins Buzzo.
John was self-employed, a member of the Riverside Apostolic Church and was an avid dog racing fan.
John is survived by three sons, John Joseph Buzzo Jr. of Granville, David A. Buzzo and wife Pamela of Granville and Nicholas Shawn Buzzo and wife Heather of Granville; one daughter Pamela Johnson and husband Jacob of Painesville, OH; five sisters, Daisy Buzzo, Annie Buzzo, Martha Rash, Patty Walker and Mary Jane Piskac; four brothers, Frank Buzzo, Bill Buzzo Teddy Buzzo, and Earl “Tokey” Buzzo; and four grandchildren, Aliegh Buzzo, Jennifer Johnson, Josh Johnson, and Lucas Buzzo.
His wife Violet Davis Buzzo preceded John in death.

Robert E. “Bob” Cain, 79 of Lawlis Road, Morgantown passed away Saturday, November 01, 2008 at his home. He was born May 27, 1929 in Osage a son of the late David S. and Hattie Armenda Leach Cain.
Bob had been the owner of Cain’s body shop in Westover for many years. He served with the Army Special Forces in World War II and was a longtime member of the VFW in Battle Creek, MI. Bob’s hobbies were woodworking and collecting various types of antiques.
His companion of many years, Wanda Davis, nephews and nieces, Gary Cain, David Cain, Carol Powers, William Holt, Larry Holt, Dottie Hollis, Ronnie Cain, Robert L. Allen, and Barbara Allen, a sister-in-law, Dottie Cain and a longtime special friend Eddie Campbell survives him.
One son, Bobby Lee Cain, three sisters, Opal Kinsley, Margaret Holt, and Virginia Allen and two brothers, Dennis Cain and Junior Cain and nieces and nephews, Judy Cain, Patty Clawges, Eloise Conti, and Buddy Allen preceded Bob in death.

Brenda K. Campbell age 49 of the Grafton Road, Morgantown passed away Friday, April 3, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born June 8, 1959 in Morgantown a daughter of Ed and Dolores Rowan Samson of Morgantown
Brenda was employed by the Dollar General Store in Sabraton. She enjoyed camping and bingo but her greatest love was being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Brenda is survived by her husband, James A. Campbell, two sons, Richard Todd Sanders and wife Jackie of Martinsburg and Michael Lee Sanders and wife Amber of Kingwood, three daughters, Sherry Ann Jordan and husband Shane of Fairmont, Kelly Sue Freeman and fiancée Scott Frum of Reedsville and Amy Dawn Freeman and boyfriend Chuck McDonald of Morgantown, three sisters Terri Walls of Morgantown, Joyce Dunko of Simpsonville, SC and Kim Peskar of Aiken, SC and Six grandchildren, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Hailey, Kiley, Autumn and Colton.

Tammy Ronia Everson Carder, 39, of Morgantown died Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born December 12, 1969 the daughter of Dorothy K. Zinn Everson of Morgantown and Richard L. Everson of Valley Point.
In addition to her parents, Tammy is survived by her fiancé Robert (Bobby) Clemens; four sons: Chad Carder, Justin Clemens, Bobby Clemens Jr., and William Clemens; one grandson, Jeremiah; one sister, Tanya Demastes and spouse Terry of Buchannon; two brothers, Richard L. Everson Jr. of Randleman, NC, and James A. Clemens Jr. of Morgantown; and four nieces and four nephews.
Tammy was proceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, Virginia and Paul Zinn; paternal grandparents, Virginia and Ray Cogar; and one uncle, Lawrence Everson.

Duane A. Carpenter, age 70 of Fern Street, Morgantown passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born December 17, 1938 in Webster Springs, WV a son of the late David Edward and Nina Gay Lynch Carpenter.
Duane was employed at the housekeeping department of WVU Hospital and had previously worked at Sterling Faucet for 31 years. He was an avid sports fan, always following his favorite teams, WVU and the Steelers. He was a Methodist by faith.
Duane is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary D. Forkin Carpenter, two daughters and spouses, Beth G. and David Morgan of Morgantown and Belinda J. and Thomas Varndell of Morgantown, two sisters, Wanda Ruckle of Fairview and Irene VanHuss of Florida, four brothers, Don Carpenter of Morgantown, Franklin Carpenter of Newtown, PA, Delmas Carpenter of Waynesburg, PA and Paul Carpenter of Georgia, grandchildren, David Paul Morgan, Deja Morgan, Tabitha Morgan, Anthony Varndell, Hailey Varndell and one soon to be great grandchild.
One brother, Dane Carpenter, preceded him in death.

Charles C. Chase, age 91, of Crown passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 2, 1918 in Detroit, MI a son of the late John and Julia Young Chase.
Charles was a coal miner from Consolidation Coal Company, Humphrey Mine # 7, retiring in 1972 and was a member of the Riverside Apostolic Church. As a teenager, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) helping to develop Coopers Rock. Charles was a true outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, gardening, working, and going to his son’s farm.
Charles is survived by his wife of 69 years, Opal Carpenter Chase, two daughters, Joan Chase Tressler of Westover and Nancy Thomas and husband Ron of Cheat Lake, one son Charlie Chase II and wife Vicki of Halleck Road, one brother, Steve Chase and wife Jane of SC, nine grandchildren, Renee, Robert II, Teressa and husband Dave, Preston and wife Anna, Laticia, Alyssa, Charlie III, Zachary and Maria, and great grandchildren, Dakota, Caanan, Kayla, Karlee, Tyson, Trevor, Taya, and Quinten.
Charles was preceded in death by one sister, Goldie Hall, five brothers, Rudy, John, Frank, Earnest, and Bill Chase.

Helen Chase, age 86 of Morgantown passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Mapleshire Nursing Home. She was born February 4, 1924 in Reynoldsville, WV a daughter of the late Andrew Payton and Rosie Gower Sims.
Helen is survived by two sons, Joe Chase and wife Dotty of Morgantown and Henry Chase of Morgantown, one daughter, Julia Emery and husband Jim of Morgantown, one son-in-law Clem Floyd of Morgantown, two sisters, Margaret Hupp of Ohio and Betty Knickerbocker of FL, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Chase, one daughter, Rose Ann Floyd, three sisters and three brothers.
The family will receive friends at the McCulla Funeral Home on Friday, July 9, 2010 from 6:00-7:00 PM. Memorial services will be held on Friday at 7:00 PM and interment will be held at Arnettsville Cemetery at a later date. Jack P. Christoff, 79, of Morgantown passed away Friday, September 24, 2010. He was born in Brownsville, PA on April 7, 1931 to the late Peter and Clara Bugelli Christoff.
Jack served his country and belonged to the VFW. He was also a retired Blacksville No. 2 coal miner and was a member of the UMWA. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed going hunting and fishing.
Jack is survived by one son, Pete Christoff of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Jeremy Christoff, Landon Polce, Peter Christoff, and Nicole Christoff, three great-grandchildren Brandon Christoff, Hunter Christoff, and Shamis Christoff; and a special friend, Gladys Guthrie.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one son, Nick Christoff.

Loretta R. Christoff, age 72 of Gabbertville Road, Morgantown passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008. She was born April 15, 1936 in Flaggy Meadow a daughter of the late John and Olia Tichenor Cain.
Loretta had been employed as Massullo’s Cleaners and American Dry Cleaners. She enjoyed collecting ceramic frogs and was a Christian by faith.
Loretta is survived by one son Pete Christoff of Morgantown; one sister Susie Balasko of Westover; four grandchildren, Jeremy Christoff and wife Shannon, Peter Christoff, Nicole Christoff, and Landon Polce; two great grandchildren, Brandon Christoff and Hunter Christoff; her former husband Jack Christoff; her beloved faithful pet “Patches”; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Nick Christoff, one sister, Betty Sochko, and five brothers, Edward Cain, John Cain, William Cain, Charlie Cain, and Jim Cain.
